Yes I loved their music. I no longer have their albums. I will hunt for them on youtube.

belgo · 13/03/2009 08:50

dignity

squeaver · 13/03/2009 08:51

Now you're showing your age. I'm so old that I saw Deacon Blue live at their height when I was a grown-up.

LurkerOfTheUniverse · 13/03/2009 09:21

the boy singer (ricky?) was lovely

didn't the 2 singers get married and have babies together?

MrsMuddle · 13/03/2009 09:35

Ricky Ross is married to Lorraine, and Dougie Vipond is a BBC sports presenter.

Squeaver, I think I might be as old as you. I saw them a couple of times as an adult, and thought about going to see them when they played here recently.

Although I liked Deacon Blue, I prefered Hue and Cry.

(And - I'm really showing my age here - Hipsway)

ooh hipsway www.youtube.com/watch?v=CPQwCrJ7LmE

Deacon Blue are playing locally to us (we are in scottish highlands) and I am wondering whether to go & see them or not. I still have all their music and still love it when I play it

I got to see them a few years back when I won a competition on Radio Clyde (actually no it was Radio 1) to see them at King Tuts in Glasgow. I got a kiss from Dougie

Oh, I couldn't stand the woman. And Hue & Cry are so boring and awful they make me feel angry.

Yes Lorraine is the very definition of "hard-faced" isn't she?

I think she was the other woman too - didn't he leave his wife for her? Are they still together?

Tinker · 13/03/2009 18:18

Yes, think she was the Other Woman (not completely sure if this is true but am enjoying typing it)

Flier · 13/03/2009 18:19

yes, they're still together

Real Gone Kid was about Maria McKee. That I do remember because You Little Thief by Fergal Sharkey was also about her.

shonaspurtle · 13/03/2009 18:28

Does anyone remember the River Detectives? I associate them with DB & the rest of Squeaver's list for some reason.

I have hankering for spending the rest of the evening on youtube doing a bit of wallowing in the late 80s/early 90s recordings of mildly successful Scottish bands.

Tinker · 13/03/2009 18:30

Yes, I do. Weren't they from Liverpool? Oh no, I've got them mixed up with River City People haven't I? Who weren't very good.
