We're delighted to welcome Mr Henry Winkler (aka The Fonz) to Mumsnet for a live webchat from his home in LA. Henry has transformed his own experiences of struggling through school with unidentified dyslexia into a great series of books for kids; 'Hank Ziper: The World's Greatest Underachiever'. As well as telling us about his books, Henry will be chatting about his own experiences with dsylexia, his recent tour of UK schools and of course dancing around the juke box at Arnold's Restaurant. If you can't join us on the day, post your advance questions here.

I have read this back this morning and have tears rolling down my face. It's so funny.

Henry you were great last night, an hour wasn't enough.
You were excellent, and I'm sure you can tell through all the swooning that we appreciate your webchat.

lulumama did you see he actually replied to you by your name? You are now, very officially, my best friend.

Boco · 07/07/2009 09:30

Can we have the Dalai Lama next?

wotzy · 07/07/2009 09:31

I have started a webcaht appreciation society, could we put suggestions on there?

Hi Boco, long time no see (on my part, only popped in for Henry)

wotzy · 07/07/2009 09:33

Fab stuff

Henry Winkler I salute you

popsycal · 07/07/2009 12:02

I have been thinking. Henry Winkler is much cooler than The FOnz. Wayheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeey cooler

GeraldineMumsnet · 07/07/2009 12:56

In the warm afterglow of the Fonzie chat (and chillier post-Daisy aftermath), want to get your thoughts on a possible change to webchats.

Do you think it would be good or bad idea to start a fresh thread for the actual chat?

So we'd have one thread to flag it up, invite questions etc, then new thread on the day for chat itself?

Or would we lose the plot coherence etc?

Thanks
MNHQ

EachPeachPearMum · 07/07/2009 12:59

I think it would be difficult for those who want to read it after the event. (separate threads)

Simples · 07/07/2009 13:09

yes grealdine i do

wotzy · 07/07/2009 13:21

Geraldine I do, but I don't.
You won't be able to stop the frenzy of MNers posting. The only way (i can see) would be to have a webchat which MN vets posts on before they are published (blog like) IYKWIM.

So you suggest how it would work..put it on site stuff.

I quite like Leningrad's idea - would make it easier for the 'proper' questions to be visible, before we descend into swooning or bitch-slapping

Oh OK, we could clarify points as well.

ReallyReally · 07/07/2009 13:52

yes yes separate threads

thell · 07/07/2009 14:20

Ooh, yes - separate threads.

Before seeing my first MN webchat I assumed that 'get your questions in beforehand' meant emailing them to MNHQ, rather than adding them to a thread...that seems like a potentially less confusing option for the chattee, who wouldn't have to wade through all the swooning etc. Or is that missing the point a bit?!

squeaver · 07/07/2009 14:35

Yes I think that would be a good idea BUT the guest MUST copy the question into the actual chat thread so we know what they're answering.

Rhubarb · 07/07/2009 14:44

Lots of people on this thread that I've not seen for aaaages.

Boco · 07/07/2009 14:48

I suppose as well, a chat guest person doesn't have to wade through a discussion about whether or not everyone is going to be rude to them or not.
