... from the melody/hook alone? Didn't catch the lyrics. Are there any websites for this?

Ta.

No. Sigh.

But isn't this thread fun!

Is it that cover of an old soul/motown song that was in the charts recently (racks brains to remember name)

policywonk · 22/10/2008 14:23

That's almost as rubbish as my info, TDWP

Is it this?

If not, there re a few others I'm thinking of, but must get my lazy bum away from mumsnet and prepare for a dinner party tonight (eek)

harpomarx · 22/10/2008 17:50

hmmph! that was me policywonk! Nina Simone... I remember it now

policywonk · 22/10/2008 17:53

Oops - sorry! I've been looking on OMDB benignly for the last couple of months - entirely erroneously! I'll have to be slightly unpleasant to her now to make up for it.

Go back to Gap and ASK them!

harpomarx · 22/10/2008 18:24

yes, you make sure you do that! all that misplaced gratitude....

policywonk · 22/10/2008 18:44

I will Flight - but can't get to that branch for a couple of weeks, so in the meantime I'm annoying you all with impossible questions.

OP posts:
Flightattendant2 · 22/10/2008 19:31

If you tell me where I will ring them and annoy them tomorrow. I love doing stuff like that

policywonk · 22/10/2008 19:38

Really??

It's Gap at Kew Retail Park in west London/Middlesex. It was a compilation CD (the track after the one I liked was something indie-ish - guitars anyway).

I hate doing things like that!

Flightattendant2 · 22/10/2008 19:40

Yes really! If I remember. Ds starts new school tomorrow, plumbers are coming, and I have to wash my hair

policywonk · 22/10/2008 19:46

Ah, now with the excuses...

Don't worry if you don't get around to it. Although you would be putting an awful lot of people out of their misery.

OP posts:
policywonk · 22/10/2008 19:46

Oh, good luck to your DS on his first day

OP posts:
Flightattendant2 · 22/10/2008 20:14

Thanks!!

policywonk · 23/10/2008 12:45

Just listened to your link TDWP - not that one, but thanks!

(If you fancy participating further in this farce, the song I'm after is in a major key - if that helps at all .)

Was it a modern recording, just in a Motown stylee? Someone like David Jordan perhaps? He's quite Smokey-ish.

Flightattendant2 · 23/10/2008 12:59

Ok.

They thought it was hilarious and told me it sounded like this

But I am not convinced

They said ring head office and ask what's on the tape...will report back!!

I used to work at Gap. Every store gets sent a new CD each month of music - same CD to every store. We also got a printed list of songs and artists.

Why don't you call a store on the phone? Chances are the person who answers the phone will know it. I found that by about the 3rd of the month I would have the bloody CD memorised!!

Flightattendant2 · 23/10/2008 13:04

Ps they asked me to sing it, and I couldn't as I don't understand your notation

so ring them and sing down the phone if it isn't that one!! 0208 876 8684

harleyd · 23/10/2008 13:35

oh hurry up and ring..i wanna know what it is

harleyd · 23/10/2008 13:35

Flightattendant2 · 23/10/2008 13:37

I've tried head office twice and nobody answering...I think PW needs to ring kew and sing to them. They were most eager to help! I said she was my friend. So she needs to say she is mine
