Mr Cameron,
Following the Badman report and the wholesale adoption of it by the government without any or adequate consultation, and despite strong opposition and research disputing the validity of Mr Badman's report and warning against the removing the parent's duty to educate children and placing it on the state, what does your party intend to do to safeguard the right of children to home education, and in particular to autonomous education?

Should I be permitted a further question, my second question is, would you agree that children should have a right to flexible education at schools as they are entitled to school placements anyway [and their parents still have to make tax payments even though the children are home schooled], and that the choice should not be 'either in school or out of school'; and how do you intend to ensure that children can access their schools.

thank you

thereistheball · 19/11/2009 14:56

I'd like to ask - in the last 24 hours you have responded to the Queen's Speech, been interviewed by John Humphries, and braved MNHQ. Which was the most nerve-wracking?

Oh dear. He's getting a bit of a Twatting Twitterati bashing now.

wasabipeanut · 19/11/2009 14:57

Actually Dittany I asked a question about that last night but it didn't get picked up. I asked if the Conservatives would use the Kelly report as a reforming platform - end all these arcane proceedures like late night sittings that put women off politics.

slug · 19/11/2009 14:57

Cheers dittany. Twas always obvious he wasn't going to answer that question. Too politically damaging to explain why talent within the party is ignored unless you look and talk like the leader.

NickNemo · 19/11/2009 14:57

No answer to my questions on immigrants, again!

I give up!!

SomeGuy · 19/11/2009 14:57

colditz, he's already answered on tax credits "Shineoncrazydiamond and others who asked about tax credits

Here?s a straight, non-waffle answer. As a part time worker and a lone parent, you should not lose out. ".

Make of that what you will, but you cannot seriously expect him to tell you that you will get precisely £6,283.45 in tax credits under a Conservative government.

Thanks so much, I hope you feel we've covered most of the main issues raised - sorry not to have more time but I hope to come back to Mumsnet soon.

We'll have a look through and if there are any glaring omissions I promise to get back to you as soon as possible. Also please don't hesitate to get in touch with my office either by letter or email.

nickelbabe · 19/11/2009 14:58

Starlight: my thoughts exactly.

it needs to be more across the board.

i could own my own home and not have a single spare penny: but i'd have to sell that in order to pay for my care and my children would still be left without an inheritance.

pollycazalet · 19/11/2009 14:58

I don't think this is serious engagement. Sorry Mr C. I think you skimped on prep.

RnB · 19/11/2009 14:58

You didn't answer my question about using actual parents of special needs as an advisory panel? I can understand you not wanting to join me for a drink next thursday - but this is a good idea!

Flum · 19/11/2009 14:58

Dear Mr Cameron

I guess you will be off soon. Thank you for answering some of the questions. I am sure you felt utterly bombarded.

We are all a bit cocky from behind our monitors I guess and think we have all the answers. We all know ourselves that if there ain't no money there ain't no money.

Just add 5p to income tax and be done with it.

Flum x

NickNemo · 19/11/2009 14:59

That was a rubbish webchat!!! Bring back Gordon Brown!!

MadameDefarge · 19/11/2009 14:59

I know we aren't meant to badger, but really want to know his views on bipartisan politics. GB didn't answer either.

re. inheritance tax - the current allowance is £325k PER PERSON and it is transferable to the surviving spouse so it is ACTUALLY £650K. The tories never mention this as £235K does not sound an awful lot (for those that live in the SE anyway)

Why is that not high enough, that it has to be increased to 1 MILLION.

How many people have an estate of 1 MILLION?? a tiny tiny fraction of the whole country!

And why oh why are you taking rich non doms to help wealthy homeowners pass their wealth TAX FREE to their children.

colditz · 19/11/2009 15:00

Someguy - why not? WHy can't I expect that? If he hasn't thought about how much money he is going to allow for each situation, what on earth is he doing looking to be in charge of an entire country?

GentleOtter · 19/11/2009 15:00

I feel a bit disappointed to be honest.

SkipToMyLou · 19/11/2009 15:00

Dear Flum,

Speak for yourself, there's a hun.

Skip x

SomeGuy · 19/11/2009 15:00

Worst webchat EVER.

Don't think DC will be hurrying back.....

slug · 19/11/2009 15:00

Sympathy NickNemo. I'm in the same position. Last time I cam through customs I was stopped, despite my indefinite leave to remain stamp, and asked under what grounds I was entering Britian. My answer was that "I do a job that none of you lot are qualified for"

Disappointing.

I am left feeling that my initial feelings that he cannot relate to our needs were right.
