Do you feel like your star sign?

So if you're Piscies do you associate with Piscies traits?

I was in a really cool Indian village three years ago and paid 50 pence to have my future told to me. The psychic lady didn't speak English but my friend did and translated.

She immediately guessed my star sign and my partners and was correct then told me certain star signs I must avoid having for my children and others that would work really well. I made a mental note of these!

Now I am going to TTC soon I feel absolutely crazy that I am even taking this into consideration!

I'm wondering if anyone actually feels like their star sign and if everyone says no I think that will knock a bit of sense into me.

For any interested, I give you,...... the Barnum effect.

pinkpony88 · 24/05/2026 15:07

I always think of it as a load of rubbish. However I am 100% my star sign 🤷‍♀️

I'm a Cancer, and definitely have Cancer traits
-im a homebody
-i have a tendency to be over sensitive and get hurt easily
-i tend to hold onto old grudges
-many Cancerians go onto the caring professions and I'm a nurse
-im very loyal
-its a water sign and I love swimming and being near the sea

I don't read my horoscopes or anything though.

I do think it's a bit of fun!

@WallaceinAnderland I was told to avoid Scorpio as that's the worst match. And not have a Capricorn or Taurus. (She also said to avoid signs on the cusp which means a few days out of these signs but technically in a different sign)

The best matches for me for my child were all the fire signs, Cancer, Piscies, and Libra. She told me to only have a child in these.

So there wouldn't have to wait a year as it's 50% of the signs.

They aren’t the fire signs. Pisces and Cancer are water (as is Scorpio).

eta I may have misread and you are saying fire signs PLUS those - sorry!

Myoldbear · 24/05/2026 15:10

@mintirn It certainly is interesting.

There's a lot out there that we don't understand!

do you mean, all the fire signs PLUS cancer Pisces Libra, as with 3xfire signs, 2xwater, 1xair, you only need to rule out earth signs, Capricorn, Taurus, Virgo
as suggested to you already and there you are, sorted!
You didn’t say which sign you are? and do you know which animal you are in
the Chinese astrological charts?

WallaceinAnderland · 24/05/2026 15:18

Ok so I asked google.

To have a child in one of your preferred signs you would need to conceive -

late December to mid January and if that didn't work then

no unprotected sex until late May to mid June and if that didn't work then

stop ttc again until late September to mid October.

So you have a window right now but if that's too soon then you are really limiting your options for getting pregnant.

Squirrelsnut · 24/05/2026 15:25

True astrology is fascinating, I think. The blunt instrument 'sun sign' horoscope stuff is what gives astrology a bad name.

wensie · 24/05/2026 15:52

yes it's 6 signs total- all the fire signs plus three others that would be ok for me!

@BuffetTheDietSlayer I never said she lived in poverty, she didn't seem poor to me and 50p was just the going rate for the locals, may have been expensive I don't know.

@Myoldbear I've noticed this too! A lot of the big personality women I know are Aries

Funny you should say this as the family member I mentioned is Aries and I'm Pisces.

We're both very true to our signs yet we get on really well, but I don't think we're supposed to!

PinkPerpetue · 24/05/2026 16:17

I’m Aries with cancer and Sagittarius. People I find difficult to get along with alway turn out to be Gemini. I just seem to click with other fire signs

cupfinalchaos · 24/05/2026 17:18

Had I pushed 5 minutes earlier dd would’ve been a different star sign as she was born at 12.05am, so no, I don’t believe it in the slightest.. having said that I’m a Libra and the judge, jury and executioner.

Scarlettjune · 24/05/2026 17:20

Yes!

I used to be obsessed with star signs and horoscopes in my 20s. I stopped after I had convinced myself that one yearly horoscope was telling me that I would get back together with an ex who had dumped me. I spent several months on hold waiting for this to happen, and it didn’t.

In terms of are we like our star sign? I’m Libra and I think I probably am. DH is also Libra though and he doesn’t share the qualities I have that fit with being a libran.

In terms of trying to time when you conceive so that your baby will be a particular star sign - just don’t even go there! Some people conceive straight away, others can take years. And even once you are pregnant, your baby can easily arrive a couple of weeks early or late. You also don’t want to start convincing yourself that your baby needs to be of a particular sign or characteristics, because then what happens when they are not ?

Please just forget about this.

Deadringer · 24/05/2026 17:45

I dont believe in any of that stuff, but from what I have read, I have all the typical characteristics of my star sign.

StarCourt · 24/05/2026 17:59

I do not believe in star signs at all but mine describes me to a T

SerendipityCat · 24/05/2026 18:08

I had a quick look at typical Capricorn characteristics -

Capricorn likes: Family, tradition, music, understated status, quality craftsmanship
Capricorn dislikes: Almost everything at some point

So true, especially the dislikes!

ImpatientlyWaitingForSummer · 24/05/2026 19:23

I do 100%, I don’t know why because it’s not a very “me” trait to care about stuff like that. But I remember being a teenager and first seeing typical Taurus characteristics and thinking holy shit that’s me. Since then I’ve been a bit fixated on it! Meanwhile I couldn’t even tell you what my children’s starsigns are because again, I normally really don’t care about stuff like that. It’s bizarre

Scarlettjune · 24/05/2026 19:32

Yes I'm Aquarius. We are meant to be humanitarian, unusual, unique. I am like that

Mrspatmoresapprentice · 24/05/2026 19:34

I am exactly like my star sign. That’s as far as I take it though, it means nothing else to me.

Scarlettjune · 24/05/2026 19:37

I think we are like our star sign because of conformity. We are told we are something so we believe it.

Also we could fit into any star sign. I'm Aquarius. I fit into the stereotype for that. I'm also emotiona like a Pisces, strong like a Taurus. I could fit into any of them really

Arran2024 · 24/05/2026 19:37

I am Virgo and have Virgo in so many areas of my chart, it's ridiculous - I had my chart read by an astrologist who said she had never seen anything like it. And yes I am quite strongly Virgo as you can imagine.

sanityisamyth · 24/05/2026 19:40

TeenToTwenties · 24/05/2026 13:37

Well, no, because I don't believe that everyone born within a 4 week time period share a significant set of common traits that others don't.

This. It’s all bollocks. What is an Aquarius supposed to feel like, anyway?

You are supposed to be unique, unusual, humanitarian, follow your own path, stand up for causes, independent. I am aquarius
