This is the feedback thread for the 20 MNers who have been trying out the new foods from Organix for little ones aged 1-3yrs old.

If you're not a tester - we'd love you to share on this thread your own feedback on existing Organix toddler foods. Everyone who does so will be entered into a prize draw where one MNer will win a hamper of Organix products worth £50

Ok so we tried a few more things today. The squeezy tubes weren't really suitable for DD (she was only 1 last week) unless I squeezed them out into a bowl, I did this and she loved the taste but is too young to master squeezing it out herself just yet. I offered one to DS (3.5yrs) but he snubbed it! She also loved the mango pouches but I gave her it off a spoon and she sucked the last little bit out of the pouch.

The beef and dumpling stew came in very handy for dinner as we had been stuck in a traffic jam and didnt get home until 545pm. She hoffed it down! The dumplings were a good size for her to fish out with her fingers herself and the rest she just used her hands, or a spoon and ate the whole thing! I would probably keep one of these on the cupboard for a time saver like today. Would be nice to see ones with chunky bits of butternut squash or pumpkin maybe? A chunky root vegetable stew?

Will try the soups and last stew I have over the weekend!

My daughter has always loved the organix fingerfoods range and almost aaaalllll of the goodies range as well but truthfully we haven't tried Mighty meals yet. We try to make all of her meals to be similar/the same to ours so we don't end up making lots of different meals every dinnertime. I think we will be trying them pretty soon, for times when what me and my partner want to eat isn't suitable for her...WE MISS SPICY CHILLI CON CARNE!!!

Non tester but my little one loves many products from the Organix range.
He used to have the baby rice, now he is into the raspberry rice cakes, and the different fruit pots.

Not a tester but the little boxes of raisins are great just to have in the house - handy for snacks, picnics and pack lunches. Reasonably priced, healthy and organically grown, what's not to like?

Q1 What was your overall first impressions of the selection of foods that Organix has just launched? Was it what you were expecting? If not how was it different?
The products received didn't look massively different from the existing range except the soups and meals. They look 'healthy' and wholesome.

Q2 Did any of the foods you received stand out as very new and different to what other toddler food is out there? Why do you say that?
The soup of course seems quite new and innovative, but is essentially watered down meals in my opinion. If I was being cynical, I'd say Organix looked around to see what was missing from the (getting very) overcrowded baby/kids meal market to see what avenue hadn't been exploited, and soup was it.

Q3 In general, when do you think you'd buy these foods again - can you think of specific occasions when they?d really help you?
I might buy the squeezy multipack and mighty meals if they were on offer. They offer convenience and handy to have in the cupboard for an emergency.

Q4 Did you / your partner try any of the foods yourself, if so what did you think of them? What we tried was okay, the nicest thing was the squeezy. Otherwise, it was a bit bland for me. I wasn't particularly fond of the goodies bars or the meals/soup with beans.

Q5 What did you think of the value for money for the items?
I honestly think they are fearfully expensive, and tend to only buy if I absolutely have to (ie. if there is a limits choice and it is the better choice of what's on offer), or if they are on a pricing offer.

Q6 And last, but importantly, what did your little one think of the foods? Were there any firm favourites that you will look to purchase in the future, and if so why?
Mighty Meals - massive portion for my Dd2 who is 1 yo. She's a big eater but half was more than enough. So I halved the tub and used over 2 nights. The beef stew was quite nice and was wolfed down. the bean and lamb hotspot was horrid! She spat it out and refused anymore.
Soup - hearty root veg and beans was ok, and we've yet to try the sweet corn soup. I found the soup too watery and anticipated it would have been hard to feed to her without making a lot of mess so I bulked it out with some torn up bread. Also, the tub was pretty full, and got very hot in the microwave which then meant it was hard to carry out to the table (I should have put the tub on a plate). I think in future (if i bought again) I will warm slowly on the hob in a pan so that its not the temp of lava in a roasting hot container!
Number Jumble Raspberry - gimmicky and not liked. She prefers good old weetabix.
Apricot Oaty Bars and Strawberry Oaty Bars - I've NEVER liked these! Sorry! I bought them for dd1 when she was young and she didn't like them much and I swear I am still finding the crumbs. They are messy to eat, crumble too easy, and not convenient in my opinion. They also 'deform' too easily in the bottom of my handbag! Dd2 also didn't like them.
Squeezy multipack; Mango - now these were great. It so happened that dd2 came down with chicken pox last week, and we ran out of yogurts so I offered one of these to her and she loved it. I think it must have been refreshing when she was feeling lousy.
Fruit Gummies- Mango. Not a fan. They taste nice but they are too small for a 1yo even with guidance, and look pretty unappealing.
Squeezy Tubes Strawberry & Pear- again, not practical for a 1yo. Messy. I prefer my yoghurts in a tub.

