The UK General Election will be taking place on May 7 2015. We'd like to gather the views of MNers on a variety of topics. Our survey is open to all UK MNers as well as those who are based overseas but able to vote in the UK.

Please find out more background and complete the survey by clicking here.

Add your details at the end and you'll be entered into a prize draw where one MNer will win a £100 voucher for the store of their choice.

Thanks and good luck!

Done. Wonder if I'll ever win one of the prize draws?

CallMeAntigone · 11/02/2015 14:45

Done - made me realise how much I need to look into before May !

SweetValentine · 11/02/2015 16:24

Was nice to review some of the issues. I didn't even know about the local council "ringfencing" issue Blush Fuckers.

BuzzardBird · 11/02/2015 17:07

Done

ouryve · 11/02/2015 17:15

Cor! That was a long one!

DurhamDurham · 11/02/2015 18:25

Well that was interesting, it appears that I am more interested in politics than I previously thought Smile

AnnMumsnet · 11/02/2015 19:07

Smile sorry it's long but glad it's of interest!

Done.

SallySolomon · 11/02/2015 23:55

Done fingers and everything else crossed! Smile

Fanjango · 12/02/2015 00:19

Done! It's nice to see MN getting into the political debates, the more people talk about politics the more will feel the need to vote!

MrsLJ2014 · 12/02/2015 00:23

Done! Made me realise some of the things I need to think about before voting in May.

addictedtosugar · 12/02/2015 09:31

Done.
Two comments where I said other:

Child Maintance: I can see why this system should be self funding, but asking for an application fee up front will prevent those most in need applying. The numbers seem massive - 20% to collect some money is daylight robery. So while I think a SMALL amount could come off, it needs to be MUCH lower than 20% and 4% - thats nearly a quarter of the money, if I've read it properly.

School Uniform: Should all be able to have non branded, so supermarket substitutes can be used. So, plain blue jumper acceptable, rather than having to have the school badge and a green trim on, adding to the cost.

engeika · 12/02/2015 14:49

Done. Not expecting to win any money though.

comment - "All agree that we need to build more houses" - Whilst the major parties agree not everyone does. Actually population increase is a bigger problem overall - although not popular on MN. Interesting charity which raises some good points. www.populationmatters.org/

The real problem with party politics is that whilst I agree with some things that all of them might say I have to vote for the local man/woman who will do the best for our region and who is most likely to get in. So telling you who I might vote for puts me in a box that I don't feel I am really in.

I'd actually like the option to ban school uniforms entirely. Such a waste of money and serve no purpose. My kids' high school had three entire new uniforms over a period of about 5 years. When I went to primary school in the 60s, no-one had uniforms. And at high school when they did, the ricj kids still looked rich and the poor kids still looked poor.

It was a tory parent-pleaser thing of the 1980s, the idea that somehow primary schools would 'improve' if uniforms were compulsory. Utter waste of time and money.

AlpacaLypse · 12/02/2015 15:28

Why wasn't there a box for 'no school uniform at all'?

RowanMumsnet · 12/02/2015 15:30

Thanks v much for completing it (and sorry that we couldn't fit in all the permutations) - do please keep the feedback coming

BackforGood · 12/02/2015 16:05

That was interesting (and not as long as I was worried it might be, from some of the comments Wink)

Madeleine10 · 12/02/2015 16:31

Agree, interesting survey - best political one I've done in ages!

Chippychop · 12/02/2015 17:00

Done. My main worry is the general population increase overall but I couldn't express this

Guyropes · 12/02/2015 17:02

who will you be sharing this information with?

has a political party paid for this survey? if so, which one?

Done! I'm feeling much more politically involved this election and I'm not sure why ... maybe because I'm not too exhausted to think this time?

Good survey anyway. I wish the main parties would do more canvasing of the electorate. They could easily do this via their websites.

TheScottishPlay · 12/02/2015 18:34

Completed. This is such an interesting period in politics.

stewaris · 12/02/2015 18:57

Done and totally opposed to the need to pay £5 in local school for a locker for coats etc. My DD goes to school in the depths of winter with just a jacket. This is because we give her an allowance to manage school dinners, clothes etc and she refuses to pay the £5 and she is not allowed to wear a coat and take it from class to class. WTF!
