My husband and I are in the process of setting up a nursery and would appreciate views on names.
What do you think of the name 'Little Knights' for a nursery and pre school? (Our surname is Knight)

It's ok, personally I don't like cutesy names for nurseries though and prefer a more school-style named after the street/area/significant person. At least it's spelled correctly.

TiggyD · 31/10/2015 13:19

Knights were/are all men though.

What kind of nursery is it going to be? USPs? "Educational", outdoor, family feel, special features etc?

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 31/10/2015 13:20

I'd assume it was boys nursery...

ThumbWitchesAbroad · 31/10/2015 13:21

It's going to be seen by a subsection of the population as directed only at boys, that's what I think. And therefore not ideal as a name.

LucyMouse · 31/10/2015 13:21

I too would assume boys-only

LornaMary1 · 31/10/2015 14:37

Thank you, that's helpful - this was our concern and you have confirmed it for us!
Back to the drawing board!
We are both currently teachers so usp would be educational but we are planning to keep it small so we don't loose a family feel...

I agree with others.

Nothing with 'little' in the title - it sounds too twee.
Knights - sounds too male dominated

Littlefish · 31/10/2015 14:41

How about something with the word "Learners" in the title then, or "explorers".

Artandco · 31/10/2015 14:44

Knights and Maidens Nursery

Best names for nurseries are ones that are almost aspirational. I like 'adventures in learning' and 'bright horizons'. How about something like 'Little Sparks'.

Oh I love the cute names.

My kids went to Alphabet Nursery, so sweet.

PotOfYoghurt · 31/10/2015 15:39

I have a strong sense of déjà vu.

Either you've asked this before or someone else wanted to set up a nursery called Little Knights.

Francoitalialan · 31/10/2015 15:43

Can you use your maiden name instead?

[prays OP was Lorna Mary Clutterbuck]

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 31/10/2015 16:22

Or Fucher Grin

JoeMommuh · 31/10/2015 16:24

What about an animal. "Sparrows Nursery" or similar. Quite neutral

Bloomsberry · 31/10/2015 16:26

Call it Children of the Revolution.

wevecomeonholidaybymistake · 31/10/2015 16:26

Glad you thought that Yoghurt. I am also getting a very strong sense of déjà vu.

Bloomsberry · 31/10/2015 16:27

Yes, PotOf, someone asked about calling a nursery either by exactly the same name or something similar. A while back, from what I remember.

yeOldeTrout · 31/10/2015 16:28

I like cute names, lol. Little Treasures?
But Knights doesn't work for me so well, sorry.

Ragwort · 31/10/2015 16:28

I loathe cute names too, just call it 'X road nursery/playschool' or whatever. Grin.

I would hate to say 'my child goes to Little Knights Nursery'. I quite like an 'educational' sounding name but appreciate I am probably in the minority.

I am so old that I actually remember my nursery school where we sat in rows and learned to write at 3 Grin.

Verypissedoffwife · 31/10/2015 16:28

Definitely don't call it Little Acorns

mamapants · 31/10/2015 16:29

It was a soft play wasn't it?
