This is the feedback thread for the 15 MNers who tested the Atomist Vapour Iron, but also NON TESTERS sharing their top tips on ironing.

Here’s what Morphy Richards says about the Atomist Vapour Iron: “For consumers who live in hard water areas, they can find that limescale continually affects and damages their products, and this is a concern that Morphy Richards heavily focused on when developing the Atomist Vapour Iron. As the iron doesn’t produce limescale, it directly eliminates the prospect of unsightly white marks appearing on clothes while ironing, meaning that clothes never have to be re-washed because of limescale marks. The iron is also ideal for those who are looking to use products that aren’t harmful to the environment, as the Redefine Atomist Iron uses less water and energy than a standard steam iron.”

Testers, please tell us what you thought about the iron. Here are some questions to get you started, but please feel free to add your own comments too. Please also add any photos you’ve taken to the feedback thread.

• How did the Atomist Vapour Iron compare to your usual iron?
• What did you think were the benefits of the Atomist Vapour Iron?
• Did it make ironing usual items of clothing easier? If yes, why? If no, why not?
• What did you think the benefits were of vapour over steam?
• Why did you want to take part in this test and what iron did you previously have?

Please now write a review about the Atomist Vapour Iron in the Mumsnet household appliances review section here here

Please also write a review in the Morphy Richards review section here

Testers who have given their feedback and written a review will be able to keep their irons as a thank you.

Non tester- I try and hang stuff up well so I don't need to iron much. When I do I use ironing water that seems to help.

The most important thing is to get the clothes out the washing machine as soon as possible after the wash has finished. Then the clothes don't get a chance to crumple as much. If you can, hang the washing on the line to dry... a lot of the creases drop out that way leaving less to get out whilst ironing. Therefore, easier to iron! :)

I usually play my favorite music when doing ironing. It makes time pass quickly!

My best tip for ironing is invest in good, sturdy and wide ironing board as together with good iron it will help ironing be a pleasure not a chore.
I am not tester but lucky owner of Morphy Richards Atmist iron. I really do love this iron and to be honest it wasn't love from first sight. I needed one more time to get used to it and stop comparing this iron with steam iron. Atomist is old traditional iron with modern and stylish twist.Iron which our mums and grandmums used to iron our clothes, cool water spray and hot iron made wonders with creased clothes. It looks like new and different when basicly it something old and truly forgotten.I love that this moder iron have water tank (600 ml!!!)Is light to hold, with lovely thermaglass soleplate.vapur spray and hot iron removes creases from clothes.Thing is performace is completaly different and it take time to addopt to different ironing style.I do think ironing is bit easier as I don't need to fillmy iron too often with water and is not hot. I hate ironing at hot summer days with this iron it will be not so hot. As there is no steam this iron is safer for little helpers who are older then 8 years. This is fantastic iron, definitely not everyones cup of tea,bit pricey too but so lovely to iron with and looks so cool!

I spray water using a pump atomiser on creases then apply a hot iron; the resulting steam helps iron out the crease quicker than a dry approach!

Anj123 · 13/04/2016 22:19

Non tester. I always watch TV when ironing so it doesn't feel like a chore. Make sure clothes are damp when ironing too!

Top Tip: Put water in the iron to generate steam. Sounds obvious, but DH had no idea...

slithytove · 13/04/2016 23:44

Non tester top tip

Get DH to do it while you MN

Iron cotton clothes very slightly damp - it makes all the difference - and then air before putting them away in wardrobe/drawers.

Another one who irons whilst clothes are damp. Takes less time and effort!

onedowneleventogo · 14/04/2016 17:09

Never bother to do it. Amazing.

Amaksy · 14/04/2016 21:03

NON TESTER - TRY TO IRON SHIRTS WHEN STILL DAMP AS YOU WON'T NEED TO KEEP SPRAYING WHEN IRONING

Noodlebugs1981 · 15/04/2016 10:05

Non tester! A box set, a glass of wine (or tea if it's during the day Wink) and an amazingly hot and steamy iron.

31weeksgone · 16/04/2016 00:52

Non tester- get DH to do it! Wink

TheBigRedBoat · 17/04/2016 10:25

Non tester - I love ironing! Keep everything damp and hang while it's still warm from the iron

KeepOnPlodding · 18/04/2016 10:32

My only tip for speedy ironing is to pay someone else to do it! Wink

I prefer to put all the clothes away in cupboards / drawers after drying. I then iron on a need-to-wear basis, or if I have a chunk of time I will iron a 'category' of clothing. For example, I'll grab all the trousers from a drawer and iron them in one go and put away again. It prevents the buildup of the ominous ironing pile, and everything is locatable. The house feels tidier not having a giant heap of clothes hanging around, and 'disorganised' weeks where there is no time to iron don't feel quite so chaotic.

My special system (Grin) also makes ironing less daunting by breaking it up, and tends to speed the process since you get into a stride of doing the same items all together as opposed to ironing a top, then trousers, then a pillowcase followed by a shirt etc.! Works for me!
