Hello Swifties! Thought I would start a thread to chat about TS11 or TTPD or whatever we're calling it 😁Don't know about you but the excitement is building for this old-enough-to-know-better Swiftie and I'll be taking the long way into work tomorrow so I can listen to it in Peace...(see what I did there?)

So this thread is for anyone who loves TS and wants to talk/think/muse/swoon over the newest output from the hardest-working woman in music!

Personally I'm intrigued and delighted that Aaron Dessner seems to have co-writing credits on several tracks - I'm a committed Folklore/Evermore fan and more in a similar vein will be very welcome!

(Oh, and while hopefully this doesn't need saying, please don't bother posting to say how shit/overrated/talentless you think TS is. This is a fan / appreciation thread about a specific piece of work and it would be lovely to keep it that way.)

Like Taylor a lot but does every song have to be about men and relationships? It permeates through the majority of the songs again.

SecondHandFurniture · 19/04/2024 07:56

Double album! Wow. Good job I don't work Fridays.

OldHabitsDieScreaming · 19/04/2024 07:56

'My friends all smell of weed or little babies' - sums up my 30s perfectly!

In fairness, the vast majority of music is written about relationships. Modern or even classical, it mostly stems from love, lost love, unrequited love, bad love, passionate love etc. I think this is an unfair criticism.that only really ever gets levelled at Taylor.

I also agree that Charlie Puth should be a bigger artist😀

baubletits · 19/04/2024 08:08

Listening at the moment, so far nothing has jumped out as being amazing however admittedly I am an old school Swiftie who'll go to my grave with a glittery guitar screaming the lyrics to "Picture to Burn" 😂 I feel like I need some more upbeat songs to listen to, though I haven't listened to every song so there could still be hope!

There hasn't been an album that I've been completely obsessed with since Red, although each does have some songs that I really enjoy.

ridingfreely · 19/04/2024 08:08

Investing today in this - goood job I don't work Fridays

OldHabitsDieScreaming · 19/04/2024 08:08

'I'm always drunk on my own tears, isn't that what they all say?'

How ironic 😂

@User135644 The thing is though love and relationships bonds us all and has for forever no matter how rich or poor we can all relate to the emotions, it's not as if the rest of Taylor life is relatable to the rest of us really and she's not the only one that does it most songs are about relationships in one way or another.

Singleandproud · 19/04/2024 08:12

@ridingfreely yep me too, I'm WFH but have no meetings or expected calls so will have it on in the background.

VelvetBow · 19/04/2024 08:12

But Daddy I Love him is such a swipe to the fans who have a weird parasocial relationship with her. I love it.

pantsalot · 19/04/2024 08:13

I love her she's a lyrical genius I'll forgive her for 'tattooed golden retriever'

pantsalot · 19/04/2024 08:14

Also, thanK you aIMee! KIM! In caps

ridingfreely · 19/04/2024 08:14

@Singleandproud enjoy

I love so high school

sillysausage92 · 19/04/2024 08:15

Does anyone else know why on Spotify when I'm trying to listen to the new albums Spotify seems to play songs from previous albums? I've specifically selected TTPD but it's got cardigan and don't blame me in the list?!

Doesn't that apply to the majority of all songs?

Taylor actually has quite a few of songs not about relationships, or not about romantic relationships - Majorie, Soon you'll get better, The best day are about her family for example. There are plenty I could name about other things. And I would hazard a guess that if you looked at the current top 50, the vast vast majority of songs in there would be about romantic/sexual relationships.

SandHurtsMyFeelings · 19/04/2024 08:29

I love how the last verse of Hits Different ends with "Or have they come to take me away?" (with no answer) and Fortnight begins with "I was supposed to be sent away"

I think many of these songs are actually about being famous. Her fans, the pressure on her relationships, the fears of growing older while younger artists are coming up. She's reflecting on her unique situation as practically the most famous person on the planet, and looking at her relationships in that light. It's fascinating.

But even if it was all about men and relationships - don't most of our lives revolve around our relationships, partners, family, love? That's what most music is about. Bit of a weird criticism to throw at Taylor.

I don’t have any kind of parasocial relationship with Taylor Swift. She’s not my friend; she owes me nothing. But I don’t owe her anything either. She can date who she wants, but I can have an opinion of that if the guy is misogynist racist and what that says about her.

toastofthetown · 19/04/2024 08:55

Just finished the standard edition. It’s mixed, there are some songs I really like, but my general view is that it’s fine, but I’m not loving it. The album that I really want to listen to now is Ceremonials by Florence, rather than the anthology tracks!

I also can’t believe she’s done a surprise release of more content again as a surprise. The people who’ve preordered are probably her most loyal fans, and twice in a row they’ve been told that what they paid for isn’t actually the full version and they had no way of knowing that ahead of time. I was considering preordering this one, but glad I didn’t now.

CandiedPrincess · 19/04/2024 08:58

Not listened yet, will do while I'm working today.

The albums tend to grow on me over time, I rarely listen first time and think WOW I love it. I was the same with Rep, Lover, Folklore, Evermore and Midnights. The last one that I really liked from the off was 1989 BUT I do now adore all the others, it just took a few listens.

mlc0 · 19/04/2024 08:58

Down bad is such a bop

SecondHandFurniture · 19/04/2024 09:05

Hmm. I'm getting "Maroon" from the tracks I've listened to so far. No bad thing.

My favourites are Red, 1989, Folklore and Evermore. I never got on with Rep or Lover.

Voltefarce · 19/04/2024 09:07

I’m loving it, but feels quite comfortable and not ground breaking
