Asalamualaykum all
I have been so busy with the kids this half term, that it has just dawned on me now that there isn't long left for Eid.
I created this thread to share all things Eid!
Everyone have their outfits sorted?
I also wanted to ask do your DC take chocolates or sweets in to school to share with their class for eid?
My DC normally take in a box of celebrations but was thinking if anyone else does anything different?

They won't be going madrasah for a few days because of it so will be missing out on the story of Ibraheem and Hajar alyhis Salam and the significance of their sacrifices and it's relation with Hajj.
I'm hoping to do some fun learning activities with them at home once they are abit better, any resources or ideas feel free to share 😊

Oh no the last thing you need @Parkingt111 In Sha Allah they feel better soon. Mine all had it too it’s horrible and I pray it doesn’t last long x

There's an online learning site you could use it's called Journey 2 Jannah

Springchickenonion · 10/06/2024 17:18

Wa aleykum selam! We still need to sort our our qurbani. I haven't organised anything. No new outfits this year. And I'm lucky my kids are ace and I I told them they have a £25 budget for a gift each this year as we are saving for a medical bill for DH.

I do a gift for each child at school for the end of Ramadan. But not this eid.

Scirocco · 10/06/2024 17:21

Hope everyone feels better soon, insha'Allah @Parkingt111 .

We don't really do expensive eid gifts either. I suppose also because they are still young too. You can get something lovely for £25

@Parkingt111 100% I just felt a bit guilty as I normally spent a bit more. But they where great. To be honest they don't really ask or expect anything, so that's good. They are 5, 7, 9 and 11.

Not sure we have any plans this year. Is anyone going to any gatherings?

Some bigger cities are doing Eid salah in the parks. I would have liked to have gone but il see on the day depending on how the DC are

The mosque which does it in the park does it on the day after we’ve done Eid so that always annoying.

That's frustrating. My family is also split in two with some doing eid the next day so I have had to quickly sort something out for the DC for the next day too.
I think it's time we all united and did Eid on the same day in the UK.
I think there's a new committee now that is trying to encourage everyone to come together and rely on sightings in the UK and not abroad as that's where the division comes from.

Inshallah @Parkingt111 it is frustrating and school doesn't understand why some if us do one way and others another 😅

I don't think we have anything planned this year.

@Parkingt111 true. I’m always baffled with Eid ul Adha as the prerequisite is the process running up to Hajj, so how can Eid then be on a different day.

anotherlevel · 12/06/2024 20:07

How are your DCs doing @Parkingt111 ?

It's because the sighting of the moon that marks the first day of dhul hijjah varies, and accordingly the 10th of the month (Eid day) will vary depending on which countries sighting you follow. I believe Saudi is one of the very few countries who sighted it early and most other countries are doing Eid on Monday.

Oh no sounds like they've had it quite bad. In Sha Allah the new meds help them. I pray Allah makes it easy for you all

Parkingt111 · 12/06/2024 21:07

@anotherlevel Ameen! I think it's because they have all taken it in turns to fall ill, so one gets better and the next one starts.

OP posts:
anotherlevel · 12/06/2024 21:12

@Parkingt111 that's exactly what happened here. 2 weeks worth of sickness. It wasn't fun at all.

Springchickenonion · 12/06/2024 21:20

I felt that. One sickness can last weeks here too

Parkingt111 · 15/06/2024 10:41

The day of Arafah today. Remember me and the whole ummah in your duas on this blessed day

Inshallah!

Our boiler is playing up. We have heating on but the thermostat is off but no hot water. Can't wash up, shower and dishwasher decided to pack up at the same time!

Estate agents aren't answering. 😅

And 2 staff members not turned up to work. It's been a morning!
