Dip UTI has asked us to find Mumsnet users in London who currently suspect they have a UTI to try out their home testing kits and report back on Mumsnet. We’re also looking for a handful of users who would be willing to take part in a video interview about their experience following the testing period.

Here’s what Dip UTI has to say: “Dip UTI allows you to test for a UTI with your smartphone, receive clinical-grade results in minutes and access prescription-only medication at the pharmacy, without seeing a GP, if your results and symptoms indicate a UTI."

Please note we’re selecting testers who currently suspect they have a UTI and we’re aware that if signing up you’ll be looking for treatment ASAP, so we’ll be checking in on sign ups daily (Monday to Friday) so that a kit can be delivered to you quickly if you’re selected. We’ll be selecting up to 3 testers per day,

If you’re selected, you’ll be sent a Dip UTI home testing kit and a £15 Boots voucher, which you can use to purchase medication to treat your UTI should you need to.

If you’re interested in taking part, please sign up here.

Thanks and good luck!

Lmao what a random thread title

DurhamDurham · 05/09/2019 19:07

Well this is a niche product test, almost disappointed I don't meet the criteria being in the North and not having a UTI Grin

CandyLeBonBon · 05/09/2019 19:22

I'm always getting UTI's and have been in hospital twice with sepsis as a result. I was worried yesterday that I had one BUT I don't live in London ☹️

twosecs · 05/09/2019 19:52

Does this require one to pee on their smartphone? Asking for a friend... Grin

leasedaudi · 05/09/2019 20:30

😂

To be fair this would be been useful in pregnancy- I must have been on antibiotics at least half of my pregnancy. Such a pain getting to the docs so often

Akire · 05/09/2019 20:34

Not right now! But wish there was service that provided this.

kryztinababy · 05/09/2019 22:08

I'm not In London but what a bizarre thread/ feedback thing/ app

kryztinababy · 05/09/2019 22:10

It would take ages for the participants to get their kits and uti gets worse quickly - quicker to visit your gp if you feel you have a uti

ShirleyPhallus · 05/09/2019 23:04

Would also like to know if you have to wee on your phone....?

fergusthefrog · 05/09/2019 23:29

Such a good idea honestly UTIs drive me mad!

peppaporkysandwich · 05/09/2019 23:38

You can get uti testing at your local pharmacy or through the prescribing nurse or gp at your surgery. That's quicker than having to use a kit posted to you and an app to diagnose yourself.

peppaporkysandwich · 05/09/2019 23:39

Who wants to risk getting a bladder/ kidney/ nephritis infection from delaying to treat a uti?

AnnaMariaDreams · 06/09/2019 06:47

Dip tests are notoriously inaccurate though!
What if you have a UTI and the test is ok- are you supposed to suffer?

HeronLanyon · 06/09/2019 06:53

I did have a UTI around a month ago. This dip tech (and the associated app) were being heavily advertised on eg boots website. Most branches didn’t know what I was talking about when I requested it - a few said perhaps try a bigger store etc. Absolute shambles. Great idea. Awful rollout. Sadly too typical for women’s health provision.

peppaporkysandwich · 06/09/2019 14:04

I think in theory this is a good service but unless you can get a kit to somebody in need of it there and then and then Also medication within the hour, what's the point?

Metempsychosis · 06/09/2019 14:28

I’m hoping that because they’re specifying London they’ll be couriering packages to testers. I think for most people that would be a lot quicker and more convenient than a GP appointment.

I’m not currently suffering but I did have a serious UTI recently and this would have saved me a lot of faffing around with cystitis powders and worrying about whether it was worth taking a day off work to see my GP. In the end it took a turn for the worse - NHS 111 did a great job getting me an OOH GP appointment and a prescription but it was a two hour return journey on the bus. A relative got a prescription over the phone for antibiotics for a suspected UTI (without testing) which in fact turned out to be cancer so I’m all in favour of testing.

JustineBMumsnet · 06/09/2019 17:56

Hi all, thanks for your comments on this. We just wanted to confirm a couple of details. Usually, you would be able to purchase the Dip UTI kit in a Boots store and then test (and return to purchase treatment if necessary), meaning the process can often be quicker than waiting for a GP appointment. You can find the stores the service available at via this map. However, due to the logistics of running the product test specifically, the kit is being delivered to selected testers - we're running the test in London only so that kits can be couriered to those selected, ensuring they're able to test quickly.

Just a warning three weeks ago I used that map and went to one of the bolts where I was supposed to be able to get a kit. They, including staff at the medicine counter and the prescription counter had never heard of it. I showed them the boots website and map - no joy.
Just a warning for anyone already not feeling great having to hunt one down. Hope it’s become more organised !

JohnnyMcGrathSaysFuckOff · 06/09/2019 20:59

Am I the only one who read this as

Do you live in London and would you like a UTI

?

Marmelised · 07/09/2019 10:10

I used this as my branch of boots offered it when I was asking for an over the counter cystitis remedy. It’s fabulous. Quick, easy and saved me a trip to the doctor - even supposing I could have got an appointment quickly.
Only downside would be the cost. I didn’t care as I had the money and more than worth it to me for the time saved but it could be a serious barrier for people on low incomes.

ItsClemFandangoCanYouHearMe · 08/09/2019 13:15

Amazing 😂

ILoveMyCaravan · 10/09/2019 22:33

What a potentially dangerous 'kit'. The dipstick tests are notoriously inaccurate no matter how the results are analysed.

How ironic, I’m in London, this popped up on my thread, I think I have one, can’t get through to the GP..... but I’m only on the App and can’t see PMs

AcrobaticSunflower · 11/09/2019 15:47

Are you still seeking participants?
