Hello Swifties! Thought I would start a thread to chat about TS11 or TTPD or whatever we're calling it 😁Don't know about you but the excitement is building for this old-enough-to-know-better Swiftie and I'll be taking the long way into work tomorrow so I can listen to it in Peace...(see what I did there?)

So this thread is for anyone who loves TS and wants to talk/think/muse/swoon over the newest output from the hardest-working woman in music!

Personally I'm intrigued and delighted that Aaron Dessner seems to have co-writing credits on several tracks - I'm a committed Folklore/Evermore fan and more in a similar vein will be very welcome!

(Oh, and while hopefully this doesn't need saying, please don't bother posting to say how shit/overrated/talentless you think TS is. This is a fan / appreciation thread about a specific piece of work and it would be lovely to keep it that way.)

@SummaLuvin yes true…. But she wasn’t rebounding off the back of a long term relationship with Jake. Something about Matt makes me not take him seriously. Although thinking about it, she did say ‘I love you’ to him on stage didn’t she! God, I had not considered the idea of this being a Matt Healy album! Madness.

@ChampagneNightmares 100% agree. The first time I heard Maroon I was like, oh, did she break up with Joe? Then I heard The Great War and was like, oh ok, they did break up and got back together. Of course it turns out they had broken up! So in my head Midnights has always been the Joe break up album, meaning that TTPD is a bit of a mystery to me.

(although based on the above I’m now convinced it’s about Matt Healy and I’m frankly shooketh)

OldHabitsDieScreaming · 18/04/2024 21:50

It's exciting to think that by this time tomorrow we'll all have a ton of new songs to (hopefully!) love. Roll on 5am!

@OldHabitsDieScreaming yesss. I’ve already ranked them in order of which ones I think will be my favourites based on titles alone. Yes, I have too much time on my hands 😂

Miloandfreddy · 18/04/2024 21:52

As a devoted fan of Folklore and Evermore I am crossing everything for more of the same!

Ooh what’s your order? Pure nosiness 😂

EndlessVortex · 18/04/2024 22:04

@Igotjelly please bare in mind this is based on literally nothing but pure delusional instinct and will undoubtably prove to be wrong 😂

Forcing myself to go to sleep so I can wake at 5.

TTPD · 18/04/2024 22:13

What are we thinking loml stands for?

Love of my life?
Loss of my life?
Loss of my love?
Last of my letters?
Maybe it changes throughout the song, which is why the title is just the initials? Like the subject of the song goes from the biggest love of her life to the biggest loss of her life or something.

SandHurtsMyFeelings · 18/04/2024 22:21

@TTPD

Love of my life.

It's about Meredith.

Also, My Boy Only Breaks His Favourite Toys is about Benjamin.

(I read a joke about how she should write some songs about her cats and it's been living rent free in my head ever since. And she did once refer to Meredith as the love of her life in an interview)

Yes, I like the Swiftologist on Tiktok. He's astute, sharp and whilst he's clearly an uber fan, he's not sycophantic. His critique of Joe (the heirloom turkey) does make me laugh too, I'm slightly ashamed to admit.

Heirloom turkey?

Imatorturedpoet · 18/04/2024 22:46

I'm hoping Amazon music will have it straight away!

Loungwear · 19/04/2024 00:38

OMG she did THIS didn’t she, when she was announcing TTPD!!
It HAS to be TWO albums, surely??

Checking in!

Lots of rumours that the album will not be about Joe but Matt from that group (of Matty perhaps)'

Not really interested in her private life but I adore her music!

😮😮😮 I didn't notice that! Omg .. maybe!!

ChampagnePlease · 19/04/2024 01:59

So would that mean the new album announces the best album?

Or could it be Rep (Taylor's Version)?

SandHurtsMyFeelings · 19/04/2024 05:26

I've just listened to Fortnight twice. Can't believe she's releasing this as a single. This is going to to get interesting!

WibblyCat · 19/04/2024 06:22

I have nothing of real value to contribute other than that I got up at 5 to listen and I just love it so much.

I Can Do It With a Broken Heart is incredible.

ChampagneNightmares · 19/04/2024 06:37

Arrrrggghhhh! I am three songs in and not disappointed! I think its a good mix of Folklore/Evermore and Midnights type style. What do we all think?

TTPD · 19/04/2024 06:44

I just finished it. My favourites always change after a few listens but so far my favourite ones are Guilty as sin, I can do it with a broken heart, My boy only breaks his favourite toys, Florida, and loml.

The alchemy is about Travis, right?

There are a few I think are about Matty Healy - definitely But daddy I love him, also The tortured poets department, and I can fix him. And also maybe Down bad?

I felt like this album got better the further through I got. I wasn't massively keen on the first two songs, Fortnight or The Tortured Poets Department. I'll probably have new favourites by the end of the day, but I don't think it's going to be one of my favourite albums of hers.

SandHurtsMyFeelings · 19/04/2024 06:52

Just finished a first listen.

Sonically I haven't found it that exciting.

But lyrically this is a lot. This feels very raw and confessional. And there are just so many words to process.

There's another countdown on Taylor's IG ending at 7am UK time so something else is happening!

TTPD · 19/04/2024 06:55

If Fresh out the slammer and The smallest man who ever lived are both about Joe, it really makes that relationship sound pretty miserable.

(obviously I know they’re just her side, and she has nicer songs about him too!)

GoodVibesHere · 19/04/2024 07:01

OK so my favourites at the moment are Fortnight, Who's Afraid of Little Old Me, I Can Do it with a Broken Heart and The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived.

SandHurtsMyFeelings · 19/04/2024 07:02

Oh fuck - it's a double album!

Igotjelly · 19/04/2024 07:02

Looks like the leaks were indeed real, nice to be listening legitimately though 🙌

It seems nothing explosive happened with Joe, just the slow death of a relationship that had run its course. I actually feel really sorry for him and the hate he’s got on the assumption of what might be on this album and isn’t.

Clearly the thing with Matty hit her hard for whatever reason.

Igotjelly · 19/04/2024 07:02
