Do you feel like your star sign?

So if you're Piscies do you associate with Piscies traits?

I was in a really cool Indian village three years ago and paid 50 pence to have my future told to me. The psychic lady didn't speak English but my friend did and translated.

She immediately guessed my star sign and my partners and was correct then told me certain star signs I must avoid having for my children and others that would work really well. I made a mental note of these!

Now I am going to TTC soon I feel absolutely crazy that I am even taking this into consideration!

I'm wondering if anyone actually feels like their star sign and if everyone says no I think that will knock a bit of sense into me.

Yes I totally identify with my star sign, I always have. I don’t agree with figuring out star signs that suit for your children though, that seems mad

TeenToTwenties · 24/05/2026 13:37

Well, no, because I don't believe that everyone born within a 4 week time period share a significant set of common traits that others don't.

BuffetTheDietSlayer · 24/05/2026 13:37

If she’s truly psychic then why is she telling fortunes for 50p instead of using her skills to live a life not in poverty.

DustyMaiden · 24/05/2026 13:37

No. I had to look up what I was supposed to be like and definitely not.

DelphiniumBlue · 24/05/2026 13:37

Babies are often not born on schedule: all 3 of mine were 3-4 weeks off due date. Not sure how you'll factor that in.

getearnow · 24/05/2026 13:39

No I think it’s ridiculous and if you look into it, there are actually 13 star signs. This throws off a lot of the dates and a lot of people aren’t the star signs they think they are.

Myoldbear · 24/05/2026 13:42

I am very much like my star sign, but have observed that people from all star signs generally get on with each other.

I'm not supposed to get on with the person I like one of the best.(Family member too!)

wensie · 24/05/2026 14:01

@BuffetTheDietSlayer I never said she lived in poverty, she didn't seem poor to me and 50p was just the going rate for the locals, may have been expensive I don't know.

@Myoldbear I've noticed this too! A lot of the big personality women I know are Aries

No, quite simply. Some traits I’ve read match, others don’t. I imagine it’s the same for most people

Walker1178 · 24/05/2026 14:06

I don’t believe in it so it annoys me that I am very typical of my sign, almost to the letter. My DS21 is a completely different sign though and we’re very alike. But surely that’s what you expect? DC tend to inherit their personality and interests from their parents not from the time of year they were born!

DP and I are also supposed to be one of the worst matches, I’m pretty glad I didn’t rule him out due to his birthday.

HermioneWeasley · 24/05/2026 14:12

It is all nonsense. Please don’t let it occupy any brain space when you’re deciding whether or not to start a family

WallaceinAnderland · 24/05/2026 14:14

You can't really plan when your child is born, how does that even work? If you don't get pregnant in the month you want to conceive, do you wait a whole year before trying again?

mintirn · 24/05/2026 14:18

I am quite a lot like my chart, Libra with Pisces rising. However I know people who really aren't like my husband who is Aries but doesn't really come across as such, much more of an Earth sign type personality but without much of that in his chart.

Funnily enough when I was younger and used to real an old astrology book we had lying about I used to really identify with the Pisces description even though I was Libra so when I found out I had Pisces rising I wasn't surprised.

The true chart is really complex though with lots of literally moving parts so if you look at it all you will find things you can identify with quite strongly. What I really like about the imagery of astrology is the way it kind of envisions a person as a kind of inner cosmos with different constellations of traits each part of us affecting the other as they come into aspect. Which in a way is very true when you think about how our genetics, temperament and traits, early life experiences and relationships as well as how we develop all are constantly coming into aspect with each other as we go though life shaping our experience and reactions. So I think the "chart" is a rather beautiful analogy for our inner realm and experience of ourselves and others.

It is weird when I was younger almost all the very close friends I had were Cancers about 4 of them between the ages of 7 and 30ish (I'm Libra). In the end these relationships always ended because I felt they demanded too much blind loyalty even when they were behaving quite badly in what I felt was a controlling way to myself or others. I think they felt I was too evasive and not as invested emotionally as they wanted me to be.

Probably a fluke but so strange that they were all Cancers. I've also noticed I have much better relationships with Fire and Earth Signs than Air or Water (even though my own chart is all air and water). Sagittarius people seem to love me and most of my longest lasting friendships have been with Taureans and Capricorns. Also if I see a man I find attractive he'll almost always be a Fire or Earth Sign, especially Capricorn men and especially if they are born in January.

Its probably all a fluke but interesting none the less!

wensie · 24/05/2026 14:40

I do think it's a bit of fun!

@WallaceinAnderland I was told to avoid Scorpio as that's the worst match. And not have a Capricorn or Taurus. (She also said to avoid signs on the cusp which means a few days out of these signs but technically in a different sign)

The best matches for me for my child were all the fire signs, Cancer, Piscies, and Libra. She told me to only have a child in these.

So there wouldn't have to wait a year as it's 50% of the signs.

I think it's all a load of nonsense really but I am a Virgo and by some fluke I totally match all the traits you ever read for Virgos.

ilovemynails · 24/05/2026 14:52

Oh heck I was born on the cusp. Taurus and Gemini.
I have some traits of both signs. DH is a typical Cancer.
Both of our children were 8 weeks and 12 weeks early so what does that mean.

SleepingStandingUp · 24/05/2026 14:57

do star signs work on when you came out the womb or when you were due so based on your conception date?

my twins are sagi but should be capricorns by due date.
my eldest is Gemini but should be cancer by due date.

honestly op I think conception is hard enough, I wouldn't be trying one month and then not for a month and then the next one in case you get the wrong birth date. babies are stinkers. they just come on their own bloody schedule or it'll take ages to concieve or it'll happen sooner than you realise. don't make life harder than it needs to be

seaweedhead · 24/05/2026 14:58

Just checked mine: "Geminis are brilliant communicators who thrive in social settings." That is not me at all!

YoBetty · 24/05/2026 14:58

It is nonsense. When I was in 6th form, several of us would have a packed lunch together in the classroom and we used to read the teacher's newspaper. Once a week it printed star signs for the week ahead and it became my 'thing' to read everybody's out. I'd ask each friend what their star sign was, and read theirs out loud. For two years solid I did this, and they all agreed how accurate they were. Except I didn't. I'd read the previous month's star sign predictions instead and nobody ever twigged.

wensie · 24/05/2026 14:59

it works on when they come out the womb it's no different if they were early or not, it's the position of the stars at the time of birth

That’s interesting @getearnow
I never felt like I was typical of my star sign so I checked the 13 star signs and, right enough, I belong now to a different one and the traits given are more “me”.

PoppieCock · 24/05/2026 15:01

Load of old shit considering there are over 8 billion people in the world.

You could take the 'traits' of any star sign and apply some of them to all of those people.

WallaceinAnderland · 24/05/2026 15:02

wensie · 24/05/2026 14:59

So even if all your planning is successful, a premature baby would throw that off?
