I don't have DC the right age, but just wanted to say that a friend told me about Sterimar last winter and I think it's brilliant stuff.

Natural sea water? In my baby's airway? For a fiver?

I think I'd prefer nice sterile saline spray by calpol for £2.

This really baffles me!

I've been using the adult spray for almost 2 years now and swear by it for helping with colds! Was recommended it for nasal congestion whilst pregnant and have used it on all the family since. In fact I only just went out and bought another bottle last weekend, it's lasted that long!

Maybe the amber necklace brigade will enjoy this...

I thought saline irrigation was pretty mainstream alleviation for the snot-ridden.

Sterimar's been around in mainland Europe for yonks, but if the Calpol people have started making it now and are undercutting them on price (sounds like same product, different guff) it might get tough for them.

I don't have DC in this age category but I have used similar post op.

I am concerned regarding the salt intake for a baby. Surely they are far too young to be snorting salt water? As parents you do everything you can to avoid salt in their diet (I remember the hours of boiling chicken bones to avoid salty stock cubes!). Surely even a small amount of salt, especially used daily, is too much?

Would love to. I think some of the Comments are a little unfair, salt water/saline is used in hospitals to clear secretions in endotracheal tubes...Isotonic saline is clinically useful..just because it has a natural source doesn't make it less so..

This is amazing stuff for baby, if you didn't tried it yet definitely apply! I bought it in my local pharmacy when I was desperate, my baby couldn't breath through nose, didn't sleep and couldn't eat abut this spray worked miracles and is best spray I ever tried for baby. It is pricey but it is worth every penny.

Sterimar worked wonders for my DS.

We also tried Calpol and it didn't come close to Sterimar.

Yes please - my twins have already needed saline drops for bunged up tiny noses.

I don't understand how people think it's that different from any other saline spray. Saline means salty after all. It's the best way of unblocking noses if you can't use other decongestants like vicks.
