What aspects of the baby bundle app did I find useful?

I loved this app, so much features to do on it. I am currently weaning my baby girl this app was really good and helped me loads. Also the teething info helped me.

I think this app is fantastic for first time parents- the app has loads of info from nappy changing, bottle feeding, health of your baby, baby monitor. Great advice for any first time parents!

As I had my first child 16 years ago things were a lot different we didn't have app's etc. so having my second daughter 7 months ago a lot has changed so it helped me a lot as years ago, it was very different.

I loved the idea of the babies profile and the different features this app has. It's so easy to setup and use I would highly recommend it.

I would say this app was really great everything you need on one app.!

What aspects of the Mumsnet Baby Bundle app did you find most useful?
I really like the Check Up Planner - I find it really useful to know the purpose of each check up so I can think about anything that I want to discuss relating to the purpose of the visit, this is something which I have tried to find on the internet before and never really found a good breakdown of why each check up happens so I was really pleased to see such a detailed summary for each appointment.

The Green/Amber/Red sections in the health reference pages are great and really help to provide clarity quickly in potentially anxious situations, I think they will be well liked and used.

Would you recommend it to other parents? Why?
Yes I would, the health reference section is both clear enough to easily find what you're looking for quickly, potentially in a panicked situation, but it is also comprehensive enough that I wouldn't feel the need to immediately look at another website for more information, it seems to cover everything well.

What else would you like to see in the app?
As others have mentioned it would be great to be able to keep a milestone log with photos so that everything is in the same place.
I'd also like to see a simple diary section, so that a busy parent can make a quick entry to note down something that they'd like to remember in future - expanding on this with the option to see all diary entries, activity notes, milestones and photos and measurements in one place for each day/week/month and a type of 'turn back time' function to see what you noted this time last year would give the app another dimension and move from being solely in the health field to being the one-stop shop for all parenting wants and needs.

How easy or difficult was it to use?
Very easy - easy to navigate and felt natural to use.

Any other comments?
Thank you for the opportunity to test this, it's a great app.

Firstly I wanted to say that if I was still a first time mum then this would have been extremely useful and would have appealed to my compulsion to monitor sleep/food/nappies, etc. But as a second time mum I didn't really feel the need to track stuff in the same way as I was much more aware of any problems without the need to consult.
What aspects of the Mumsnet Baby Bundle app did you find most useful?

  • I liked the guide to common illness and ailments.
Would you recommend it to other parents? Why?
  • Yes to first time parents as mentioned above.
What else would you like to see in the app? I think it's good that it talks about vaccines, but it would be useful to give more detail about when each set are done (which weeks) - and what each set protect against, and whether you need to give Calpol for each set. How easy or difficult was it to use? Fairly easy and intuitive. Any other comments? The timers would be useful for concerned young mums but I wasn't keen to have stuff running so long and using my phone battery. It would be useful to have some sort of manual recording option, such as tracking how long between sleeps and feeds, instead of how long they took to each thing. In the night I only want to feed baby every 3 hrs for example, so a list of wake-ups or a way of marking that would be really good.
crazyinlurve · 11/03/2016 21:17

What aspects of the Mumsnet Baby Bundle app did you find most useful? - I found being able to keep track of naps and feeds really useful especially when your out and about and are having a busy day out of schedule.

Would you recommend it to other parents? - Why? Yes, most definatley especially for first time mums as helping keep track of feeds, nappy changes in the early days can be to much to remember when lack of sleep kicks in so this is a valuable app to have.

What else would you like to see in the app? - It has alot of useful tools, not sure of anything else that could be added at the moment.

How easy or difficult was it to use? Quite easy to use very simple and easy to navigate.

Any other comments - Overall very happy and think new mums will love it

ninjaturtlesmum · 12/03/2016 11:19

What aspects of the Mumsnet Baby Bundle app did you find most useful?

The health part. A very good reference guide in one place. I liked the traffic light on when to keep at home, see gp etc. I wouldn't use the nap, feed, nappy function. I'm just not that type of person. My little girl is also my third though so that may have something to do with it.

Would you recommend it to other parents? Why?

I would recommend the unpaid part. I do really like the health but though and would recommend that. I would probably recommend it to someone who is more organised that I am. I don't and never have had a proper routine with any of my children but it would probably suit my sister in law to a tee.

What else would you like to see in the app?

If I think of apps I found useful (my baby is now 1) but when she was younger I used the wonder weeks app which got me through some hard times in regards her development and what I should expect. That information may be good for this app.

How easy or difficult was it to use?
Any other comments?

It wasn't hard to use. Graphics are cute and easy to understand.

AppleDragon · 12/03/2016 12:53

What aspects of the Mumsnet Baby Bundle app did you find most useful?
The health reference pages were useful and clear to understand.

