This is the feedback thread for the MN users who tested Deliveroo service of delivering food from local restaurants for their family feast.

The app was very easy to use.

• What did you like or dislike about the service?
  

It was easy and convenient. The food arrived very quickly and was very hot still. There were two things I did not like: firstly, the delivery charge. Regular takeaways do not have this. Secondly, the only reason we had Nandos was because the selection of resteraunts was really poor. And given I live fairly centrally in London, this was disappointing.

• Would you change anything about the service and would you recommend it to a friend?
  

I would recommend it to a friend if they wanted fast food. If you want access to many of the wonderful places available in London with really good food (which is what I had hoped we would have access to) it is not the service for you.

The website was easy to navigate.

• What did you like or dislike about the service? I liked the ease of the website and the fact I got a WhatsApp to say order was in the kitchen and then on its way. I disliked the fact I got an email to say £10 was being refunded but had no idea why! When the order arrived I realised that the cheesecakes were missing. Then I realised that the food was cold! The burgers were nice but they were cold and the chips being cold made them almost inedible and I had the delivery to work so I couldn’t heat them up! Very disappointing!
  

• Would you change anything about the service and would you recommend it to a friend? I personally think that unless you have the means to ensure that food can come from a long distance and still stay hot then there is no point. Other restaurants offer delivery but I get they do it within a certain distance otherwise you can’t guarantee hot food! Would I recommend? Yes but only if you are ordering close by and the service doesn’t already offer delivery.

We loved the range of options, and the app telling me that it was on the way. My 4 year old loved watching the map and answering the door! My daughter was very disappointed that her favourite pizza place was showing as not available at that time, and we hung on a bit but needed to order tea so couldn't wait.

• Would you change anything about the service and would you recommend it to a friend?

I would recommend it, nothing I would change although I would like to be reassured that the delivery drivers were getting a fair wage.

• What did you like or dislike about the service? I loved that we could see in real time the progress of our food being made and then we could watch the driver coming to us. I loved the mix and match option from the Deliveroo kitchen. I didn’t like how much the delivery charge was, high compared to other services.
  
• Would you change anything about the service and would you recommend it to a friend? I would make it possible to add tip after receipt of food, yes I would recommend

• We had Chinese, though it was very interesting to see the other places far away that would deliver to our house.
  
• It was quite easy to use the site to place our order - probably would have taken us mere minutes if we weren’t looking at all the options!
  
• The site offered estimated delivery times (although we couldn’t track with our particular restaurant) and checkout was smooth.
  
• I can’t think of anything I’d change, we would recommend it to others AND we are planning to order from that Chinese again!

Very straightforward

I liked the layout of the website and how easy it was to see the ratings for each restaurant. I liked being able to choose the time I wanted the food and be able to see the updates of our delivery. Our driver was really quick and called promptly when he couldn't find our house.

• Would you change anything about the service and would you recommend it to a friend?

Larger choice but would still recommend to a friend.

Chinese takeaway from local independent.
Extremely easy to use.
..I liked the way it kept a running total and that I could order at lunchtime for a precise delivery time that evening. It took less than 5 minutes to order. . I liked that my small local take away was available to order from on such an efficient website. I liked that delivery was free that day!
There was nothing I didn't like.
In terms of what I might change..
I am always concerned when tips can be added to the bill..an assurance that it will all go to that specific delivery person would be good and to be able to tip after delivery too.
I would absolutely recommend Deliveroo to a friend.

This is my second order placed on Deliveroo and I am very impressed. I always thought the food would be cold and poorly presented but it has been better than ordering direct from some places.
I ordered on the app. If was easy to use and we explored several different options before we made our choice.
We went for Papa Johns pizza to keep everyone happy and we got so much for our money. I couldn't get over the great value. I wasn't aware that they also give extra discounts from some places too, which was a bonus
It was easy and convenient and the food was delivered by a friendly driver within the time expected and piping hot.
I liked the ease of ordering on the app and the updates on the order once places. I would have liked the option to add another order from a different place on to one order instead of having to so it separately (I couldn't work out a way to do it anyway)
I would definitely recommend it to friends and apart from the ability to combine all orders into one transaction, nothing I would change

I liked the wide range of restaurants to choose from, and the delivery charge seemed reasonable. The information on timings was good and it was great to be able to track the delivery person online. I chose to tip the delivery person at the door rather than with the order as I want to be sure who gets the tip. The food could have been hotter - needed to be eaten straightaway.
- Would you change anything about the service and would you recommend it to a friend? On the whole I was happy with the service, and would recommend it if asked.

Very - I’ve used the app before. If I’m honest it’s too easy!

• What did you like or dislike about the service?
  

Loved how easy the app is to use - with Apple Pay it’s just a few clicks and I like the saving of previous orders as we’re creatures of habit. Also appreciate the dozens of quality restaurants to choose from - we used to go to lots of these before we had our baby so it’s nice to get restaurant quality food to our doorstep instead.

• Would you change anything about the service and would you recommend it to a friend?
  

The food needed heating up in the microwave - fine for the mains of pad Thai and terayaki lamb but it dried out the chilli squid starter. Having said that I would definitely recommend it to friends.

Very easy.

• What did you like or dislike about the service?

Liked: I found the ordering system very easy. We were able to change parts of the order with ease and the app made any available discount from the provider really clear on the order. I liked the fact that I got regular updates on the order and the food arrived very hot and freshly cooked. The quoted delivery time was very accurate. I also liked the ability to add detailed delivery information as our house can be hard to find.
Disliked: at first I found it confusing that the availability of different providers kept changing. Whilst this makes the site very accessible and relevant if you want to order immediately (eg you know straight away which outlets are available to take orders), it made it seemingly difficult for us to plan, have a look at different options and think about where we might want to order from ahead of time.

