The Nordic Tearoom (Number 31)

We have moored the barge for the winter and have moved to a beautiful, cosy log cabin in deepest Scandinavia overlooking a frozen lake and surrounded by pine trees.

Mellors has lit the log fires and candles, it is snowing outside and there are comfortable seats for everyone and fleecy blankets to snuggle up in. For the more active tearoomers there are skis and sledges outside as well as a steaming hot tub for winding down after a busy day.

So pull up a chair. The kettle is on for Brew and there is always plenty of Wine depending on your mood and time zone. (Alternatively there is schnapps, smorgasbord and smoked fish).

Everybody is welcome ? share as much or as little as you like ? but no fisticuffs please!

Ah, your life will now be full of facts about animals Unis - ds loves all the Deadly shows. The only other CBBC thing he watches is The Slammer which is a variety show

mistlethrush · 25/11/2011 19:57

Roar is also quite good on the animal side of things UniS - and there's a computer game (not much input required) associated with it.

The Slammer is good too.

MC has been really enjoying junior bake off.

Moving from cbbeebies to cbbc has generally been a relief though - much less annoying!

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 25/11/2011 22:38

The Brownies were invited to be in the audience for The Slammer, but sadly we couldn't go. !

CMOTdibbler · 26/11/2011 19:32

DS was really into Junior bakeoff too - strange really. He has insisted on judging everything in bakeoff stylee since though.

I have a household full of men this weekend so it is all a bit smelly here Grin

Wine anyone ?

UniS · 26/11/2011 19:49

A few ideas there to try with boy, thank you wise Tea room mums of slightly braver/bigger boys than boy.

Anyone seen Auther Christmas yet? I'm wondering about a day out in city with boy just before christmas, MIGHT try him with this film.

Kettle is on, whos for a hot choc?

UnSerpentQuiCourt · 26/11/2011 19:50

Wine gratefully received.

I only ever seem to moan in the tea room - nice location, by the way - so thought I'd just drop in the share my so-far-lovely evening ... cooking sausages (inc vegetarian) on the newly-repaired Agalike, Wriggle and M.Snake in the bath using the hot water thus generated, listening to Arthur Smith singing Leornard Cohen, while drinking mulled wine.

That's me drinking it, not AS.

As far as I know.

So many of my favourite people in here! Smile

beanandspud · 26/11/2011 19:54

Wine Wine Wine Smile Smile Smile

Home at last today! It has been a long week and very busy but I'm back with the Beans which is fab! The only regret was that I had been hoping to get to a Christmas market one evening (CMOT - I think it is the one that is closest to you?) but I just couldn't escape.

Grin at house full of smelly men!

Scout - sorry that your GM spoilt Thanksgiving - please don't let it affect the rest of your stay at Scout Camp.

MT/Unis - we currently have a tv 'diet' of Handy Manny, Chuggington and Fireman Sam. I think I need to expand his repertoire. In some ways I miss the days of cBeebies with no adverts.

Cheers Serpent! That sounds like a lovely evening.

Arthur Smith singing Leonard Cohen? Bliss!

::clinks glasses with tea roomers::

CMOTdibbler · 26/11/2011 20:00

We were in Brum on Wednesday at the market Bean - was v good. I rarely manage to do anything exciting when away for work, so I know what you mean.

Serpent, that sounds lovely.

UnSerpentQuiCourt · 26/11/2011 20:03

Wriggle has expanded her television repetoire to include all cooking programs and Spring/Autumnwatch. I do enjoy the latter.

Mostly she watches DVDs. I like old Disneys, in French so that I don't really understand them and can watch them again and again, or Kipper as narrated by Martin Clunes. She, sadly, has discovered Hello Kitty.

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 26/11/2011 20:14

Is Hello Kitty on the telly? I quite like the cute drawings but I have an awful suspicion that any cartoon version would be very saccharine. I love Spring and AutumnWatch - I think Chris Packham would be part of my fantasy dinner party because his enthusiasm for poodles and nature is so infectious.

UnSerpentQuiCourt · 26/11/2011 20:59

We have a Hello Kitty DVD. It is very saccharine and very Japanese in places - ten minutes agonising about Kitty bumping into a lady on the train.
I think Chris Packham's poodles are in Battersea Dogs Home after last night's episode.

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 26/11/2011 21:12

i didn't see it last night. Did Itchy and Scratchy disgrace themselves in some way?

::worried::

UnSerpentQuiCourt · 26/11/2011 22:14

Squabble on the sofa in public. Shock Loved the tiny murmuration of starlings. Now have a burning ambition to tame starlings.

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 26/11/2011 22:16

You could do it, Serpent! I was wondering the other day, how goes it with MonsieurSnake and his landscape excavations?

UnSerpentQuiCourt · 26/11/2011 22:31

He is at present building a dry stone wall. Rather artistic and I think he enoys it very much. Must take photos for posterity.
Bonne nuit.

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 26/11/2011 22:47

That sounds rather wonderful. I hope you'll plant lots of lovely alpines in the gaps between the stones.

Dors bien!

Scout19075 · 26/11/2011 23:33

We think Toddler has caught a cold. Boo. Two days before we're supposed to fly home. Can't postpone it (return flight) a day or two (or even three) due to the strike on the 30th -- BAA is telling the airlines to cut their passenger numbers by at least half and airlines are saying passengers may be stuck on the tarmack, etc. ARGH. Poor Toddler.

Be back after he's in bed.

Wine?

oxeye · 26/11/2011 23:34

oh don't go lovely ladies!
::oxeye screeches in a little late::

lovely evening Serpent
Oxboy still on the tamest of tame cbeebies, likes Everythings Rosie and Octonauts and Mike the Knight. Bliss is milkshake at the weekend - Noddy, Mr Men and Rupert Bear!

I was thinking of chancing Happy Feet TWo as our first cinematic outing. Gaggle of class went to Arthur Christmas this weekend, great reviews in paper, I'll report back from the class front, but Aadrman can't go wrong surely?

We're all a bit peaky here and slightly suffering from having no third person to arbitrate --basically Oxbloke is much nicer than I and keeps things cheery I am feeling his absence most acutely as I alternate between lemsip and aspirin!

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 26/11/2011 23:40

::Pauses on the wooden hill, on the way to Bedfordshire::

::Clasps Oxeye to her ample bosom::

Aardman is always good, isn't it? I like the sound of Arthur Christmas and if we ever have a free evening, we'll go. Sorry to hear about the lurgy. I still have my cough, although it's a great deal better.

::Shares a companionable Lemsip::

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 26/11/2011 23:41

And bummer about Toddler's cold. Has everyone in the Camp got it?

oxeye · 26/11/2011 23:51

::clasps Maud::
::Snaffles lemsip and adds a slug of Wine:: - not classy but necessary

hope all others are well and joyous this windy night!

Jacksmania · 27/11/2011 04:42

Oh. My. Dog!!!!!!!! Is there anything a nearly four-year-old doesn't complain about????????????

Gahhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!

Scout19075 · 27/11/2011 04:59

Um.... I don't know, JM, Toddler's just turned two. He likes to tell us how horrible we are because we just don't understand him! Like last night -- whined and threw himself around (on the floor) for ages because MrScout gave him (shock and horror) carrots from the box in the refrigerator when really what he wanted were the cherry tomatoes. ACK.
