Broke the 3 poo rule

Thepollonator · 18/04/2024 10:07

My granddaughter is 2.5, fully potty trained but has been barred from her private nursery for two days as she has broken the above rule. There is nothing wrong with her she just went for 3 poos in one day! Does anyone else think that this is a ridiculous rule as they weren't even runny poos. My son has had to take two days off work to care for her!

“Barred from her private nursery”

they would have to be loose for her to be asked to go home and not return for 48hrs.

Anotherdayanotherdollar · 18/04/2024 10:09

Eh, what now?? They limit the number of times a child can poo on 1 day??

Astariel · 18/04/2024 10:09

Did she get sent home because of her, frequent loose bowel movements? That’s standard and in all the children’s interests.

Parenthood is taking time off work when your child has the shits. Even if you’re a man. 🤷🏻‍♀️

ridingfreely · 18/04/2024 10:10

That's one to remember to tell her when she's older

That's also ridiculous and having had my own children go through nursery I have never heard of that

Were u asked to help with childcare to cover this? Perhaps the story has been fabricated slightly to encourage your help? Were the poos soft for example and a risk she has a tummy bug?

AMistakePlusKeleven · 18/04/2024 10:10

It’s just one of those things you have to accept as a parent. Much better than a potential sickness bug running through the entire class. Three poos and I’d be thinking sickness bug too for my kids.

They were not runny! Also we know what parenthood is thanks!

Presumably the nursery think she has a stomach bug.

That means they think it could be symptomatic of a stomach bug and want to prevent it from spreading. Same reason that people are asked not to visit hospitals during norovirus season if they exhibit potential symptoms.

Oh gosh I did a typo. Ban me now.

Sorry but I don’t see the issue here. The nursery is clearly concerned about a stomach bug. If your son has an issue then he should take it up with them himself.
Not to be rude but posting here isn’t going to change the situation.

Luckily DH does not attend such a place. I have no idea how a person can go as many times a day as he does, no diarrhoea or constipation, just several normal shits a day………. Supposedly it indicates an optimal metabolism but it still think it’s weird.

My DH is exactly the same 😅

Oh god, my 2.5 yo always poops about 5-6 times a day. Nothing wrong with her, she's always just been a frequent pooper.

Usernamesarenoteasy · 18/04/2024 10:33

I'm a grown adult and I often poo 2 or more times a day. In fact I went three times just yesterday. I didn't realise that meant I could have 2 days off work!!!

LBOCS2 · 18/04/2024 10:35

I was reading an article about constipation recently and it said that normal was a scope but having one poo per meal was not outside the norm and showed healthy bowel movements.

So on this basis, I'd say that they're being unreasonable.

shearwater2 · 18/04/2024 11:59

They are being unreasonable unless it was diarrhoea and she seemed unwell.

I'm glad my workplace doesn't have a three poo rule for staff 😆

My normal BMs are two a day, it can easily end up being three.

LakeTiticaca · 18/04/2024 12:04

Normal solid bowel movements is not a stomach bug. Some people go every couple of days, some more than once a day.
I hope you have been refunded for the days your child was banned from attending

Itsokish · 18/04/2024 12:07

Ridiculous. What happened to common sense !