Sorry, I feel a lot of my feedback has been pretty negative, but we're really not that impressed with much of the range but do appreciate the opportunity to try things out.

I'm sadly not a tester, but have tried several products. My little one not only LOVES the porridges over any other brand, he's now an avid fan of the finger foods - mainly the berry rice cakes. I perceive the brand to be far healthier than others, and think the strap line of 'No Junk Promise' is genius. I'm a fan of the packaging also.

was determined to make all homemade food for my daughter from the start, and very conscious of ingredients. However, I love the Organix range. I started first with the rice cakes, then tried a meal as a backup. Fab. Really nice flavours and real ingredients, no added extras. We now also have the fruit pots and the stir in pots are fantastic when you are stuck for ideas. I love thai curry so introducing a mild toddler friendly version by using the stir in pots is great.

Hope they make some more flavours.

Was impressed with the range of foods, a good variety of savoury and sweet treats. It was a lot more than I was expecting!

Q2 Did any of the foods you received stand out as very new and different to what other toddler food is out there? Why do you say that?

The soups stood out, it's the first time I've seen soups specifically for toddlers and was pleased to have something different to try.

Q3 In general, when do you think you'd buy these foods again - can you think of specific occasions when they?d really help you?

I'd usually buy foods like this of planning a trip or visiting people so not having to fuss sorting lo's foods, would buy these in the same way.

Q4 Did you / your partner try any of the foods yourself, if so what did you think of them?

I didn't try the foods myself.


Q5 What did you think of the value for money for the items?

I think they're reasonable value for money, not the cheapest option but a good range and good ingredients so worth it.

Q6 And last, but importantly, what did your little one think of the foods? Were there any firm favourites that you will look to purchase in the future, and if so why?

Lo loved most of the foods, apart from the soups which I expected her to love! She especially liked the squeezy strawberry tubes :)

Not a tester, but used the Organic snack range with both my DDs. I really liked the tomato crisp type things as they were very low in salt compared to 'normal' crisps. And as other posters have said, the cereal bars were really good for chucking in the change bag when going out- an easy, fairly healthy and not too messy toddler snack- what's not to like!

Not a tester but have used the Organix range since DS1 was weaned. We use the fruit pots -with cereal for breakfast, or with natural yoghurt as a pudding - and the rice cakes.
I'd agree with a couple of previous posters that the prices have gone up dramatically, especially the cereal bars. I often used to buy these for DS1 but by the time DS2 was old enough, they were far too expensive to buy regularly! Grandparents still get them though and both boys do enjoy them, though they are far too crumbly in my opinion.
Other favourites are the Alphabet Biscuits and the Gingerbread Men which I love as both boys enjoy them and see them as a treat, without there being any sugary dried fruit involved... Again, they're expensive and I tend to look out for offers and stock up when there's a multibuy deal.

