Do you and your DCs love arts and crafts? Cadbury is on the hunt to find the country’s most artistic family.

This thread is for all of those who want to enter the competition. It is also for the 50 Mumsnetters who received a box of Cadbury Dairy Milk Egg ‘n’ Spoon along with two How to Guides on what to do with your leftover box.

Here’s what Cadbury Dairy Milk have to say, “We’re really looking forward to hearing about the fun Mumsnetters had making their Egg ‘N’ Spoon box creations and, of course, seeing the pictures! We really hope that getting creative with your DCs will bring out those spontaneous moments of joy.”

Non-testers: Cadbury Dairy Milk Egg ‘N’ Spoon are launching a Mumsnet wide competition to find the UK’s most artsy family. To enter the competition you need to upload a picture onto this thread of your own Egg ‘N’ Spoon box creations. To get you started Cadbury have provided two how-to guides on how to make musical instruments from the left over box, which you can follow and add your own personal touches to.

Q1. Our how to guides were for Larry the lamb which was a bit complicated & long winded for my DS as he is only 2. The Mexican bean shaker was better but required two boxes & at £4 a pack I wasn't keen to invest so we made a monster instead, which he much preferred.
Q2. Our whole creation was personal touches, we painted the box & added wobbly eyes & feathers & pipe cleaners.
Q3. Our instrument was a Mexican bean shaker but needed too boxes.
Q4. We used out box to make a monster.

Found the chocolate filling very sickly, much prefer the white mousse ones but at £4 a box won't be rushing out to buy many as they really aren't that nice

The chocolate was lovely, have seen them for £4/£5 in co-op and wouldn't pay that much for them but if on offer over Easter, we'll definitely demolish another box!

We didn't use the guides. I couldn't stand anymore arguing - the box got ripped in half. (one box, two children hmmm)

Yep dirt, seeds and signage (check out the picture!)

None - after all the arguing of what they going to be doing, I need peace and quiet.

A seed tray - with icecream lid for a tray, lolly sticks and cardboard for signs and the little spoons made a handy scoop for making a hole for the seed to be put in. :)

we only got the one box so couldnt make the drum as you needed two boxes for that, we had no tissue paper so instead we made a wee jewelry box which worked out really well, i have photos but dont know how to put them on this thread, the eggs r too expensive id never spend two quid on them and the kids didnt like them and they were a bit sickly for me, ill post the photos if i can, bt we did have fun making the jewelry box, thanks

1. Our guides were for the drum and a basket, but we rebelled and made something different.

1. We added an empty kitchen towel tube, two empty toilet roll tubes, some papier mache, pipe cleaners and googly eyes.

1. If I'd had the guide for the bean shaker I would have wanted to make it.

1. My girls are both really into Beauty and the Beast at the minute, so with our box and the extra items above, we made our own version of Lumiere the candlestick. I doubt we'll be getting any calls soon from the Disney Pixar animation team, but we had fun attempting it. We used the egg holder parts of the box to make the candle holders, the lid for the base of the candlestick and the extra scraps went into the papier mache. We painted it, drew on a face and added some googly eyes.

I did like the chocolate, but then, I like most chocolate. I was a little surprised that there are four eggs but only two spoons in the box. However, I quelled any spoon storms by eating two of the eggs myself without a spoon.

We have become rather addicted to the Egg 'n' Spoon eggs whilst they have been on offer recently and seem to have gone through a fair number boxes between the family over the past few weeks- we especially like the chocolate mousse version. They are quite pricey but I have been buying them at £1.75 for four which is fine- although even though they are a treat I would possibly go for something else if they are full price.

We seemed to end up with about four boxes in our junk modelling box and the children had an enjoyable hour after school cutting and sticking and designing things- egg boxes are so versatile! One box was cut in half and used as a teddy bed but didn't live to tell the tall- the other half has been used to grow cress.

The pictures we have uploaded show the 'presents for Mummy' my children have made me! My six year old son, meticulously cut out the egg bits and shaped them before sticking 'gems' inside and out, covering them in glitter glue and attaching pipe-cleaners to make flowers.- They were harder to stand in the 'vase' than we expected though although the tissue paper 'water' helped though! My two year old daughter apparently made a 'box' although my son assures me (and seems to have convinced her!) that it is a jewellery box- she decorated it inside and out with pompoms, stickers and gems- she had a fantastic time getting messy with the glue and glitter.

They both thoroughly enjoyed both the chocolate and the arts and crafts and we will definitely be treating ourselves again.

Q1. What did you make with the how-to guides?
We didn't - partly because they were too tricky for my 2yo and 5yo and partly because I was annoyed that we'd need two boxes. Q2+3 therefore n/a

Q4. What else, if anything, did you make with your Egg 'N' Spoon box?
We went completely off-piste and made a brachiosaurus using the box, card, glue, tape and felt tips.

If anyone is interested, the head/neck, tail and spikes all fitted on one sheet of A4 so it was quite an efficient make. We later made another with a normal egg box but had to amputate two "legs" so it wasn't the same.

These Egg n Spoon treats are SOOOOO Yummy - we keep stocking up on more of them every time we pop to the shops. The whole family loves them!

This is our Egg and Spoon box Castle; the box has been painted grey, the drawbridge is made from cocktail sticks, the canon is the spoon from the box with the addition of a cocktail stick and elastic band. The flag is a small piece of J cloth with a J for Jack attached to a piece of straw. The moat is painted paper and the windows of the castle are drawn on with felt tip pen. Lots of fun!

We made a Pretty Pink Camera with our Egg n Spoon box!

I'm a photographer and I often have to take my 2 year old with me on shoots, she's always trying to grab at my camera and equipment. We had a lot of fun sitting down this week making her, her very glittery camera. She just loves it and keeps 'clicking' away around the house just like her Mummy. We made the body of the camera from the box and painted it pink, added a toilet roll holder for the lens and used the spoon from the box for a glittery pink flash. We had a strap spare from an old juice cup and added it so it looked even more like my cameras. I'm very proud of Gia for taking pride in something she helped to make with Mummy :-) She loved the chocolate too, which is a bonus!

Dd wanted to make some kind of animal with her box.

She made Perry the Platypus! She stapled 4 legs, a beak and a tail (cut out from the base of the box) onto the lid, then covered it with paper mache and finally painted it.

Btw, both kids loved the chocolate eggs!

Thanks for letting us test the chocolate. The dd's loved them but I found it a bit to sickly so they scoffed all four.

Dd decided to make a handbag for her little sister as she loves carrying things around. She thought as the box opens it is just like the real thing and plans on hiding little chocolate eggs in it for Easter. Little dd loved it!
