The One and Only Tea Room - Now Hanging in Babylon

Well folks, here we are, transported through time and space to the Hanging Gardens of Babylon.

Golden couches and the distressed chintz sofa are arranged on a terrace overlooking the Euphrates and, as we recline on the exquisitely-soft cushions eating peeled grapes, we can enjoy the warm fragrance of the gardens' many exotic blooms. The garden is tended by the indefatigable Mellors, with occasional help from the bishops, rabbis and any passing world leaders. Somewhere behind the terrace there is an aga and a priest's hole, with optional massage table.

Please come and join us for a celebratory drink and conversation ranging from the profound to the profoundly silly.

good grief tea, I hadn't heard that one for about a hundred years!

and I was just thinking I love your MN name too, Practically!

Tee2072 · 05/06/2011 07:58

Morning all.

LCT Slept until 6! It's a lie in! Of course I slept like crap...

I'm making fried potatoes, scrambled eggs and bagels with cream cheese later. Who wants?

amberlight · 05/06/2011 08:11

Me! Me!

in answer to questions above, dancing is something I love, btw. And yes, feeling fine thanks. Never ask me to pick disco music - you would be astonished at the results! Grin

practicallyimperfect · 05/06/2011 08:36

Little man slept til 5.45 which counts as a lie in in this house! But Mrimperfect got up with him, so I got a proper lie in! Plus pain au chocolat breakfast in bed. Although littleman virtually sat on my head trying to muscle in on the pain au chocolat!

beanandspud · 05/06/2011 09:10

Yes please Tee! Brew

Small Bean up at 6:30 again. Fortunately he was happy to come into our bed and watch trains for an hour so didn't feel like so much of a rude awakening.

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 05/06/2011 12:07

But, Amber, I would love to be astonished by your choice in dancing music (disco or otherwise)!

::Polishes her dancing shoes::

We're just out to our local Big Lunch. Wonder if Mellors will be there?

Of course he will, since he will be chauffeuring you to the event in the Tea Room Rolls Royce (with luxury trailer for Donki).
Right, disco music later it is...

Now a nice bit of Prodigy or Linkin Park - that's proper music...

CMOTdibbler · 05/06/2011 20:42

I knew that would be your genre Amber Grin

Syfy (which we have found a few good programmes on recently) have been playing on trailers - which takes me right back

beanandspud · 05/06/2011 20:42

Maud - never mind the children I LOVE that one. It makes me smile every time. Especially Paddington. And the Jai Ho bit. And the Fat Controller.

I've had a big plate of (homemade) stirfry, a cornetto AND 1/4 bag of potato squares (not an individual size bag) and I STILL want something to eat but no idea what.

UniS · 05/06/2011 21:10

scout- have some chocolate and toffee. and then a few kettle chips.

Thanks for teh regular top ups to my hip flask, helped me to smile and nod smile and nod.
Back to normal school run and teh like tomorrow. DHs concert last night was VERY good indeed.

Scout19075 · 05/06/2011 21:12

Had chocolate earlier today and lemon cake at the kite festival. I guess a salad wouldn't would calorific....

Scout19075 · 05/06/2011 21:14

UniS, does your flask need another refill?

beanandspud · 05/06/2011 21:25

Scout - I have some leftover rhubarb and strawberry crumble I could 'send'?

UniS · 05/06/2011 21:26

flask is fine and dandy now inlaws have departed, thanks. My heart lifted when I found they would be departing after lunch. I had a much needed quiet afternoon doing a few chores and playing with boy.

Really must get on with one or two paper work jobs now. toodle pip.

PS- any one for porridge for breakfast? I'll get teh oats soaking.

Scout19075 · 05/06/2011 21:29

I just want a nice, decent, non-creepy gender neutral baby. And "boy" strollers/pushchairs for baby dolls are more expensive than girl ones -- would it be weird to get TS a pink stroller in the name of saving a few quid?

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 05/06/2011 21:35

UniS - What did Dh perform? What was the programme?

Scout - It is not odd at all to buy TS a pink stroller. What is odd is that even the toy ones are gendered. (You could have had Girl's blue and yellow stroller but I gave it to the pre-school just a couple of weeks ago). I can't think where to get a nice baby doll - have you trawled the toy shops in YOUT?

OP posts:
Scout19075 · 05/06/2011 21:49

All of the nice "neutral" ones are big money £29+. I've seen some for £60. Shock They have complete travel systems for dollies. I've given up on the shopping cart idea since they don't collapse hard to store at the moment -- and TS seems to like pushing the babies at the village tots group. Mom's making him a soft doll (when it arrives I'll post a picture in the other space) but it was originally due two months ago and as of Friday she hadn't started it yet, so I'm thinking of getting TS doll until his specially made one arrives.

Maud, I don't think I've been to YOUT since our tea. Well, I've been to the hospital but that's as far as I've gotten. I'm going to the hospital and for lunch at former-YOUT-employer on Friday -- maybe TS and I will go to former-YOUT-employer's-shop for books and the toy shops for a baby after lunch.

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 05/06/2011 21:53

If nothing else, you could try the Well-Known Department Store.

Scout19075 · 05/06/2011 21:54

UniS, yes please to oats in the morning. Can I have a toasted bagel as well?
