Laundry Pack
Q1. What were your thoughts and feelings about Ecover products prior to trying them? Had you used any before? What was your overall impression of the Ecover products you tried?
*I tried them years ago, but didn't find them very effective. At the time (where I was living) you had to get them from a specific supplier as well, which was a bit of a faff'
Q2. Thinking about the pack you tried for MN, what did you think of the overall results of the products? Was it what you expected? Did the product 'do the job'? Do you like the smell or the feel of the product?
I had a trial size of the washing up liquid. I didn't mind the lack of bubbles - in fact due to the fact that the sink is slow to drain, lack of bubbles is a good thing, but was disappointed that it didn't do as good a job as my regular liquid. I wouldn't buy it.
The fabric conditioner really made the clothes feel soft & lovely. I always use a fabric conditioner but really noticed the difference when hanging the clothes on the airer, so it must have been significant as I wasn't 'looking' for it.
The laundry liquid did an OK job but it was a bit of a faff having to use the stain remover on things that my usual product would have got out in the normal wash. However, I don't usually use a non bio product.
I haven't used the small bottle of softner yet (not actually sure why you have the fabric conditioner and a softner)
Q3. What did you think of the product?s packaging? Did you read anything surprising on the packaging? Are the GHI/sensitive skin logos important to you? The plastic is made from renewable sugar cane, was this made clear on the pack? Is this important to you?
Unfortunately my delivery took a while to get to me (I had to get it delivered to work as it required a signature and I wasn't back at work for a few days) then I was away for a few days, so I haven't actually had long to trial the product & haven't had the time to really look at the bottle, though I would have done when I finished the product. I think it's great it's made from sugar cane - though it's a bonus rather then a huge consideration when buying the product.
Also, unfortunately, it is giving me 'chemical headaches. I am very sensitive to certain oils/fragrances and as soon as a container is opened with them in I get a bad headache. I do like the fragrances & products though, so I will try each of them, one at a time, alongside my regular products and see if I can still use some, if not all, of the products. Unfortunately this will take time & Katie has told me they are closing this thread tomorrow. I will probably also do this when the weather is a bit better and the washing can got outside, it hasn't been great being in the house with the laundry drying. Looking at the list of ingredients it's probably the citronellol.*
Q4. How important is it too you that products are kind to sensitive skin and/or allergy sufferers when making a purchase decision? Do you or anyone in your family have sensitive skin and/or allergies? If so, how did you find using the Ecover products?
See above - skin not an issue, but oils/fragrances are
Q5. If you were in charge of Ecover what, if any, improvements would you make? How would you 'sell' them to consumers?
Make them more mainstream and less 'worthy' in the advertising. Very lentil weavery appeal to date
Q6. Do you think you would buy the products in the future? If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend them to a friend? Why? If not, why?
Having read some of this thread I'd be keen to try some of the other products, however, due to the headache issues I'm not sure I will unless they would like to send me other samples to try or make sample sizes available. I don't want to waste money on a product I might not be able to use when I have products that do the job that don't give me headaches.
Q7 And having tried them, what are your overall thoughts and feelings about the products now? Has it changed your perception of the brand? If so, how?
It still feels like 'a work in progress' - the products are improving, but still not as good as other products, but are more environmentally friendly ... and as long as that gap is closing it's a good thing
