Testers will be sent a pack of Sani Hands Antibacterial Hand Wipes, each handy sized pack contains 12 wipes.

Selected testers will be asked to try the wipes with their family (perhaps on a day out or holiday or even on a trip to the supermarket) and then asked to share their feedback on a thread on Mumsnet.

There was a piece in the news this morning (icw the noro outbreak at the athletics) where a doctor was explaining that handwashing with soap and water is far and away the best thing. You need to wash thoroughly and for at least 15 seconds.

So '...are proven to be the most effective and hygienic alternative to soap and water" will not be untrue, if the other alternatives (ordinary wipes and/or gel) have been demonstrated to be consistently less effective (in ordinary use, one hopes, not just lab conditions).

But getting to a sink and washing is always going to be the better option.

And I really the only poster who finds anti-bacterial anything abhorrent? A good wash in soap and water is fine for anything actually dirty, or risky, such as raw pork or poultry. And for anyone with a compromised immune system naturally.

Otherwise, though, If we focus on keeping the environment absolutely sterile, what chance do we, and our children, have of building up a healthy immune system? I know I am hopelessly old fashioned, but feel really strongly about this one. My mother (in the fifties, my sister was a lot older, honest...) discouraged by the health visitor from washing an apple dropped by the baby, on the grounds that in an essentially clean household, a few germs wouldn't do any harm, quite the reverse, in fact.

It makes intuitive sense to me, which I realise doesn't, in its self, make it right. Would love to know what others think considers whether a free givaway thread is the right place for this rant

I love a product test but I'm not applying for this one on the same grounds. The gel is unnecessary and now add in some probably hard to biodegrade wipes too!
