For this survey we are looking for folks in the UK who have a child aged 17-24. If you have a child of this age, please complete this survey.

Oh am I the only one doing it?
Hmm what do I need?

OnePlanOnHouzz · 26/07/2017 18:48

Ha - unfortunately mine are 16 and 26 !!

Millipedewithherfeetup · 26/07/2017 18:58

Fingers crossed I don't get bombarded with insurance offers !

Whatawaytomakealiving · 26/07/2017 19:09

Let's hope John Lewis do car insurance😉 Could go some way to the massive insurance costs...apprentice wage, insurance costs more than the car is worth and nearly as much as he earns in a year. Bless.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 26/07/2017 20:08

very nice to have a survey aimed at our dc age :)

DelphiniumBlue · 26/07/2017 20:12

Hopeful

differenteverytime · 26/07/2017 23:40

They want me to monitor where my daughter goes when she's driving?

Loopyjoes · 27/07/2017 12:30

Done.

Articu · 27/07/2017 12:31

Hi, I did the survey. Can you confirm that our details won't be used for any other purpose other than if we happened to win the JL gift.

Just used for the prize draw and then deleted.

I can't answer any of the questions because Ds1 has a motorbike and is away at Uni. I only worry if I know where he is going 99.9% of the time I don't have a clue.

Articu · 28/07/2017 00:11

AnnMumsnet. That's good to hear. Thank you.

LaLaLamp · 28/07/2017 01:27

Interesting survey...didn't realise you could track your children's driving habits!

Icequeen01 · 28/07/2017 08:50

Done. As someone said up thread, it's nice to have a survey for the older kids. My DS is 17 and now has his own little car. It's terrifying and liberating at the same time!

SillyMoomin · 28/07/2017 10:26

thank you- completed the survey but it didnt go to the usual "thank you for completing the survey" screen- please can MNHQ confirm if my survey has been received? Many thanks

jellyshoeswithdiamonds · 28/07/2017 11:01

sillymoomin did the same to me

All done but didn't confirm which is strange.
Good to know won't be bombarded with insurance quotes.

Good timing actually, Dh in the middle of organising insurance for the kid's car.

IfYouGoDownToTheWoodsToday · 28/07/2017 13:33

Done.

Yes it is nice to have something aimed at us with older DC.

differenteverytime · 28/07/2017 14:11

My dd and her friends are horrified by the idea that their parents could track them when they're driving. They're adults.

FannyFanakapan · 28/07/2017 14:52

i like the idea of a comparison site for your drivers....might make the market more competitive. Insurance cover for youngsters is ridiculous.

FannyFanakapan · 28/07/2017 14:52

^^ young drivers not your drivers...

Articu · 28/07/2017 16:13

Hehe I wonder if they are just as horrified if their parents pay for their lessons and for their cars and their insurance . Grin. Fair play to them if they pay for everything themselves.

Ps I wouldn't dream of tracking my own DC although maybe it might be understandable for a 17 year old?

differenteverytime · 28/07/2017 17:02

Maybe for a 17 year old, but tbh for adults I'd feel creepy tracking them, no matter who's paying. The way I see it, I got my dd1 her lessons and insurance as a birthday present, not in return for her privacy. I don't know what she/we would think if it was the only way we could afford for her to drive, mind you.

exexpat · 29/07/2017 15:05

Survey seems to assume that all 17-24-year-olds will be driving or learning to drive. I'm sure my nearly 19-year-old DS is not the only one who has no interest in driving.

Solo · 29/07/2017 15:23

I'd love to track my Ds when he's finally on the road but, he doesn't live at home and apart from asking me to pay to get him on the road I will have no grip on what, where or how he drives...won't be paying for him either!

Mum2jenny · 29/07/2017 18:38

My dcs, one of whom falls into the age group, drive many more miles per annum than I do. Why would I worry about where they are or want to monitor them? As for the black box tracking type insurance, it was no use for either of mine as they needed to be able to drive 24/7 without a penalty.
