Picture the scene...

From the edge of every terrace and every step hang brilliantly white stalactites, and you can hear the joyful splashing of the waters of the hot springs as they cascade down over slopes where their flow is impeded only by clumps of oleanders.

Nearby is an oasis of refreshments, in our Pamukkale residence, air conditioned and with white washed generously proportioned rooms, with Mellors at the ready, to offer Turkish Massage to anyone who wishes.

The NMBs are in their element, whereas the bishops seem to have found their speedoes again.

Priest's hole is at the back, in a quiet shaded area, stocked with What Car magazines, Turkish rugs and Turkish delight

LCT also having stamps put on his bum for his turn on the mini-digger. Grin

Maybe I'll come along. I love diggers myself!

Thumbwitch · 05/08/2011 00:06

Oh I do love pickled garlic! If you go to any food markets, there is often a stall selling a vast array of olives, dolmades, dried peppers, sundried tomatoes etc. - some of them will have pickled garlic and most will let you try one before you buy. You can eat them on their own or put them into things - they have lost most of their astringency through pickling. I don't know about Serp, but the pickled garlic I have seen has always been in single cloves.

Poor AP - it must be so tough for her. And poor Wriggle's friend again. Doesn't sound at all fun but it's good for her to learn that lesson (same person inside) early, I think.

Our playgroup has been approached by a lady who runs a Special Needs group to ask if she can bring her group along on the same day we use the Community facilities and Toy Library - we've said yes because it will be good for all the children to learn to integrate (we hope!).

Scout - if you are still iffy even after the cupasoup, stick to non-fat foods for a bit until everything settles down - should be sorted within a day. Fat seems to exacerbate and prolong the problems. I used to have dry toast and diluted ginger ale, seemed to work for me.

I won't TNT DS over to the UK for digger action this time - we're hoping at some point to get our own digger going and dig out underneath the house to make some more rooms. We had a big discussion about it the other day but of course no progress will be made on it. DH seems to think I should be doing it all, I think he should be the one to find relevant workmen since he's the one who has more contacts here! Impasse --> Nothing changes.

Spring is apparently starting - I only just got to my raspberry canes in time, they were starting to sprout tiny leaves at the ends but have now been cut back. But then it might go back to winter - we've had a record-breaking dry hot spell here (for winter) and it's set to end again in a day or so. I hope it rains! It's too dry. :(

Brew?

Am doing fresh mushrooms and fried eggs

I think there's some bacon and sausages around somewhere, but I know nothing of those....

Just out of the oven bread or slices to toast.....

Thinking about that, we found a wonderful bread shop to go to in Lyme Regis - baked their own bread - open for breakfast (help yourself to muesli or any of the breads - you paid if you had bread and then you could go back for more, cut it yourself, bowls of butter, raspberry jam, honey and I think Peanut butter on the table... lunch similarly - and they did trays of flans and pizzas and salads etc...

Ds came back from sports camp yesterday with a note to say that he'd been tackling the coaches to the floor and hitting a couple of them. Angry and then saying that he wanted to kill himself Sad really don't know what to do about all the talk of killing himself and dying. It gets me down.

Wiggles the bottle of Wine suggestively -- anyone up for a glass to celebrate it being Friday evening?

Tee2072 · 05/08/2011 19:05

::holds out glass::

Scout19075 · 05/08/2011 19:09

How are you this evening?

Tee2072 · 05/08/2011 19:32

Thanks Scout! ::slurgp::

Well considering LCT slept 8 - 7 last night and had a one hour nap today and just conked out at 730, pretty darn good!

How's you?

Scout19075 · 05/08/2011 20:41

YAY LCT! Good job!

TS is struggling a bit but is nearly asleep. He's not whiney/whingy, just chattering with the occassional kick of his headboard. He's eaten today proper food, not just Cheerios/Rice Cakes and had a normal poo (TMI, sorry!) so I think he's on his way to feeling better. I definitely feel better. I think MrScout is still a bit dodgy (his really hit overnight) but he's eating now, too.

MrScout told me the date he was going to the States -- the day before my birthday. Sad But he'd only be gone ten days before returning for our (pre-booked) annual holiday. Then tonight he said it would probably be delayed due to visa issues. I'd really just like to know when we get to go so I can make firm plans regarding Seniors/Guides/Swimming class!

beanandspud · 05/08/2011 20:43

:: holds out glass too! ::

How are you both? Well done LCT for all that sleep!

