The One and Only Tea Room - Now Hanging in Babylon

Well folks, here we are, transported through time and space to the Hanging Gardens of Babylon.

Golden couches and the distressed chintz sofa are arranged on a terrace overlooking the Euphrates and, as we recline on the exquisitely-soft cushions eating peeled grapes, we can enjoy the warm fragrance of the gardens' many exotic blooms. The garden is tended by the indefatigable Mellors, with occasional help from the bishops, rabbis and any passing world leaders. Somewhere behind the terrace there is an aga and a priest's hole, with optional massage table.

Please come and join us for a celebratory drink and conversation ranging from the profound to the profoundly silly.

and a

Oi- Mr Scout- hurry up home.

amberlight · 07/06/2011 19:41

Scout, heck! Shock what happened???!
Hugs, wine, whatever helps....

Scout19075 · 07/06/2011 19:50

He went over backwards down the steps (inside steps, not the front ones). "Just" a bloody nose and a fat lip. I watched it happen and couldn't catch him. He must have caught his face (he flipped, must have caught his face then flipped again because he landed on the floor on his back. Even though I knew I shouldn't move him motherhood took over my reasonable/rational side and I scooped him up when I saw him trying to roll over as he was screaming/crying. He had already rubbed his face so I couldn't see where the blood was pouring from. His head was covered as is my shirt.

999 operator and SUV ambulance man fabulously wonderful.

MrScout was on the tube to catch the train when I called him. He's coming straight home.

I've stopped shaking but am still very hot and feel sick. Gave TS a bath but didn't scrub at his face since whenever we'd go near it with tissue or wipes he'd scream. Gave him calpol for his face and teething. Will try to wake him in two hours to make sure.

I don't anticipate sleep tonight.

MaryBS · 07/06/2011 19:52

Aw, poor little mite! :( hugs and Wine

Scout19075 · 07/06/2011 19:52

I should say he had been playing for a good 1/2 hour when I did my first post -- obviously my priority was/is TS. But he was busy "talking on the phone" and didn't want me to interfere with him. He's bathed and bedded now and am waiting for MrScout.

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 07/06/2011 19:56

Oh Scout. Have some tea room Wine, some shortbread and a ((((hug)))).

amberlight · 07/06/2011 20:03

What did the ambulance people say about monitoring him?

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 07/06/2011 20:07

Do you have someone nearby who could come and keep you company until MrScout gets home?

OP posts:
Scout19075 · 07/06/2011 20:13

MrScout is home now.

The usual stuff about concussions vomitting, unable to arouse, etc. Yes to Calpol for pain (I was going to give him some for teething so asked if it was okay rational me ssaid it was, over-anxious mother said to check). Call them immediately if the above or go to the walk-in until 8 if I'm worried about anything else.

Tee2072 · 07/06/2011 20:22

How scary Scout. Try to get some rest. Maybe sleep with him so you don't have to get up to much to check on him? I will never forget when I dropped LCT but he's fine and Scout will be also.

Scout19075 · 07/06/2011 20:24

Sorry to start the night off on a downer. I think I was in shock and there was no one here but me.

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 07/06/2011 20:26

No need to apologise, Scout. We're here to listen.

Scout19075 · 07/06/2011 20:31

Just discussing with MrScout whether SS is now going to be coming around. Or the HV.

Scout19075 · 07/06/2011 20:32

He thinks I'm over-analyzing it all.

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 07/06/2011 20:35

I think SS only get involved if there's anything to suggest the injury wasn't accidental. I can't imagine they'd take any action here.

OP posts:
Tee2072 · 07/06/2011 20:37

You are over analysing it, Scout. They will notify the HV but I doubt you'll ever hear from them, unless you have a good relationship with her then she may ring to see if you're okay. That's what mine did when I dropped LCT.

I was investigated by SS when LCT fell out of my arms at 3 weeks. I never even spoke to anyone in SS, they spoke to the doctors and the staff on the ward (he was in hospital for 2 nights with a crack skull and ribs) and the investigation was dropped. We got a letter saying so and everything.

CMOTdibbler · 07/06/2011 20:42

When ds fell out of bed and split his chin necessitating a trip to the minor injury clinic in the night, the nurse said they always had to inform the HV and then it was up to them if they spoke to you. Ours didn't - but not unsuprising as we moved here when ds was 14 months and we only saw them to have a 2 year check with no contact at any other time

DS was fine the next day - I'm sure TS will be too

practicallyimperfect · 07/06/2011 20:44

Oh scout, bloody horrible. LittleMan launched himself out of a pushchair and landed on his head on solid floor at about 6 months, in Mothercare. Was horrible, but he was fine.

I don't think SS will be involved as there is no evidence of abuse.

I am in a hotel in North Wales, on my own- bliss! Am doing exam marking and meeting is tomorrow. So nice to have some space and time to myself!

Scout19075 · 07/06/2011 20:51

We did the review outside because it was the only place TS would stop screaming so we could check him over. Steps are along the outside wall to the outside and I was standing in the doorway holding him when he arrived. I was so hot I needed air to breathe. I tried to allow EMT in but TS wasn't having any of it (he always prefers outside to inside). Worried I'll be reported for not allowing entry.

I know TS will be okay and won't remember any of this. I'm just worried about "the system."

Tee2072 · 07/06/2011 21:03

Scout I am sure it was obvious o the EMTs that it was TS who was having trouble having them in, not you.

Really, please, stop worrying about it. Get as much rest as you can. It was as much of a shock to you as it was to him.

Scout19075 · 07/06/2011 21:08

I'm having my dinner, playing FB games. lol

However, MrScout watching some program about 24 hours in A&E and it's freaking me out a bit.

Scout19075 · 07/06/2011 21:25

Oh dear, crying TS. Well, at least I know he can be aroused. Grin

Scout19075 · 07/06/2011 21:37

Tee, how did the cupcake baking go?

practically, enjoy a hotel room alone. Right now I think I'd love a big bed to myself.

UniS, yes please to the punch with strawberries.

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 07/06/2011 21:41

Has Scout drunk all the punch?

::waggles glass hopefully::

beanandspud · 07/06/2011 21:44

Oh Scout, what a terrible evening. Have hugs and Wine from me.

Please don't worry about SS. We took Small Bean to A&E when he was little - he fell on the stairs trying to crawl up (I was right behind him) and he was diagnosed with groin strain. I was also paranoid that I would be reported but nothing ever came of it.
