Getting assessment v soon and will be shocked if I don’t have it.
After trying and failing anti depressant medication several times(I seem to be super sensitive)
i am keen to try adhd medication if offered.
My mind never stops.
Was medication life changing for you?

No. The titration process was too much for me unfortunately.

My Perfect medication solution has been elvanse 60mg and 10mg dexampetamine afternoon top up. I’m so much more productive at work but now because of my rejection sensitivity, I tend to end up doing the lion’s share of the work in my team because I can but becoming burnt out and a bit resentful of my boss and colleagues for sitting back and letting me do more than anyone else. I’ve been working on my boundaries with this.
I also find that my pmt week/ 10 days is becoming absolutely unmanageable in terms of mood and this is confusing me as I don’t know whether it’s due to the meds not working as well with the hormonal shift or peri-menopause or what.
It does worry me how addicted I now am and when there was a global shortage of Elvanse last year, my ADHD symptoms felt worse than ever and this made me low and knocked my confidence.
I’m so bad at eating properly and just grab biscuits and junk food which I really need to get on top of.
So while the meds have certainly made my life better in terms of focus and self esteem, it hasn’t helped with my avoidance of social situations due to not having the time to process the emotions involved in such things and this makes me sad.

Would you mind explaining a bit more about this if you don't mind?

I had an adhd diagnoses 18 months ago & have been on various medication.. I'm now 55, had coping mechanisms for it all my life but during menopause & a life change these went away & the adhd exploded. I started on Elvanse which gradually increased to 75mg but that was too much, reduced back down but the side effects were dry mouth & didn't give me the initial results I had so they switched me to concerts xl. Started in 18, then 36 & I so expats had 18, sine 36, sine days 2 x 18 some none. It depended. They are in short supply so now on 27mg. The medication helps me with tics, clumsiness, better sleep, eating, calmness , procrastination & concentration.. it's not a cure but helps. I also control my diet, exercise, make lists & use my diary to the hilt! Side effects are not great.. I'm still actually trying to work out how to not get them. So dry mouth, sore tongue, agitated at night are the main ones which can stop me taking meds for a few days every week or two so they dissipate. My worry is taking these long term, I'm very fit & healthy so am unhappy about taking these meds. I'm looking into more natural things like lions mane, herbs, supplements etc. I keep taking them as the tics I have are horrible so I need to find something to get rid of them. I'd say try them as we are all different.