Hurray it's Friday. We are going to see Cars2 tomorrow - Small Bean very excited although somewhat disappointed when I had to explain that the real cars wouldn't be there.

Scout19075 · 05/08/2011 20:48
beanandspud · 05/08/2011 20:57

Mmmm, thank you Scout!

Glad that TS seems to be on the mend, are you and Mr Scout feeling better too? I had it in my head that you were going to be able to go to the States with Mr S this time, had I dreamt that up?

Scout19075 · 05/08/2011 21:08

Yes, my plan is to go over while MrScout is over. It's a matter of when and we can't plan/scheme until we know when MrScout is going. But he's definitely going and I think he may have started some work remotely.

UnSerpentQuiCourt · 05/08/2011 21:22

Mistle, sounds like you stumbled on a Townsmill Bakery. I had sort of assumed they must be national, since I know of two round here, but maybe they are a Dorset thing. They have interesting bread, such as rye and sourdough. good pizzas, free milk etc on tables (good for feeding fussy Wriggle) .... the only problem is that I can't drink coffee and have a sad addition to diet coke, which they would never dream of stocking ... Blush

Wriggle has no interest in cars of any kind, sadly, but we are very excited about the prospective release of Arriety by the Studio Gibraldi (or somesuch similar name - something Japanese, anyway).

Garlic for pickling did need separating into cloves and peeling - long, fiddly and sticky job, but made 10 jars.

UnSerpentQuiCourt · 05/08/2011 21:28

Mistle, just read your post properly. At school we get very worried about children who talk about killing themselves. Do you think that it is worrying? Is there a school counsellor he could talk to, or a play therapist? Or do you think that it is just part of the whole 4/5-year-old thing of trying to get to grips with the concept of death? Or an issue with impulse management?

Scout19075 · 05/08/2011 21:30

Mmmm, the thought of toast made from homemade bread with melted butter sounds sooooo good right now. Shame I don't know how to make bread and we don't have a toaster/toaster oven. Oh well.

Have never heard of pickled garlic before -- how does one eat it?

beanandspud · 05/08/2011 21:34

I think I need a Townsmill bakery here - it sounds lovely!

amberlight · 05/08/2011 21:36

'evening all

Will attempt to catch up. Hi in particular to new people Smile I'm Amber and I have one son but he's now 18 so arguably I don't belong in here. But here I am.

Tee2072 · 05/08/2011 21:40

Amber you belong here more than most as you give the rest of us hope that childhood can be survived. Grin

beanandspud · 05/08/2011 21:42

Amber - welcome back! How was Wales?

Scout19075 · 05/08/2011 21:45

Not just childhood but toddlerhood, Tee! Wink

Tee2072 · 05/08/2011 21:48

Especially toddlerhood, Scout! Grin

beanandspud · 05/08/2011 21:50

It's the teenage-hood that worries me most.....

Scout19075 · 05/08/2011 22:03

ACK! Yes, teenagedom is a frightening thought. Especially given where we currently live. Double ACK!

When I was at the launderette with the blankets/duvets TS puked all over the amount of scary teens/behavior was unbelieveable. Some I know was harmless fun but I wanted to slap them like "how many teens can you fit in the dryer?" and the teenage couple who ate their fish-n-chips in a dryer then dumped the leftovers in the dryer and left. Blurgh. I couldn't say anything -- I didn't see they had left the food in the dryer until long after they had gone and I went to check my dryer/s.

Donki · 06/08/2011 06:17

Dear Tearoom Ladies

We are having a lovely time here in Alaska! The only problem is too much to do and not enough time!

We have seen my lovely relatives, spent 3 nights in a cabin on an island, seen glaciers (they are BLUE!), watched whales, listened to whales singing/talking whilst we sat round a fire on the beach, walked through the rainforest, been eaten to death by mosquitoes in the muskeg, and seen a bear.

I hope that you are all having a good time

Love (and carrots)

Donki

Donki · 06/08/2011 06:20

(Oh, and a brief and cautionary warning. If you are having a beach fire do not burn any oleander. The smoke is poisonous)
