Anyone else as furious as me that the clocks go forward on Sunday?

I am a person of routine. A routine that requires me to be out of the house at a certain time. I need to do the entire routine to feel happy. But now I will have to get used to waking up an hour earlier. I hate waking up earlier Angry

If anyone else would like to rant about the clocks going forward feel free to do it here :)

Oh dear me! I just saw the title in active conversations and I was like "Yes I am" and then I remembered I started this thread Grin

The truth is by next week I'll be fine and it'll be another year before I have to go through it all over again.

Not furious no and not emotionally upset by it but acutely aware that I find it difficult to adjust. If I remember I will take melatonin on Saturday and Sunday nights and get as much sun as possible on Sunday to help my body clock shift. Same as I do when travelling.

If anything I find the whole thing a little bit uplifting as in winter I struggle more with low moods so the clocks going forward signal 6 months of on-average-less-shitty mental health, yay! Also gardening is a really important activity for me and there is more opportunity for that in summer. And more daylight hours for dog walking also important. So on the whole the change is positive. Just have to recognise that it’s not an automatically easy adjustment.

I like the autumn change with an extra hour.
Spring forward, Fall back.

Time and clocks are a strange construct, though, when you think about it.

@Scautish

Totally understand why it would be disruptive for routines but personally i like it as the evenings are lighter. I’m also Scottish and know how badly needed the clock change is for children’s safety in the winter. So I’m always going to defend it. I understand for those further south it may just seem like a nuisance.
Same, I'm in the very North, I love routine but I'm so looking forward to a bit more light

I didn't read scautish's post as dismissive I thought she was talking about the clock changes might feel a nuisance (ie why they change, it might feels pointless/a nuisance if further south changing them) not people's reaction to it. 🤷‍♀️

Well now I’m really furious.
I got up at 5.06 am to let the the cat out because my stupid, tired brain though ‘well it’s 6am really’ … and now I’m wide awake. Angry

LemonViolet · 26/03/2022 05:41

Wait has it happened already? Just got up to let dogs out/cats in, because doggo2 woke me up to ask to go, and it is very light already, I’m confused now thought it was tomorrow .

Thank heavens at least that now clocks/phones etc change their time settings on their own, so people don’t end up getting to work early/late when they get mixed up!

Svara · 26/03/2022 06:02

Yes, I've been awake since five and the cats are up and waiting. It is still tomorrow the clocks change it's just that the equinoxes are the time of greatest change in sunrise/sunset times and daylength so when the long dark winter is over it all changes quite quickly. I love this time of year, it feels like I am suddenly thrown into summer.

mowly77 · 26/03/2022 06:11

Im NT and I bloody hate it. I think we should do away with it altogether. My ND partner is slightly less bothered but he hates change but will probably also forget - so I’ll have to change all the analogue clocks too. He collects clocks … but is always asking me the time. ❤️

Saintofsanto · 26/03/2022 06:39

It's the clock changing back in the Autumn the one we should all be cross about. We'd get lighter evenings for a lot longer! Children and pets don't understand either so yes it's unnecessary and frustrating. I look forward to the spring one and so can cope better with the adjustment needed.

Why is the winter change important for children in Scotland? When does it get light before/after?
Rosehugger · 26/03/2022 06:52

Not, clocks go forward tonight - well strictly at 1am tomorrow I think.

Anotherhealthcondition · 26/03/2022 07:35

No I was saying my stupid, tired brain though it was today.

Im2022 · 26/03/2022 07:43

I’m not ND, and I bloody hate it too. Getting up an hour early plays with my body for at least a few days, but overall I do prefer this clock (once I’m used to it), to the winter change.

Yes, it's too early, I'd like the US dates, earlier in March then don't put them back until November.
LemonViolet · 26/03/2022 11:09

Ah I get you sorry. I was tired brain too! Blush

It feels very summery today. I’m at work and have the air con on.

DfuckingP · 26/03/2022 11:27

I wish they didn't ever change.

Read this and thought of this thread! This person founded campaign against hour changing and they are ND as well Smile

duvetdayforeveryone · 27/03/2022 09:19

Well... the clocks have gone forward and I'm still here to tell the tale :)

@LemonViolet I couldn't read the whole article but I agree that it does sound like me :P

Just been through the joy of changing the clock on the microwave - always involves trial and error where I switch the empty microwave on and off a couple of times, and then set a nine hour timer.

BertieBotts · 29/03/2022 13:50

My body clock is happier with standard time too. I often think I should move to Spain - they have such a messed up time zone I'd probably be in sync there :o

Weirdly this year it hasn't bothered me, I think because we were all ill leading up to it so it happened to coincide with me getting more sleep and not feeling absolutely wrecked.
