Oh +++ARSE+++ (sorry but that is the least offensive word I can possibly put in the thread title)

So - I was about to change nursery - or rather DD was. Smaller, nicer, CHEAPER nursery, where the staff seem to interact more with the children, where I am more confident that they would not give my (then) 9 month old child juice rather than water, close to work, lovely staff, lovely manager....

And I would have had a 2 week break between nurseries and so saved some money

The new nursery have just called and told me that they are closing at the end of August.

I have already handed in notice at the old nursery

Oh Arse

(what I mean to say is fuckitybolloxyfuckshitfuck)

Oh NO. I am in the midst of trying to change too, and have no childcare for 6w from the beginning of Sept. Nightmare. Hope you find somewhere soon.

Trinityrhino · 06/08/2007 18:06

Oh norma darling
(I can call her that, I know her so it is a genuine term of endearment and concern )

you poor thing, any clue at all as to what you are going to do?

NormaStanleyFletcher · 06/08/2007 18:08

Thanks Trinity m'love

I am probably going to swear alot for the next few hours...

Then see if old nursery can keep her while searching for an alternative (I mean - is it normal to give 9 month old children juice rather than water?)

I have to say that I am gutted for the staff too - apparently they only found out 3 hours ago. For me it is a nursery place, but for them it is their job

OP posts:
Trinityrhino · 06/08/2007 18:10

no tis not normal and I know how mych you dont want to have her at the old nursery

how is the little scrumptious bum anywho??

Trinityrhino · 06/08/2007 18:10

aww bless ya for trying to keep perspective

NormaStanleyFletcher · 06/08/2007 18:12

She is asleep in the car outside the window at the moment

I will have to go wake her soon.

She took her first steps last week.

She is cute

WHAT?!!!!?!!! I missed her first steps

awwww how cute, well done normasdd1

and she is adorable and gorgeous

beansprout · 06/08/2007 18:17

I would be none too chuffed with juice. The place I want ds to go to doesn't do juice full stop (and they look after 2-5 yo's).

NormaStanleyFletcher · 06/08/2007 18:17

Though people keep calling her "he"?

Does she look like a boy?

OP posts:
NormaStanleyFletcher · 06/08/2007 18:18

Yes - the juice.

Some of the older ones in the baby room were drinking juice out of bottles

At least she just had it from a cup (afaik)

Why not see if there is a local childminder who could look after your DD until you have found another nursery. Some childminders are happy to provide short term or long term contracts.

NormaStanleyFletcher · 06/08/2007 20:14

I did have a childminder lined up in Jan - then her OH left her with a 2 week old baby, so she couldn't do CM in April - fair enough.

Most local CMs are full full full

I seem to be a jinx on childcare

lulumama · 06/08/2007 20:16

no, she doesn;t look like a boy, she is a beautiful doll like girl

juice in a bottle, WTF? at a nursery??

something will come up, it always does

fingers crossed

Trinityrhino · 06/08/2007 20:21

she most definitelt NOT look like a boy!!

some people....a boy!! tsk tsk

Trinityrhino · 06/08/2007 20:22

of course I meant to type does NOT.....

lulumama · 06/08/2007 20:26

how are you, trinity?

NormaStanleyFletcher · 06/08/2007 20:34

I have been dressing her entirely in pink

They still say what a cheerful child he is

Did you shower today trinity

I am now working myself up to speaking to old nursery tomorrow, and checking around for a non-juice-feeding one at the same time...

Deep sympathy, Norma - it gets me how parents have to give nurseries 3 months notice but they don't apparently have to give parents the same - we got lucky in as much as DS had just left before the nursery announced they were closing in 4 weeks.

I am sure you can retract your notice with the old one - far from ideal though it sounds - and then start the hunt again, I guess...poor you (and poor staff, of course)

NormaStanleyFletcher · 06/08/2007 23:29

Thing is - the nursery has been running for years - my friends child went there - oh- 7 years ago...

so why is it closing now!

i am going to ring them tomorrow and find out where the other children are going to go...

OP posts:
stealthsquiggle · 06/08/2007 23:31

Not to mention the nice staff - if they are good they will be snapped up and it would be worth finding out where they are going.
