Farmhouse Breakfast Week is an annual campaign that in 2011 runs from 23 - 29 January. This year's theme is "Shake Up Your Wake Up" and organisers HGCA are challenging everyone to rethink their morning routine.

In advance of the week in January they have asked us to find out all about your mornings - is it a struggle? Do you find time for breakfast? What would help you have more time for yourself?

Please take a few minutes to complete the survey - everyone who does and who adds their details at the end will be entered into a prize draw where one lucky winner will receive a £250 Love to Shop voucher (accepted in 20,000 UK stores).

This survey is open to all Mumsnetters with at least one child in the UK.

Thanks and good luck,
MNHQ.

Did it - although it is a bit of a badly worded survey in some respects. What if you eat breakfast everyday but don't care whether it is healthy or necessary - you're just hungry!?

Indith · 07/12/2010 18:29

Done. Def aimed more towards a working family though rather than a SAHM. My routine varies between quiet mornings where I can stumble around in a daze and have a long shower while dcs watch beebies followed by some toast and manic mornings where I run around like a mad thing throwing clothes on everyone and drag them to the bus stop just on time. Then breakfast is something yummy grabbed from teh Tesco near the bus station when we get to town.

The concept of doing chores in the morning is a weird one. I'm not awake enough to contemplate chores like ironing, cleaning, washing clothes, cooking, washing up etc in the morning! Hmm

itigress early morning is the only time I have the motivation to do chores!

Done. Mae me realise how chaotic mornings are in this house. Do people really have time to do housework before leaving the house? I do well to shove a wash on.

I laughed at the 'just coffee/tea' option. That's what I normally have, but I don't delude myself that that actually counts as breakfast Grin

Needed an option for 'eating before 10am makes me feel sick' too. I do love breakfast, just at a more civilised time...

notcitrus · 07/12/2010 22:36

Didn't seem to be an option for 'have breakfast at work' - which is what I do when ds wakes early and there's no way I can have mine and get him ready for nursery where he has his...

AnnMumsnet · 07/12/2010 22:48

notcitrus - we did have "Having breakfast is important to me but I do not have time early on, though I usually grab something during the morning" as an option.

PMSL at Q8

"If you were pushed for time in the morning - and assuming you didn't have to deal with anyone else in the household - which of the following things, if any, would you prioritise over eating breakfast?"

One of the answers was having sex....by myself I presume as I'm not dealing with anyone else in the house Grin

Maybe with the milkman or postman then Lacksdaisies?!!!! Grin

There was no option for "hungry"! Xmas Confused

I don't particularly think breakfast is vital etc etc, but when I wake up I'm STARVing, and when I'm hungry I eat. And that's why I have breakfast every single day.

bosch · 08/12/2010 23:52

Interested by grannies question, having done the survey, but also not knowing who HGCA are, I did a google search.

They are like a private sector quango! They are funded by and represent cereal growers, dealers and processors.

So willour answers show that we all know that we ought to be eating a healthy (cereal based?) breakfast every morning, but many of us don't because we don't have time...