• Would you change anything about the service and would you recommend it to a friend?

I would definitely recommend but would warn anyone unfamiliar with it that not all local providers will be available to take orders at the time they might want to order.

Extremely easy... simple navigation and ordering process

Liked options to pre order at some eateries
And gave me variety of eateries, and not just Indian and Chinese
liked that I could also track the driver.... it meant we had our plates out ready!

Very easy. I’m not at all techy but was able to navigate the site and order easily.

I liked the variety of restaurants to choose from. Many were not available on Just Eat - which is my usual delivery service. The meal was delivered exactly when stated which was great. Can’t think of any negatives.

Yes, on my experience, I would recommend Deliveroo to a friend.

I started with the app but it was hard to see all the options so switched to desktop.

We ordered Japanese/Pilipino fusion food from a restaurant we already knew. There were other tempting options I had not considered....did not order from several different venues as children wanted as seemed to be a different driver for each collection.

• How easy was it to use Deliveroo?

Very easy and straightforward

• What did you like or dislike about the service?

Was quick, I liked the clear communication about when food was being picked up and who was delivering. Liked the style of the website and language. Driver was charming and the food came when expected, hot and fantastically packaged (quite a challenge for 4 bowls of soupy Ramen) Children were disappointed not everything from the menu was available on Deliveroo , it seems to be restricted. I did not like the 'tip your driver' option was only available before delivery received. How are you rewarding good service at that point ? I gave cash tip but a 'hope you enjoyed your food - tip now' option after would be helpful and an assurance that the tip would be given to the driver with no deductions ( I don't trust the worker always receives this) I liked the 'no cutlery' as default option.

• What did you like or dislike about the service? I liked that it was quick and efficient and the communication throughout the process- ie after i made my order and telling me that the driver was at the restaurant, ect. I also liked that they are more eco friendly and you have to specifically ask for cutlery which alleviates waste.

It would be cool if there was a map showing exactly where the driver was in real time ( like when you order an uber ). I would recommend this to a friend for sure as i had a great experience and great food.

Extremely clear and easy; restaurants and categories of food are well presented; simple to place order.

Like: I liked the ease of using the website and the variety on offer.
Dislike: Unfortunately our burgers weren't that warm.

• Would you change anything about the service and would you recommend it to a friend?

It would be good if you could order from two different restaurants and have the food delivered by one driver. I prefer to tip when the driver delivers my order as am unsure whether the tip gets to the driver if a tip is added online.
I would recommend to a friend!

Very easy.

- What did you like or dislike about the service?

Likes: very quick and easy to order

Dislikes:
1) Inflated prices! Our order was 50% more expensive via Deliveroo than when ordering directly from the restaurant.

2) Limited choices. Many of our favourite places were not listed.

- Would you change anything about the service and would you recommend it to a friend?

It would be good if the prices were not so inflated. Not sure if the restaurant/s charge extra to cover their deliveroo fees or if deliveroo add on the extra costs to the menu.
Additionally, the extra costs are per item rather than a flat fee per order. Delivery charges are separate.

I would recommend to a friend, only if they were willing to pay a lot extra for the convenience of having it delivered 🙄

I forgot to mention that it's not possible to order from multiple restaurants on the same order.

Also, customer services are not helpful. I emailed with a query on Thursday 5th December and received an automated response that somebody would reply within 24 hours. It's been five days and I've still not received a response. I have checked spam and deleted folders too.

I loved the fact you just pick what you want and order approx 40 mins later the food turns up at your door.

I didn’t like the fact that my 1st order for a different restaurant was cancelled half hour after I placed the order.

I would recommend deliveroo to a friend.

I would add more choices. but it’s very easy to use and myself and my family would like to thank you for letting us try deliveroo out.

• How easy was it to use Deliveroo? Really easy, more than I had anticipated, everything was very clear.

• What did you like or dislike about the service? Liked the easy to navigate app and the order process, it was also really handy to track the delivery so we were waiting eagerly by the front door. Delivery time was also really quick which was ideal as we were all really hungry after work and school. The things we didn't like were the cost of the menu items, as there was a lack of meal deals or vouchers as there would be if we ate in at a pizza express it was more expensive than if we had eaten at the restaurant, we were also limited to which restaurant we could choose as not all had their childrens menu available for delivery. Also the food was Luke warm which was ok for pizza but would not have been as good if it was say burgers or curry.
• Would you change anything about the service and would you recommend it to a friend? only to ensure food is hot and offer same deals to customers available when eating in. I would recommend though as it is so easy and convenient.

• How easy was it to use Deliveroo?

It was very easy although there were problems when it came to payment. The page seemed to get stuck and not process correctly. I had to redo the payment info a couple of times. Eventually I just removed the item that took it over the £40 mark so I didn’t have to pay any more than the voucher. I’m unclear whether this was because of a card issue my end or a payment processing issue at the delivery end- perhaps it could have been more clear about this.

• What did you like or dislike about the service?

I liked how easy it was to find what we were looking for- just searched “sushi” and we had a choice of 4 restaurants that would deliver to us. The choice of different restaurants was good. I wasn’t so keen on the process of putting things in the basket- lots of clicks required and not the most responsive.

• Would you change anything about the service and would you recommend it to a friend?

I would perhaps work out the kinks above but I wouldn’t hesitate in recommending to a friend.
