Pendulum - Would you go to a concert?

If you are in your 30's? with a baby and a toddler at home?

I have been asked if I want to go, free ticket.

I am not averse to a bit of rock, in fact I am quite into it, loving Foo Fighters, Queens of the Stone Age, as a yoof I was into Metallica, NIN etc, but have mellowed in recent years. Are Pendulum anywhere the same league?

Would I have to get very drunk?

Go girl..! you'll have a great time

BabbatheHun · 27/05/2010 19:44

So, should I just say, no thanks give me some guitar music and a cup of hot chocolate instead?

Or, bring out my chain jeans and get DH to deal with a screaming baby put the children to bed?

They are a fantastic band.....you'd be crazy to turn the ticket down...honestly....you must go.

harleyd · 27/05/2010 19:51

up loud girl!
seriously you'll have a great nite

OnlyWantsOne · 27/05/2010 19:52

go

go

go

SoupDragon · 27/05/2010 19:53

No, I'd send the ticket to a dragon...

BabbatheHun · 27/05/2010 19:54

Ok, so I am going to say yes.

My main concerns are

  1. my friend is a drunk and likely to be off her face before we even get there. Up to her, but I don't fancy propping her up all night at the bar. Unless she is paying. I shall work on that one
  2. My lil boy has never been left before. DH has not put him to bed before. He likes his milk and his bedtime is around, well now (he is feeding as we speak). DH said it is only one night so just go and as long as ds has had all his milk, he will cope with a crying baby, he will go to sleep eventually. So its only my at leaving him now.

But, what the hell. 2 years ago, i would be there without thinking. I feel so old now!

Hmmm, not sure what advice to give about your friend, I'd just leave her at the bar, go and rock out to pendulum and pick her up off the floor on my way home...(ha ha)

Re; ds....he'll be fine, it's only one night. Will do you good to get out and be a great opportunity for your dh to get used to putting ds to bed....

BabbatheHun · 27/05/2010 20:18

I just spoke to my friend, as DH had told me about the ticket. Bless her. She said 'i thought you could do with a night out, so it is my treat' when what she meant was, my other friend has pulled out, and no-one else wants to go! I would not have been offended with the truth, and she is such a bad liar! I just said 'aw that is lovely of you, yes, it would be a nice treat'

OP posts:
daftpunk · 27/05/2010 20:20

...

let us know how the night went...

BabbatheHun · 27/05/2010 20:22

Well no backing out now, I said yes, and I am sure she would try to guilt me about it if not, pretending she is buying it for me and all, not the friend who pulled out!

I was just a bit about whether I am a bit too old for this kind of music now.

I am going to be surrounded by a pile of teenage goths aren't i?

Have a great time! This is from someonewho has never heard of the band,[oldie emoticon] but who thinks you will have fun & do your friend a favour too. Your little one will be fine and you can be 'you'.
I saw my favourite band on Saturday & got to cwtch the lead singer!

daftpunk · 27/05/2010 20:28

No you're not too old, you're seeing Pendulum not JLS ...

..don't forget Pendulum have been going a good few years...7 or 8 maybe..??

SixtyFootDoll · 27/05/2010 20:29

I'll go if you dont want to, and I am the wrong side of 30

Jbck · 27/05/2010 20:34

I'm the wrong side of the one above 30 and I'd go if any of my old fogie friends would.

The baby will be fine and you can leave your friend at the bar, enjoy the night out.

AngeChica · 27/05/2010 20:37

saw footage of last years' Galasto and they looked amazing live. I have had a gig black hole in recent years but have been to a couple lately, and was shocked at the fashion parade they seem to have become. Band T-shirt and leggings doesn't seem to cut it these days..... everyone looks like they are in an episode of Skins.

AngeChica · 27/05/2010 20:39

Glasto

ravenAK · 27/05/2010 20:44

Go! A bit dull & almost proggy for my liking really, but I bet they're much better live...

harleyd · 27/05/2010 20:46

since when was 30's considered old
dont be an eejit woman

BabbatheHun · 27/05/2010 20:50

raven that is what I am thinking. Live they are probably going to be good, but then, it is in a shite hole of a venue. Which is a shame. The acoustics are terrible. I saw Jack Johnson there, and James (oh that takes me back), and they were both dreadful, but I know neither were dreadful, just acoustics messed them up.

daftpunk i was a bit concerned they were like those teeny rock bands. I can't remember the names of some of them, you know, like skater rock?

OP posts:
daftpunk · 27/05/2010 20:52

pendulum live

deffo not dull

BabbatheHun · 27/05/2010 20:52

harly oh no don't get me wrong, 30's is not old. But I am feeling very old atm, due to wrinkly skin (lack of sleep) and very very grey hair (had my first at 19, dyed it red, and lots of other colours, and now, no time, so my dark and lights are growing out). BUT, I will be able to dye it before the weekend .

And I do^ have skinny jeans with a chain on
