Picture the scene...

From the edge of every terrace and every step hang brilliantly white stalactites, and you can hear the joyful splashing of the waters of the hot springs as they cascade down over slopes where their flow is impeded only by clumps of oleanders.

Nearby is an oasis of refreshments, in our Pamukkale residence, air conditioned and with white washed generously proportioned rooms, with Mellors at the ready, to offer Turkish Massage to anyone who wishes.

The NMBs are in their element, whereas the bishops seem to have found their speedoes again.

Priest's hole is at the back, in a quiet shaded area, stocked with What Car magazines, Turkish rugs and Turkish delight

Have a Wine MT. And a shoulder massage from Mellors. Does sound worrying still, yes.

mistlethrush · 04/09/2011 19:10

Thanks, yes, could just do with that.

I think I shall go to the Dr and see if I can get him referred - I think we need some help with how to help him.

amberlight · 04/09/2011 19:15

Good plan.

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 04/09/2011 19:39

Oh dear, MT. Does your school have links to the CAMHS team (although I'm not sure whether they will take referrals from schools or you must go via GP anyway).

UniS · 04/09/2011 19:44

As Mistle chick is in private school I doubt school will refer, best have a chat with GP and go that way. Sorryto hear hes still have a bad time .
Boy has started says hes "rubbish" at any excuse, but I think its for effect and an excuse not to try things he doesn't find instantly easy and not something he believes.

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 04/09/2011 19:54

That's why I asked - state schools will have a link into CAMHS but I guess independent schools won't unless they have made (and paid for) an arrangement.

AandO · 04/09/2011 21:09

Thumb - So sorry to hear that Sad.

Donki - I have been in that cycle thing with my dh. He was horribly depressed for years, on meds but would then feel better and go off. Once I realised it would then take about 6 months to get him back to the drs, get the prescription and for the meds to start kicking in again. Those years were horrible. What love makes you put up with!

ok, going to read more and catch up on later news Grin

AandO · 04/09/2011 21:18

MT - Is it a regular thing? Does he say things like that alot? Good idea going to the gp.

Well, I've been at mils for the weekend. We had a great time. Dinner at a good friends on Fri night, coffee with another good friend on Sat morning, playground with LittleO, christening party at which LittleO had a blast playing for hours with his cousins, then pub sat evening, today then we just relaxed before driving home.

Thumbwitch · 05/09/2011 00:28

MT, I agree you probably need to start looking at some kind of help for him, if only to give him a space to vent about it. I think I've said to you before, maybe not on this thread but elsewhere, I know an excellent child counsellor but don't know how wide her working area is and where you are in relation to her.

A&O - sorry your DH is another with MH ishoos. Glad you had a good weekend though :)

It was Father's Day here (oh the irony) but we didn't do much, just went for an afternoon trip to the beach. Managed half an hour before the wind defeated us!

Tee2072 · 05/09/2011 09:14

Brew?

UniS · 05/09/2011 09:37

please.

Rainy here, sharp showers, I want to go for a training ride 5 miles hilly. NOt sure I wish to do it soaking wet tho. Can't find my big waterproof ether.

AandO · 05/09/2011 09:43

Yes please Tee.

MT - He is fine now. It's amazing really, years of meds (including lithium), counsellors and psychiatrists didn't help. Then almost five years ago he quit his job and went back to uni to study a subject he'd always loved, then two weeks after he began uni LittleO was born, and hey presto he was suddenly the happiest man ever! He thinks it's the combo of spending his time on something he loves and then the joy that LittleO gives him. He finished uni last summer and I was really worried that the depression would return. It didn't. But to be on the safe side he is starting a phd shortly (hopefully) with the longterm plan that he can get paid to do what he loves and keep his depression away for ever. We had never thought it was an unhappiness with his life thing, always thought it was a chemical imbalance thing, if we had known we would have changed things much much sooner.

AandO · 05/09/2011 09:45

Raining here too. Just popped into the gym after dropping LittleO to school. Their classes don't start for another week.

mistlethrush · 05/09/2011 19:02

Right, will sort out appt.

A&O - that sounds really good.

UniS · 05/09/2011 19:10

still havn;t found big all covering waterproof jacket....
did the ride in cycle jacket and astoundingly stayed basicly dry, I only sheltered under a tree once for a brief heavy downpour.

not as comfortable after that hilly 5 as I was after a flat 5. ho hum, need to build up to 15 hilly in 3 weeks.

still. Evening now, the sun is over teh yard arm, who wants a glass of Wine or Brew of beer.

I offer you tonight special dish. Twiglet surprise with extra bananas and hula hoops.

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 05/09/2011 19:22

::Pushes to the front of the queue for UniS's gourmet dish a gogo::

May I help you pour the Wine?

UniS · 05/09/2011 19:47

ohh yes, gogos, they suit this dish just right dontcha think.

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 05/09/2011 19:52

Not knowing what a gogo is, I shall have to say yes. Or possibly no.

UniS · 05/09/2011 19:55

yes no yes no, I have no idea what a gogo is either in a culinary sence. prehaps we should go go google it.

The google doodle today is VERY fine indeed and worth a quick google just to listen/ see.

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 05/09/2011 20:07

Ah yes, RIP Freddie. .

Tee2072 · 05/09/2011 20:49

::grabs blanket, plate of twiglet surprise, large Wine, several Biscuits, a large hanky, crawls into Priest Hole and bursts into tears::

It's not over. His last nappy was fairly runny. He puked just before bed. He's pulling his ear. He's coughing. We are 5 days into D&V season and not in flu season yet and he's already ill. Off to GP tomorrow and we have our ENT consult in a week.

RIP Freddie. Just think, if he was alive he'd be getting his bus pass today. Smile

Donki · 05/09/2011 20:50

Ooooh! UniS
Wheat free twiglets - You STAR!
I would never have thought of combining them with bananas. It is an interesting combination.

Thankyou for all your wise thoughts ladies - I have investigated more local riding establishments, but was a bit discouraged to see that their definition of "advanced" is stage 2 standard..... And that was the better one.

I like the idea of a week's course/holiday - but think that I wouldn't last past day one if I wasn't riding regularly..... My body is no longer as erm resilient as once it was.

I have also had a sharp reminder that I need a portable method for doing school work so that if I am summoned to a friend in need, I can take it with me!

So I suppose thr laptop/tablet wins....

....but I want to ride again.

Hey ho.

Donki · 05/09/2011 20:52

Ohh Tee. Lots of sympathy. Sick toddlers are very worrisome.

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 05/09/2011 21:15

Oh no, Tee. Hope the GP or the ENT bod can offer something that will make a real difference to poor little LCT.

Scout19075 · 05/09/2011 21:25

Poor LCT. Sad
