Episode 32 - The New Zealand tea room

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 14/01/2012 22:06

Well folks, here we are, beside the hot springs of New Zealand.

The tea room (with the customary distressed chintz sofa) overlooks the steaming, bubbling lake. For the bold and sporty, hiking, biking and sky-diving are on offer. Personally, I'm not planning to leave the spa.

Please come and join us for a celebratory drink and conversation ranging from the profound to the profoundly silly. The cardinal rule remains: no fisticuffs.

Have they gone yet?

The O***D inspectors?

Scout19075 · 01/03/2012 19:34

MrScout's current manager/boss is a right &@$£*!?&$£?.

Lovely swimming session with Toddler and his friend today. Made plans for the two toddlers to go to the soft place with a name that sounds like a pub for small people next week.

Wine anyone?

Jacksmania · 01/03/2012 19:55

Hi Prancing, welcome. You've met my icky bits, now you can meet the other parts of me :o

Jacksmania · 01/03/2012 20:01

Urgh, clicked "post" too soon. Am massively stressed out at the moment, stuff to do with work, and there is a pending teachers' strike here where I live, and DH is going away on Sunday, which means I'm on my own Mon and Tues until we leave to join on Weds, but those are the days I work, when JB would normally be in preschool. But the preschool is in a school so may not be allowed to stay open if the teachers really do strike as they voted today that they would. Which means I have to rely on grandma (who is lovely but who broke my heart a little yesterday with a very loving comment about a personal oddity of mine - she was right to point it out but I'm feeling it too much at the moment - I do so love PMT, when my evil twin comes out) or a friend, and it's going to involve a lot of driving and timing things right down to the minute, and really, I just want to cry.

Donki · 02/03/2012 12:08

Help yourselves.

OFSTED went ok!

Hello to all newcomers! I hope you can forgive my rather unseemly (for a Donki) behaviour...

Scout - I hope that Mr Scout's manager sees the light (so to speak).
JM I hope that you are feeling better.

Donki · 02/03/2012 13:15

AFter the last few months (the parent questionnaires went out in November!), today I feel as if I could fly!

Gosh! I never knew my ears could do that!

beanandspud · 02/03/2012 14:16

GrinGrinGrin at flying donki slightly tipsy on carrot wine!

That's great news - what a huge relief!

mistlethrush · 02/03/2012 14:39

Donki - does that mean that Friday week is a definitely probably now rather than a maybe but possibly not?

Concert tomorrow - and its the nice pianist we've had playing before - nice guy, beautiful playing.

Work is v. busy - catching a 5 min breather with a cup of tea.

TW must now be very jet-lagged. I hope all went well on that front.

Jacksmania · 02/03/2012 14:40

Congratulations Donki! That's wonderful.

That ear thing is quite impressive :o

How are you my lovely?

beanandspud · 02/03/2012 15:00

Enjoy your concert MT!

Looking forward to the weekend. Still have loads to do this afternoon but enjoying a carrot cake break.

UniS · 02/03/2012 19:51

Hurrah for ofstead having departed the building.

nice somersaults Donki.

Boy is very definably in Key stage one now, we have home work for the first time and he has spelling test next week. Home work is not tooo bad or going to take much parental input. He is asked to order a number of random numbers between 1-100. I'll get the lotto counters out and he can have a handful of those to play with.

Scout19075 · 02/03/2012 21:32

Wine anyone?

beanandspud · 02/03/2012 21:46

Thank you Scout! Wine would be lovely.

How are you? Mr Bean is away until Sunday so I'm enjoying an evening in front of the tv. Have loads of jobs to do and the house is a disaster zone but it can wait until tomorrow!

Scout19075 · 02/03/2012 22:19

I'm okay. We watched (recorded) The Celebrity Apprentice and now watching American Idol. Yes, it's a night of cheesy television in ScoutCamp.

teafortwo · 03/03/2012 07:50

maxybrown · 03/03/2012 08:32

Morning everyone, been sidetracked last couple of days. And now (TMI coming up sorry) have discovered another reason for only having an only - discovered yesterday I have some sort of prolapse Sad DS is 4, what's going on!! Shock so off to docs for me on Monday.

Why is it called The New Zealand Tea room by the way?

teafortwo · 03/03/2012 09:10
Let's dance to this because I am taking a plane at midday...

Hi Maxy - niiirse to meet you, I am teafortwo,I know the girls have already given you a nice welcome but please let me add - consider yourself at home xxx

Now - the tearoom travels each thread because it is a moveable feast - I don't think that there is a continent we are yet to sit and chit and chat and sip tea in... you will notice other oddities like one tearoom drinker is a donkey - we have a gardener called Mellors - a horse called Earl Grey and tiny plastic babies off of cake wreck that seem to have painted themselves blue for World book day and last time I looked were refusing to wash it off... There is a sort of mini farm of all sorts of animals and each of our children have an mn name too (my slightly eccentric five year old girl is called Milk) nod and smile when we all 'go off on one' if you wanna 'keep it real' or.... alternatively.... feel free to join in with the 'fantastical' side of things... : ) hehehehe!!!!!!!

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 03/03/2012 11:10

::shrieks::

Teeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaaaa! How lovely to see you. I PMed you a while back - did you find it?

::clasps Tea to her still-ample bosom, all attempts at shedding excess blubber havaing failed::

I had planned a lovely morning's gardening but it's drizzling here. Perhaps I can get Mellors to do it?

Thank you for the explanation teafortwo! I'm more of a lurker than a very regular poster, but I'll definitely be dropping in with more cake as required and as it's Saturday, how about martinis? Twist or olive?

I had quite a good day today, sold lots of DS's old stuff at a baby and kids stuff market - made £200 once I'd paid for the stall and bunged DP's DD £25 for helping. I felt a teeny bit sad at the thought of another baby snuggling in his things. I think I get a bit - broody isn't the right word, not sure what is - nostalgic? - for DS's baby days, but not for another baby iyswim. Anyway, £200 and the extra space we now have in the garage is not to be sniffed at!