Would you recommend it to other parents? Why?
I would definitely recommend to first time parents. Being able to track feeding and sleeping is a great function for anyone who needs guidance in setting up a routine.

What else would you like to see in the app? Nothing
I can think of

How easy or difficult was it to use? Very easy to set up and use

Any other comments?
Attractive layout

Ladylucky99 · 12/03/2016 20:19

What aspects of the Mumsnet Baby Bundle app did you find most useful?

I really liked being able to record any dates for doctor and midwife appointments. This is super helpful with baby brain

Would you recommend it to other parents? Why? Yes it's great, quick and easy to access on your phone and you can keep an eye on your little ones development process

What else would you like to see in the app?weaning help and recipes

How easy or difficult was it to use? Very easy
Any other comments

confuseddotcom82 · 14/03/2016 10:42

What aspects of the Mumsnet Baby Bundle app did you find most useful?

I thought the tracking section was great, I am a little bit obsesed about things like this and it was great to be able to have everything in one place! I also thought the health section was very informative and useful when on the go.

Would you recommend it to other parents?
Yes - particularly first time parents

Why?
As a tracking tool it was particularly useful as often in the early days it can be really important to monitor the amount and frequency of feeds, plus nappy changes, particularly when breast feeding and babies aren't so often in a set routine.

What else would you like to see in the app?
It's only a small point but it was incredibly annoying to have to keep working out how many minutes there were in each nap, particularly overnight. There is no need for the seconds measurement as even those with the strongest attention to detail won't need this, hours and minutes would be sufficient!

Also I think that weight should be the first category rather then length or head circumference as they are not measured so frequently.

I also think it would be good to have a monitoring page where you could add in any new things that baby has achieved for you to look back on in the future.

Also is any of the data exportable as if you change phones etc it would be a shame if the info was lost. It would be good to email the info out so you can have a permanent record of it. I've still got the
feed/nappy/sleep chart I made for DD1 6 years ago.

How easy or difficult was it to use?
I thought it was very easy to use and navigate.

Any other comments?
No, other than thanks for letting me test!

happytocomply · 14/03/2016 16:45

What aspects of the Mumsnet Baby Bundle app did you find most useful?

I think I would have found it useful to track the frequency of feeds and nappy chances in the early days. Now, at 9 months, I'm not so interested but I would use this feature with a newborn.

Would you recommend it to other parents? Why?

Yes, to the parents of a new baby it would be a very useful and fun app. But with the advice if breastfeeding, not to stress too much about frequency or duration of feeds.

What else would you like to see in the app?

More info on the vaccination and development checks schedule. I have missed the 8-9 month check and a reminder would have been great!

How easy or difficult was it to use?

Very easy.

Any other comments?

Jackie221084 · 14/03/2016 16:46

What aspects of the Mumsnet Baby Bundle app did you find most useful?
The part where it tells me my baby's age in months and days
Would you recommend it to other parents? Why?
Not really, it doesnt do anything special that other parenting apps dont do.
What else would you like to see in the app?
Not sure
How easy or difficult was it to use?
Very easy to set up and use
Any other comments?
No

CornishDoll82 · 16/03/2016 17:45

What aspects of the Mumsnet Baby Bundle app did you find most useful?

  • when my baby was younger the monitoring feeding and sleeping bits would have been most useful

Would you recommend it to other parents? Why?

  • yes and no! The app is good but there are other apps that do the same things for free so I wouldn't recommend paying for it

What else would you like to see in the app?

  • a link you with local info such as new mum groups and activities

How easy or difficult was it to use?

  • Fairly easy, although fiddly in parts

Other comments

  • there are some inaccuracies for instance saying seafood is not allowed under 1 due to risk of food poisoning - this isn't NHS advice
  • I'm not sure the point of the monitor but that might just be me misunderstanding!
Nan0second · 16/03/2016 18:17

Have never been able to make it work on my iPad and once I tried to make it work on my phone, it stated this was a second device and thus I gave up.
I deleted test flight so I can't send the error messages as requested.
I would never pay for an app though.

EssexWelsh · 16/03/2016 18:59

I've had numerous problems trying to log on, have deleted and downloaded the app twice and have not succeeded in being able to get into the extra content which I understand to be subscription only. I would possibly pay a one off fee for the app but would never pay monthly as everything on there you can get from other apps and honestly with a toddler and a baby I don't have time to log every detail would only go in sporadically when I needed an answer to a question and then I probably would look elsewhere anyway. Not sure how dramatically different to other apps on the market? But possibly because I haven't been able to use it just by what it says it does.

BendydickCuminsnatch · 16/03/2016 21:22

What aspects of the Baby Bundle app did you find most useful?
The developmental milestones and the health reference sections.

Would you recommend it to other parents? Why?
Yes because it's like many apps I have all combined in to one - monitor, BabyCentre type advice, NHS medical advice type stuff.

