Second post... I think I’m going to have to stop using the shampoo. It’s no good on mid length highlighter hair. My hair is dull, I have noticed it’s greasy on day 2 rather than my usual day 3 and most disappointingly I feel scabby and itchy still.

The cream seems ok so far. The fragrance reminds me of lotil cream - slightly almondy

Middleoftheroad · 25/04/2018 14:45

Third wash and unfortunately my black work jacket still looks like it has a large dusting of Candarel on the collar. Will persevere Smile

Therewere5inthebed · 25/04/2018 15:12

I’ve used the shampoo on my DD twice now and the flaking and itching has totally stopped, her long thick hair is beautifully soft and tangle free without using the masses of conditioner that it usually needs too.

I will certainly continue to purchase this for her once our bottle has run out.

Regarding the cream, i’m not entirely convinced, it seems to help with the dryness but not the itching which surprises me as I thought the two went hand in hand. Maybe the itching is nerve related (peri menopausal) and not dry skin related.

I don’t mind the smell of the cream at all, it’s more or less unscented so doesn’t clash with any other products you wish to use.

I’ve used the cream on some dry patches that my DD had on her arms and it cleared ithm up quickly (where usually only 8 Hour cream would touch it).

I’m pleased that i’ve had the chance to try these products.

Initial findings are good to very good.

Shampoo felt good, smelt a bit like our dog shampoo, but that's not a negative comment. Definitely relieved some itchiness on scalp area.

We also like the cream, again not horrible, but a definite smell to it even though unperfumed. Relieved dry itchy shins in a couple of uses. Skin looked much less dry and scaly too.

greenllicic · 25/04/2018 17:48

My husband is the one using it as he suffers with itchy skin and anything can irritate him. After using it a week he says that he has no itching and his hair feels lovely and soft. He hasn't tried the cream yet but will tonight as he has been itching at night on his arms.

Tinlegs · 25/04/2018 17:54

I love the shampoo. I have tried EVERYTHING and the only thing that worked (Oilatum Intensive) has been discontinued. I have that (stockpiled a few) the ordinary Oilatum, La Roche Posay, Eucerin.....Plus many failed bottles.

The Balneum actually makes my hair nice as well as just keeping away the itch and flakes.

I like the cream too - goes on well. I think I will keep buying that but I will definitely be sticking with the shampoo.

Thanks so much. Really. Great stuff.

bettyboo40 · 25/04/2018 19:46

The itching on my scalp has stopped since I started using the shampoo. The cream is nice- it absorbs well and doesn't leave me with a sticky feeling.

IKnowWhenThatHotlineBling · 25/04/2018 20:53

The shampoo is great for my scalp. Its hardly itchy at all and find it has calmed down a lot - i am really enjoying using this.

The cream is also great, it absorbs in the skin well and leaves me and my daughter feeling moisturised and less dry!

Nyancat · 25/04/2018 21:43

I like the shampoo, it has helped with the itchiness of my scalp, i like to really scrub my hair and it does leave it very tangled in the shower but this is fixed with a healthy dose of conditioner.
I've used the cream on kids and it seems to have helped with the itchiness. From personal preference I'm not a fan of the smell and its a bit to greasy for me, but DC haven't complained about this so maybe just me.

Luckyboy99 · 26/04/2018 09:18

I absolutely love both. I didn’t at all
Notice any smell with the lotion which I see there are a lot of comments about but then I have suffered since a child with eczema and some of the products of the years really have had bad smells especially the shampoos. The shampoo did not at all smell like a typical scalp treatment. Both the lotion and shampoo took a few applications to not a difference BUT after a few it did definitely make a difference. The skin problems on my legs have been less itchy but still require a mild steroid unfortunately. Overall I am very impressed and I would say as a sufferer this definitely helps eczema and helps the symptoms of psoriasis such as helping the itchiness .

bec4everuk1 · 26/04/2018 10:37

I have found the Balneum dry skin and itch relief Cream to have been a saviour especially with all the hot weather we we're having as my skin seems to be effected more when I am hot so I had been applying the cream in the mornings and evenings to help soothe my skin and I feel like it is very good to help with the itch relief otherwise I feel like I could itch my skin until it is red raw so the cream has definitely helped with that. I like the bottle it comes in and it is a thick cream so you only need to use a little so it would last longer.

The dry and itchy scalp shampoo I have found to be ok I haven't found a massive difference to my scalp as of yet nor has my partner we will both continue to use. x

michele1970 · 26/04/2018 11:52

Both myself and my eldest daughter suffer with dry scalps so have both been trying the shampoo. I liked the smell of the shampoo and you didn't need a huge amount to get a good lather, it left my hair feeling extremely soft and clean, however, I have not noticed any difference in the dryness of my scalp unfortunately. My daughter on the other hand has noticed a difference and it seems to have helped her scalp enourmously which she is absolutely delighted about!

