I really can't decide, there are a few possibilities. Yours?

OP posts:
P00hsticks · 15/08/2025 23:47

Guns'n'Roses at the Marquee in 1987
Also in 1977 I was a member of the Queen Fan Club and we were invited along to be the audience for the filming of the We Are The Champions video, after which they did a special concert as a thank you. (Me and my mates skived off school to go and then much to our embarrassment were clearly visible in close up when the video was shown on Top Of The Pops the following week!)
And David Bowie at MK Bowl

Many years ago, Neil Diamond in Las Vegas.
Recently, Mike & the Mechanics. Used to love Genesis back in the day and they take me right back to those years.

Work in music so lots, Radiohead are my all time favourite band though so I’d go for them at Manchester Apollo in 1995, London Roundhouse in 2015 and everything in between…

Best surprise gig though was a band called Cage the Elephant, I think the venue was in Camden around 2010. They took the roof off…

MrsMoastyToasty · 15/08/2025 23:55

Two totally different genres.

The Monkees at Cardiff International arena
The Three Tenors open air concert in The Royal Crescent, Bath.

OhDorWheresthesalad · 15/08/2025 23:59

The Cure, Crystal Palace Bowl 1991
GNR, Wembley 1991?
Fatboy Slim, Drumsheds, ,2024

TanteRose · 16/08/2025 01:05

favourite ever has to be Kate Bush, Before the Dawn tour in 2014. Nothing will ever top that experience.

but on the other extreme, I saw Little Simz at a festival last month and she was absolutely phenomenal! Fave live gig this year by a country mile Star

looking forward to Alicia Keys next week - I’ve heard she is also brilliant live Glitterball

Madness 81 capital Aberdeen
Bad manners 81 Aberdeen
The jam Ingilston 82
Edwin Starr Tiffany's Wigan Northern soul niter.84

Crushed23 · 16/08/2025 03:04

I go to raves rather than gigs. Standout experiences have been:

-John Summit at Tomorrowland, 2025
-Four Tet in Finsbury Park, London, 2024
-Calvin Harris at Ushuaia, Ibiza, 2019
-Dom Dolla in Las Vegas, 2025
-Sammy Virji in NYC, 2025

Edit to add dates.

Theresealindseyillbetyou · 16/08/2025 03:11

I was all about the Northern soul niters across UK 82 to 96 then aspects of that lifestyle caught up.

idratherbedrawing · 16/08/2025 14:56

Also Leonard cohen for me - at the O2 of all places which I don’t really like as a venue, November 2008, just after Obama was elected president which felt very apt for Democracy. Mmm rather sad to look back at that now

CMOTDibbler · 16/08/2025 15:16

The Freddy Mercury Tribute concert and Back to the Beginning - both had awesome acts, but the love for Freddy and Ozzy was tangible at both throughout and made it into more than a concert.
The Dogs D'Amour, some sweaty little club in Sheffield, 1988, a few weeks after my 16th birthday and my first gig. And where I felt part of a scene for the first time ever and not some weirdo (nb, I grew up in a small town, and in 1988 you couldn't even buy black eye shadow easily, I had to order from an advert in the back of Kerrang and people made comments to my mum about me wearing black all the time)
DH has gone for Faith No More at Brixton Academy, 1990. You can see his boots as he's crowd surfing in the video of it

mamagogo1 · 16/08/2025 15:24

pulp, Birmingham this year - right down the front! Shout out to Sky for their lounges which meant we got it at the front of the queue!

I saw Leonard Coen in 2023, he was amazing. I'm so grateful I got to see him.

mine is also Leonard cohen (in 2008) but he died in 2016, do you mean 2013? Think that was his last tour

TonTonMacoute · 16/08/2025 15:57

Early 1980s, Loughborough University students Union, The Undertones farewell tour. Also Elvis Costello, same place, similar time.

It was mainly to do with the size of the venue which made gigs so much more intimate

MondeoFan · 16/08/2025 16:02

@whoboono I saw them on Thursday night in Colchester but maybe they played Scarborough the next day?

Notfairisit · 16/08/2025 16:06

The Clash at Brixton Academy in 84.

also Gary Glitter but obviously one to put in the past

Haha slip of the fingers, yes saw him at the 02 in 2013. Still very charismatic.

MiloMinderbinder925 · 16/08/2025 17:36

How could I forget. The Fall, 1987, Essex University.

daddysgirlnot · 16/08/2025 17:38

Pink is awesome in concert. Really enjoyed The Specials at St George’s Market in Belfast. Stereophonics are great live too.

Very, very jealous you got to see The Clash. Joe Strummer is one of favourite front men.

HowardTJMoon · 16/08/2025 17:57

@OhDorWheresthesalad hah, I was going to say The Cure at Crystal Palace Bowl too! Having Lush, James and All About Eve on the bill as well just added to it.

Tori Amos at the Royal Albert Hall in the mid 90s was spell-binding.

I've also seen Spem in Alium performed at St Albans cathedral which was an incredible experience.

We spend most of our ‘spare’ money on gigs, musicals and theatre so we’ve seen a hell of a lot of amazing and epic performances. I’d have to say though, seeing Jeff Lynne recently, in his home town return to Birmingham, was the best. Simply because (unfortunately due to his health) he has probably played his last ever live gig. If we could have got tickets for the Sunday, we would have gone to see Ozzie on the Saturday in Birmingham but as it was we saw ELO on the Saturday of that epic Brummie weekender. RIP Ozzie and Get Well Jeff ❤️

Edited

I was about to come on and say Jeff Lynne at Birmingham on the Saturday night of the Over and Out tour! Took me back to my teens - loved every second of it!!

CrushingOnRubies · 16/08/2025 19:06