What else would you like to see in the app?
It's quite extensive, I think it could be too much if there was even more in there.

How easy or difficult was it to use?
I didn't have any problems at all activating/logging on etc, very straight forward to set up IME.

Any other comments?

hinkyhonk · 17/03/2016 09:18

I've been testing this app but have just gone back into it to try again to set up the baby monitor but and now the premium content is locked. I was under the impression that it would be free indefinitely. Not very impressed.

rahlikeatiger · 19/03/2016 21:28

What aspects of the Mumsnet Baby Bundle app did you find most useful?
The parent guide - weaning information, health information etc

Would you recommend it to other parents? Why?
I'm unsure as I think the subscription is a little pricey - I already have babyconnect where I record all data re sleep and feeding and although it hasn't got the information parts I think the one off cost is more appealing. Plus I have google so can access a range of information without payment.

What else would you like to see in the app?
I think you need to hone some of the parts you have already to make them work better - without adding more to the fray. For example - the baby monitor.

How easy or difficult was it to use?
After initial set up difficulties it was fairly easy to use.

Any other comments?
Good app but not sure its worth the monthly subscription.

ThinkAboutItTomorrow · 20/03/2016 18:32

Probably a great Tool for first time parents. Tracking stuff in one place and all the info in one place would probably have been useful. I remember with DD1 keeping track of her routine so this would have been good. With DD2 I don't see the point in all the tracking.

The info is good but just a repeat of the mumsnet site, might have been good to have some extra content.

It would also be good to have offline access to the info and trackers.

I will try the monitor as that sounds very useful.

CornishDoll82 · 27/03/2016 16:53

Has anyone managed to get the monitor to work? If so can you let me know how? My OH even paid to sign up to use it but it's just not working....

BeccaUdell · 29/03/2016 16:59

I love these type of apps and started using it when my daughter was just 3 weeks old!

Although I had some problem with it I found the breastfeeding timer the most useful! I love being able to see how long and on which breast my baby last fed, especially in the first few weeks and for some first time mums in can be worrying to work out wether your baby is getting enough milk.

Yes I would reccomend it to other parents the amount of health information on there is vast and it's great for first time parents!

A great addition to the app would be to be able to add your own appointments for each check up so that it could remind you when they were and you know you've booked them then!

Generally found it fairly easy to use however had some troubles with the breastfeeding timer as when I came out of the app when still feeding it would sometimes forget how long id been feeding for and also it would be great if the measurements section meant you only had too add one of the measurements rather than all 3 as my daughters length wasn't first measured till she was 6 weeks old and only weight measured regularly!

j3nnif3r1 · 11/04/2016 14:59

I had several issues with downloading the app, and now most frustratingly have been charged for the premium membership...please can this be rectified??!

I found it annoying that I had to download another app to use the "forums" function.

I have a good app that I use for timing my feelings / nappy changes / sleep etc and as such I wouldn't switch when all my previous data is already in another app - however this Is a good feature.

The news feed was interesting, and the charts are good.

Overall the app is good, but I would want to pay a one off rather than monthly subscription charge (which as a tester I shouldn't be paying at all!!)

j3nnif3r1 · 11/04/2016 15:00

I also couldn't get the family sharing / monitor parts to work

RebeccaEMumsnet · 12/04/2016 15:44

Hi j3nnif3r1 ,

I have sent you a message to help you sort out the issue with the charges, as you definitely shouldn't be being charged as a tester. We'll help you sort this out. Smile

Thanks,
MNHQ

tackyprincess · 12/04/2016 20:30

What aspects of the Mumsnet Baby Bundle app did you find most useful?
I found the parenting guide useful when I was starting to wean my daughter

Would you recommend it to other parents? Why?
Yes I would recommend. It has many tools that parents would find useful.

What else would you like to see in the app?
Nothing that I can think of

How easy or difficult was it to use?
Very easy to use

Any other comments?

gemmasouthworth · 14/04/2016 14:48

After some issues getting the app and redeeming the code I finally got it to work. It is a fairly useful app (if you remember to use it-usually my problem) I can't see there recurring price being good value for money however.

googietheegg · 15/04/2016 12:22

What aspects of the Mumsnet Baby Bundle app did you find most useful? I liked the 'everything in one place' element of the app.

Would you recommend it to other parents? - Why? I would deffo recommend this to new mums but for second-or-third time mums, no. Actually, I'd think it would be great for first time mums before they have their baby but when they've started maternity leave.

What else would you like to see in the app? - Maybe some meditation exercises for stressed moments?!.

How easy or difficult was it to use? Pretty easy to use - unless you're crazy tired and it all got a bit much, but then so does everything when I'm feeling like that so I can't blame the app!

Any other comments - I would have loved this when my first baby was born and all the naps/poos/pukes seem too short/too little/too much!
