Hi all

We're looking for 100 mumsnetters to test Itax, a new non-chemical programme of head lice lotion spray (2 treatments per bottle RRP £11.99) and soothing 'anti-itching' shampoo (150ml RRP £9.99).

It's a tricky one because obviously it's hard to know when or if the dreaded lice are going to strike, but if you have a recurrent problem (or a school with a recurrent problem) or have lice you're struggling to shift and would like to put this new product through its paces please give us your details here . We're trying to get the feedback before mid Dec... to give you a time frame to gauge whether you'll get nits before then

Once you've tried out your sample we'll be inviting you to feedback your thoughts about the product and share your nit nightmares. Everyone who offers feedback will be entered into a prize draw to win Avène Sensitive skincare products for adults and Klorane hair products for children worth over £50.

If you've already tried Itax, please feel free to add your feedback now.

Oh and by the way, we have to tell you that Itax lotion spray and soothing shampoo are available in UniChem and pharmacies nationwide.

It's Ok. You can stop scratching now

nothing dirty about it. washing hair, conditioning and combing every night doesnt make us dirty.

just desperate.

bonkerz · 14/10/2008 13:53

my DD started playschool in sept and has already come home with nits twice!!!!!!!!!!!!
DS has hardly any hair and has had them once!
DSD comes every weekend and has nits 90% of the time!

ADragonIs4LifeNotJustHalloween · 14/10/2008 13:58

I was joking.

misdee · 14/10/2008 14:00

[ponders how short she can cut dd's hair without them looking too boyish]

leander · 14/10/2008 14:41

Done my dc have not had them (yet) but dd came home with a letter yesterday saying there was an infestation in her class so expecting a visit soon.

MamaG · 14/10/2008 15:17

misdee - been there, done that, got the T shirt.

My DD gets them EVERY time they go around, and they go around a lot.

Its so farking annoying. I always worry that people will think my DD is That Child, you know, the one who's paretns never get rid. Its just that she gets them so often and I comb comb comb to get rid and DO, she always goes back to school after the hols with clear hair then within a week I find one of the fuckers.

its SO annoying. THink some kids are more prone than oth ers.

belcantwait · 14/10/2008 16:33

have filled in form. really really hope i get picked as mine have them CONSTANTLY! arrrggghhh

am all itchy now

belcantwait · 14/10/2008 16:35

to add, i do comb etc but can never gett hem clear- both ds's have asd and sensory issues so this really doesnt help and ds2's hair is LOOOONNG

heronsfly · 14/10/2008 18:06

I agree with Mama,I worry that people will think my dds are the main culprits.
I spend hours getting rid of of the beasties, comb with nitty gritty EVERY night, and yet school holidays are the only time we seem to be really free of them.

Eve · 14/10/2008 18:44

same as purple ,ds best friend has a mother who doesn't treat them.

BlackEyedDog · 14/10/2008 18:57

I've filled it in.

We got nits! Keeps going round and round ds's class. I mean eww...

quite like picking about with the comb thing though.

llynnnn · 14/10/2008 21:19

although dd is only 2 she keeps getting the nasty little blighters from nursery!! her hair is very thick and curly and a lovely warm home for the horrid little creatures!!! think i'm going to be plagued by them for many many years

HRHSaintMamazon · 14/10/2008 21:24

my Dd's head is a nits fun fair it woudl seem.

ds will come home with one and it just seems to become a colony as soon as he sits in teh same room as DD.

i am so tempted to just shave her head its untrue.

misdee · 18/10/2008 09:12

3 kids.

all girls with short/medium length hair.

UnfortunatelyMurderedMe · 18/10/2008 09:19

eek. well lets hope you get all the buggers out on the first comb abd they dont catch any more through the week.

misdee · 18/10/2008 09:20

but they will.

have emailed mumsney hq to let them know as well.

Flamesparrow · 18/10/2008 09:20

Arse. Missed this

TheCheeseAlarm · 18/10/2008 09:21

I got mine too!

misdee · 18/10/2008 09:44

right, have looked it up on the interent. the main bottle of spray only contains 2 treatments. so the initial application and then the follow up one a week later.

I'm sorry mumsnet, i appriciate being choosen for this trial, and was hoping to find a good treatment, but i cant afford to buy another two bottles at RRP of £10.99 ish each to complete the trial just on my girls, and not on myself.

This is what puts me off the actual headlice treatments is the high costs. to sufficially treat my family of 5 (cos once one gets them, we all seem to get them) this would cost us over £50. compared to a £10 nitty gritty comb which i can use day in, day out, with conditioner, the initial costs may be high for one comb, but it pays for itself in the long run.

I'm going to have to bow out now.

will report back on the basis of one treatment.