Just wanted to add to my previous comment. We had the squeezy tubes yesterday while out and about (on the Bakerloo line, to be precise). I take back anything positive which I said about them. The packaging is a monumental nightmare if you don't have a pair of scissors and if your children are not sat quietly in a saintly fashion at a table. Firstly it takes many attempts to rip the end off, and when you helpfully do it for the children it explodes all down your cream jacket. The 5 year old does it with her teeth and ends up scraping the colour and print off the foil packet and eating it- so much for an organic diet. The 1 year old can't master the art of gentle squeezing and fires puree all over her head. Then you are left with two really disgusting sticky packets and nowhere to put them.
The versions with screw caps are a hundred times more convenient. We liked the Organix ones and found them on a par with those offered by other brands including Ellas and Plum.

Tried the hearty beef casserole and Dd scoffed the lot. I do occasionally buy toddler meals for emergencies and would buy this again. The reason I havent bought the organix toddler meals before is i think the packaging is quite dull (for the toddler meals ). and DP and I were looking at it and dont think it stands out on the shelves ?

One more thing to try, sweetcorn soup!

Forgot to give my thoughts on one hearty root veg and bean soup. Again DD ate the lot but quite hard for a,just one year old to eat without being spoon fed. We gavé her bread to dip in which worked.

Not sure if i would buy that soup again, although she loved it i would normally just give her some family soup.

Not a tester but Ds loves all the crisps (I jus wonder why they don't make adult crisps with no junk, as they are very nice)

Also like the flapjack bars which are dead easy to grab when I'm heading out the door. There is always one in my handbag for emergency snacking. Sometimes buy a few of the meals for back of the cupboard dinners too.

The quality is good and love that they have no junk in any of the meals. It's very good for baby food.

Not a tester but an Organix fan.

DS(2) is a vegetable refuser but loves the veg & oat bars and has one most days with lunch. It's nice to see a savoury snack bar as most snacks for toddlers seem to be sweet. I used to give him the carrot cake oat bars too, but was shocked at how sweet they were when I tried one so I don't buy them anymore.

The fruit pots are also great & taste much nicer than the other brands I have tried. DS has one with his cereal for breakfast most days.

The gingerbread men are fab and don't instantly turn to crumbs when I pop a few in my bag for when we're out and about.

Just coming back to comment on Beef Stew & Dumplings and Veg. DS wouldn't touch the veg as they were a bit bland, but once I had mushed up the dumplings, which were quite herby, they gave the rest of the meal some flavour.

There are so many herbs I don't understand why baby/toddler food needs to be bland? It can't be just my ds who enjoys strong flavours?

We use a lot of the goodies things here, the crisps, oaty bars and gingerbread men on a regular basis. I'd second a previous poster who said it'd be nice if the animal biscuits came in smaller handy packs. At the moment I keep a giant pack in the car glove box for shutting them up emergencies.

Obviously I haven't tried them but I'm liking the sound of the gummy things too. I probably wouldn't pay for the meals as I've ever given DDs a ready meal, just ready made snacks iyswim.

Oooh, also a fan of the veg oat bars here. Well, DD2 is, Dd1 not so much, she much prefers the sweet ones but won't eat my savoury flapjacks either. Agree with PP, to nice to have more choice of savoury snack, most you can buy are sweet.

All of my three enjoyed the Organix crisp-style snacks when they were little, and still like the fruity rice cakes (Apple, Blueberry) at ages 5 and 8!

Not a tester either but I do buy the oaty bars. Apple/orange and raspberry/apple are favourites in this house, particularly with the 21 month old. The 3 1/2 yr old is less keen these days! I do think they are very expensive thought but still buy them!

Q1 - very impressed by number of items sent, even tho they had all been listed on the original thread.

Gummies and pouches looked enticing, whilst Mighty Meals and Soups looked a bit bland and boring.

Dd was very excited opening the box!

Q2 - afraid nothing really stood as innovative, I'd say I'd seen most of the products on supermarket shelves previously, with the exception of Gummies.

Might consider Squeezy Tubes for the freezer as they make great ice poles.

A 'no' for the rest, even though I like the idea of a ready meal in the cupboard for emergencies, I'd rather a different meal eg mild curry

Not a tester, but we buy Organix. I fed their snacks to DS 6 years ago and I'm about to do the same with DS!
