To pinch an intro from the very first one and only tea room thread. in 2009.

The tea room is now officially open, serving hot chocolate, tea, freshly-squeezed orange juice and a range of home-baked muffins. Tablecloths and crockery are charmingly mismatched antiques (no Cath Kidston here). We overlook an attractive although somewhat overgrown garden, with a distant view of rolling countryside.

Everyone is welcome but house rules dictate that anyone indulging in fisticuffs will be ejected.

Please come in.

We seem to have fetched up in Ireland, this place looks remarkably like a pub,There is even a guiness barrel over there. The NMBs are all sporting shamrocks. The mirror ball is here, but I leave teh rest of the unpacking to someone else.

We have to share our bananas with Michael Gove?! Shock

beanandspud · 29/06/2011 09:15

Mmmmmm, really fancy a big cooked breakfast but trying to be very good before going on holiday. Is 10 days long enough to acquire the much-hyped 'bikini body'???

Oxeye - I would be interested to hear how your search for an au pair goes. We keep toying with the idea as (I think) it would make life a little simpler but I can't get past the mental block of having someone else living in the house and having to 'entertain' them.

Amber/Mistle - you have my sympathy. Mr Bean is frequently up in the middle of the night to go to the airport and beeping phones and alarms drive me mad.

Grin at MC eliminating Biff, Chip and friends! We have a new word in our house...after nagging Small Bean to keep drinking water as it's been so hot he now declares that if he doesn't drink enough he will turn into a De-Hydrangea (which I can only assume is a missing Power Ranger cousin).

Enjoy watching DS dancing CMOT!

CheerfulYank · 29/06/2011 09:43

At least you don't have to share yours with Michelle Bachmann amber. Not only is she from my country, not only is she from my state , she's from my district. Oh God, the shame.

UniS · 29/06/2011 09:44

sharing bananas eh? is that coz teh government is being led by a bunch of apes?

Job app is for one day a week classroom assistant. I do not have the qualification asked for in person spec but will apply any way and not be upset if i'm not interviewed.

CMOT- hope tiddler dance is OK, Boy has been telling me he is being a sailor in his dance next week, he didn't want to be a merman, so he's a sailor instead, looking for mermaids. The mind boogles! He IS the only boy in the class.

They can have all of my bananas as I do not like bananas.

Back from GP. Was a locum so didn't go Mama Bear, saving that for one who knows his history. Ears, throat, chest all clear. Keep up his fluids, finish his current anti-bs and bring him back if still not well in a few days.

Mummy is trying to design a new newsletter for a client with one hand and cuddle a small boy who keeps crying for no reason with the other. Now that's multitasking! Grin\

beanandspud · 29/06/2011 13:49

Brew Tee?

Not sure if you have a spare hand to drink it - would a straw help?

Tee2072 · 29/06/2011 13:51

Thanks Bean. Perhaps a drip?

DontCallMeBaby · 29/06/2011 15:57

"children as trainees for increased economic productivity"

Anyway. That's made my returning-home-from-work task of removing a dead mouse from under the patio furniture seem like a positive pleasure.

AandO · 29/06/2011 17:32

Warning, I will be ranting. Sick of being stuck in doing nothing. Nothing to do around here, at all. Weather continually crap, windy cold and sporadically wet. My plan for the next year seems to be live in a cold wet place with nothing to do Hmm. Seemed a good plan when it was made Confused but it now seems terrible. I don't know what to do!!!!

CheerfulYank · 29/06/2011 17:58

Goddammit, we're Minnesota! We're supposed to be hardworking, nice, and RATIONAL! It's our THING! How dare she take that away from us. Angry

And breathe...remain calm...remain calm...

AandO where are you?

Jacksmania · 29/06/2011 18:11

Hi, we're back... to the land of grey and gloomy skies, rain, and, to look on the bright side, lush green foliage. Hmm
I miss the Southern Cali sun already. Grrrr.

Cheerful, stop swilling gin. At least have something refined like vodka or tequila. Grin

How are you all? I know I've missed a lot. Will try to catch up.

AandO · 29/06/2011 18:19

Hi JM Smile

Cheerful -I'm in the south west of Ireland. It is continually wet here and grey, but also very green JM Grin. There is NOTHING to do here except look at fields in the rain....

UniS · 29/06/2011 20:34

Oh I dunno AO, you could look at hedges in teh rain. Any walls about you could look at? and Thatch, thatch always interests me in eth rain, teh way teh water drips off teh ends of teh reeds....
Yeah, your right. its dullsville.

Sorry about yesterday, ddn;' mean to sound like I gave a fig about what book band boy is reading. Guess I'm just glad of a sniff of books with a hint of story line and interest.

Much sympathy to CheerfulYank (Michelle Bachmann sounds dire) - but can I nick some of your tranquillisers and gin please......

Tee2072 · 29/06/2011 20:48

Who has the Wine? I need to kill a client and I don't want to be sober when I do it.

Rant warning:

Dear Client

If you ring me and I don't answer, leave me a freakin' voicemail. I will ring back. I promise.

Don't ring me at 430, when I might have been able to deal with the issue, not leave me a message and then not email me until 8 freakin' o'clock when the businesses I need to speak to to fix your issues are closed!

Love

Tee

I am instituting an idiot tax effective immediately.

Thanks. I feel better. Wine?

MaryBS · 29/06/2011 20:57

My sympathies Tee. I have the advantage of, if someone upsets me, I think "I can bury you", since I am licensed to conduct burials at church. (there has to be SOME advantage, since I don't get paid for it) Blush

CMOTdibbler · 29/06/2011 21:27

I feel the pain Tee. We often discuss implementing a software feature that learns the stupidity level of the user and cuts off the features they should not use based on that.

Ballet recital was lovely, but skiving off work to go was also enhanced by the fact that the local premiership rugby side were using the school pool for some fitness work. And theres a window to the pool from the car park...

CheerfulYank · 29/06/2011 21:51

Yes you may Donki . That's the new law of the American Jungle: Remain Calm and Share Your Drugs. :o

Scout19075 · 29/06/2011 22:17

I'm off to do my LAST injection of treatment. Doctor said I could also stop taking my pills today, too, or I could carry on until Tuesday if I wanted/it made me "feel better to." I am going to so I have the full number of weeks. But it's my last injection tonight!!!!

UniS · 29/06/2011 22:25

Wooo hoooo scout. you made it.

AandO · 29/06/2011 22:35

I went out and now feel better. LittleO, Dh and I all went to the river with a fishing net, bucket and microscope. Then to the lovely country pub for a pint of Murphys and bars of chocolate Grin! Just got back now, LittleO is having a very late night! Dh is now reading him stories in bed.

AandO · 29/06/2011 22:35

Great news Scout!

beanandspud · 29/06/2011 23:09

Good news Scout!

mistlethrush · 29/06/2011 23:45

Scout - really good news!

My last injection was, bad timing or what - on my EDD. I was so glad, 2 years later, that mini didn't make an appearance earlier than he did... another week earlier and it would have been a very bitter sweet birthdate.

Lol CMot - do you need to be sent some new binoculars in the next parcel? Can you PM me the rough location in the town we're both familiar with re your parents? Some leads being followed up......

Jacksmania · 30/06/2011 02:05

I must have missed something - mistle, injections for what? Are you ok? Sorry, I hope that's not prying.

Well, the sun chose this afternoon to come out and now it's gorgeous and sunny and warm - at 6 pm. In other words, way too late to do us any good.

And, FFS, it's been so wet here that I've found mushrooms in my plant pots. Angry
