Anyone else as furious as me that the clocks go forward on Sunday?

I am a person of routine. A routine that requires me to be out of the house at a certain time. I need to do the entire routine to feel happy. But now I will have to get used to waking up an hour earlier. I hate waking up earlier Angry

If anyone else would like to rant about the clocks going forward feel free to do it here :)

Can you not read bold writing Kitkat?

LazyYogi · 25/03/2022 07:21

Ignore the above post OP. It's an annoying and pointless change. I say we split the difference by half an hour one year and then never change them again!

BathTangle · 25/03/2022 07:23

And how exactly is that meant to help, Kitkat151? OP wanted to vent about something that matters to them: and the note at the top asks people to please be respectful.

Svara · 25/03/2022 07:26

I like it personally, it's an important seasonal transition for me (ND). I'd miss it if it was gone (and I'd be especially annoyed if they didn't fix it at summer time year round).

I agree :)

This clock change is like having jet lag after going on holiday... except I haven't been on holiday :( Maybe this is the key, that I need to go to a country an hour ahead a few days before the time change Grin

Oh, yes, I dread it. Far more than the clocks going back, it throws me out of kilter for at least a week. And it seems 'unfair' when I wake up at, say, 6:30 am and it 'should' be 5:30 am so I have another hour and a half before getting up. I wish we had year-round GMT.

HeDidWhattt · 25/03/2022 07:38

I’ve been naturally waking up earlier and really pleased about it, now the clocks are going forward I’m a bit gutted.

ComDummings · 25/03/2022 07:41

Can’t we just leave the clocks alone now, is there actually any need to move them any more?

ThisTownAintBigEnoughForBoth · 25/03/2022 07:44

I find it very stressful with ND children who need a lot of support at bedtime. I will end up sitting til midnight with them trying to settle them and then need time to wind down myself. It seems a stupid system to me, almost mediaeval!

Some people have very poor reading and comprehension skills and have ZERO respect for the fact that this is a board for ND's. Thankfully MN acted on the reports.

However, the message at the top of the board needs to be made stronger/bolder; multiple requests for this change have been made by me (and I hope others have too) to MNHQ BTW.

I really dread this clock change, my body clock is set firmly in GMT. I have a very sensitive circadian rhythm.

Like a lot of autistic people I have bouts of insomnia, so the clock changes really messes up my routine and consequently I am often unwell between March and October due to the clock change, lack of sleep and overload of light.

I envisage the above is going to be compounded by the fact that I've recently started ADHD meds and they're really affecting my sleep.

I hate the clocks going forward and just wish they'd leave them alone, to remain set in GMT.

DysmalRadius · 25/03/2022 08:12

It's too late for this year, but I knew someone who used to change the clocks by 5 minutes a day in the lead up to clocks changing to get her kids through the process smoothly.

BarrowInFurnessRailwayStation · 25/03/2022 08:36

The cats'll be happy because they'll get fed earlier 🤦‍♀️

HoldMeCloseImTryingToDanceHere · 25/03/2022 08:44

My 15 year old DS was fuming about this yesterday. It’s the first year he’s been aware of the clock changes being an actual ‘thing’ and he feels like the world is a big lie now.
He’s also got a routine in place and it’s going to mess it all up again.

You are not alone!

theotherfossilsister · 25/03/2022 08:46

I really love it. From January I count daylight minutes and sunset sunrise times until the clocks change. I'm a bit obsessive about it but I love daylight and I'm scared of walking places alone in the dark.

AchillesPoirot · 25/03/2022 08:50

I love the change because I’m an early riser and I’m not awake so early 😳

airrrrAIRRRRiELLLL · 25/03/2022 09:28

Pros - uses less electricity and safer for children going to and from school. I was going to school during the BST experiment in the late 60s and it was scary in the dark. Thank goodness we reverted in 1972. Feel bad for those of you that have difficulty adjusting.

Maflingo · 25/03/2022 09:35

I understand too.

I really struggle with mornings already, and have to set multiple alarms, not just to wake up, but to remember all the stuff I need to do to get out the door for school run & work (brush teeth, shower, get dressed, pack lunch, wake DD, give dd clothes, etc!!)

I feel so cheated out of that time!

Seriouslymole · 25/03/2022 09:36

I am not ND (I am very boringly NT) but I do think the whole thing is totally unnecessary and it used to infuriate me when the kids were little and bedtimes and early rising were such a battle anyway.

You have my sympathy OP. Could you change by half an hour tonight and half tomorrow so it's not quite such a horrid change?

Clarice99 · 25/03/2022 11:19

Totally get that!

I swear my cats can tell the time on the clocks around the house 🙄

Scautish · 25/03/2022 19:30

Totally understand why it would be disruptive for routines but personally i like it as the evenings are lighter. I’m also Scottish and know how badly needed the clock change is for children’s safety in the winter. So I’m always going to defend it. I understand for those further south it may just seem like a nuisance.

Fernandina · 25/03/2022 19:34

I don't mind the clocks changing at all. I'm used to it happening, and wouldn't be happy if they didn't do it. It also means that the clock in my car will be telling the right time again.

Bit fed up that we only get 23 hours of Mothers Day instead of 24 though!

Clarice99 · 25/03/2022 19:37

No, it's not that the clock change just seem like a nuisance.

Are you ND @Scautish?