As a family we all suffer with dry skin and my youngest daughter has eczema on her arms. The cream has a lovely rich texture and is easily absorbed into the skin, the pump dispenser works really well at dispensing the right amount of cream and is easy to operate. The results were amazing, my daughters eczema has almost completely cleared up and all of our dry hands are now rehydrated! My husbands hands crack badly in the winter but this cream has really helped them. It acts as a good barrier and the cream lasts well between washing hands. I would definitely recommend it to my family and friends.

supermariossister · 26/04/2018 13:35

Partner has been using the shampoo and seen a marked improvement in his head and the soreness he gets, his hair is softer and looks a lot healthier than other scalp treatment shampoos we have tried. He says it is nice to use but that it isnt ideal if you get it in your mouth! Haha I love that the smell isnt too fragrant as he was previously using vosene and i hated the smell!

The cream absorbs really well and seems to have soothed patches of problem skin for me but i dont like the smell of. partner is yet to use the cream as he is always covered in scratches from gardening!

Tinlegs · 26/04/2018 14:33

Oh, and I forgot to mention. I like the fact that the shampoo doesn't demand you rinse and repeat. I never do that and always assume it is a bid by the manufacturers to make you use more. This one doesn't.

Also, I am finding my hair is generally glossier and more manageable.

Thanks once again.

Myr4 · 26/04/2018 16:18

I love how the cream is easily absorbed which really speeds up application. In my opinion it has a slight medicinal fragrance.
I'm not happy that it can't be used on broken skin or on children under the age of three.
It has hydrated my three year old's skin really well. She doesn't have eczema, just itchy and dry skin. The itching has stopped.
It wasn't effective on my 5 year old. She suffers from patches of eczema in certain areas. I applied the cream straight after her bath and two hours later skin was dry again.

The shampoo- I'm not too sure about the effectiveness of this. I'll be able to give a better response after using it some more.

GinGeum · 26/04/2018 18:55

DP and I feel the shampoo smells quite medical so we haven’t loved using that, but the cream is working wonders. It soothes the itch almost immediately, but the relief lasts a long time which I have struggled to find with other products. It has also started to help with my severely dry patches, so far so good!

Kizzy2018 · 26/04/2018 19:46

I tried this cream on my children who both have very dry skin and eczema. My two year old daughter cried the first time I put it on her and developed a prickly heat type rash. It happened again when I tried it a second time though my four year old son used it happily for over a week. Unfortunately tonight he has a very bad eczema flare up and started screaming once I started applying the cream. I had to shower it off him. I don’t think the cream caused the rash on him today but I think it exacerbated the rash he already had. I won’t be using the cream anymore.

Danlsb · 26/04/2018 20:30

Have been using the cream and shampoo for about 10 days. So far so good - I don’t notice a scent ( which is better than the medicated smell from other products ). Cream is working well and the shampoo has kept my scalp from itching. Although my hair feels a bit dry and frizzed afterwards - this maybe due to using hair colouring. So far I would recommend it.

Goingovertosusanshouse · 26/04/2018 20:45

The shampoo has made a huge different to mine and dds dry scalp. The packing is a bit medicinal. I love that it has no fragrance. Getting through it at quite a rate. The cream is incredible for knees and elbows in particular. I feel super soft all over and not scaly at all.

TheGhostsOfPresidentsYetToCome · 27/04/2018 07:45

I’m not really getting on with the shampoo at all. It leaves my hair matted and dry no matter how carefulling I wash. I can’t get my fingers through to do a 2 minute wash as the instructions say. My hair is very fine but there’s lots of it. I’ve also noticed it stings the (admittedly very sensitive) skin on my face when I use it.

I like the cream. It’s very moisturising and soothing, especially on my legs, which tend to flare at night after a shower. All anti itch creams I’ve used have the slight urea smell behind them so I’m used to it and haven’t found it off-putting.

TheFairyCaravan · 27/04/2018 09:23

I really like the cream. I haven’t noticed any smell with it. My legs are really dry and itchy, usually, and I scratch myself red raw but the cream has stopped that. I’ve been using it twice a day, and I would recommend it.

I’m not sure about the shampoo. Every time I use it my head itches more and more. I give it a few days to settle, which it does. but as soon as I use it again the itching comes back. And I need to use half a bottle of conditioner after using it.

Smauksin · 27/04/2018 11:19

My daughter who has dandruff and an itchy scalp has been trying the shampoo regularly since we recieved our samples, sadly with no discernable difference.
Meanwhile I have been testing the body cream on my extremly dry skin. Whilst the cream has defintiely helped with dryness, I don't enjoy using it as it smells strongly of RUBBER. So although my arms and legs feel nicely hydrated and less itchy, I now smell like a bicycle inner tube.
Perhaps an added hypoallergenic frangrance might mask this?

Tumilnaughts · 27/04/2018 17:31

So far I like the lotion. It’s really thick and creamy but does tend to be greasy. It’s really good at reducing the itchiness on my legs but hasn’t been as good on my husband as me.
The shampoo has been reducing the dandruff but not reducing the itchiness on the scalp.
So all in all a mixed bag.

Callico · 27/04/2018 19:20

Not liking the moisturiser so far. Unfortunately it hasn’t eased the itching and find I’d need to apply it quite often. I also find it a little tacky for a while after applying.

The shampoo though has been great, definitely has minimised the itching, has a nice lather to it and washes out easily. I do have short hair though.

justaweeone · 27/04/2018 19:51

Cream is fab and is absorbed really quickly
Shampoo is ok according to my Dh but not any better than other brands
Continuing to test!
