You magazine eco columnist and editor of a Slice of Organic Life, Sheherazade Goldsmith, will be joining us for an online chat to share her green tips on Wednesday June 18th from 1-2pm. Sheharazade is an eco mum with three children under ten. She's launching the Peter Rabbit Naturally Better initiative which sees the well-loved Beatrix Potter creation become the first ever licensed character to go green.

Created in 1893, the naughty little rabbit is the oldest licensed children's character in the world and this new initiative reflects the importance that Beatrix Potter placed on the natural world and the environment.

If you can't make it on Weds, you can post your questions in advance here. Otherwise, we'll see you with your organic salads (home grown of course ) on weds lunchtime.

My next question will be who in each of your houses has to clean the inevitably huge number of toilets with ground sea salt? Is this a task that yourself and Zac always do yourselves, and if not what do the staff really think about this choice of cleaning product, and more to the point how do they clean their own toilets at home?

ChicaLovesBranstonPickle · 14/06/2008 10:09

PMSL at this thread!

Do you think her people she will actually read all of this? Will she dare to show her face?

nkf · 14/06/2008 10:40

Girls, you are not kind. That's why I love you so.

tigermoth · 14/06/2008 10:57

Does she have a website? Where can I go online to read up on her eco suggestions?

tigermoth · 14/06/2008 11:00

Or are her suggestions available in paper format only? did someone say she is launching a book on this?

I think the emoticon works on so many levels when used in discussions of super rich eco mums

CristinaTheAstonishing · 14/06/2008 12:12

Is the book printed on recycled paper?

Monkeytrousers · 14/06/2008 13:02

DV - He middle name must be Ouroboros

Flibbertyjibbet · 14/06/2008 15:13

Ooo I can't wait for Wednesday

NotABanana · 14/06/2008 17:23

I know I should feel ashamed of you all being so mean.

But I don't!! She doesn't live in the real world I'm afraid.

LazyLinePainterJane · 14/06/2008 18:05

I hope that she is going to answer all of these questions

YeahBut · 14/06/2008 18:15

Oh, I must have missed that, were there actually any questions?...

Monkeytrousers · 14/06/2008 19:27

I'll make that an official question.

Is your middle name Ouroboros?

louii · 14/06/2008 20:22

Oh dear, this has to be a wind up, surely to god.

This thread is classic Mumsnet.

Habbibu · 14/06/2008 20:34

Grapefruit Moon - good idea. Think Anna Shephard sounds much more MN-friendly.

tigermoth · 15/06/2008 08:06

I googled Sheherazade Goldsmith and I got lots of reviews of her book 'A slice of Organic Life'. And interviews in newspapers. To be fair she does say her book is a collection of articles from other 'green' writers.

I was surprised to read that she has no heating in her house except for the Aga, to make up for the fact that it is environmenetally unfriendly. She says the family just wear lots of jumpers instead. Can she really have no other heating on with three young children in a large house?

No website AFAIK, so not a very eco friendly way of publicising her ideas. I wonder if there will there be a Peter Rabbit Naturually Better website?

Does she want everyone to be able to access her suggestions or just the people who can afford to buy her books?

EBenes · 15/06/2008 08:47

In fairness, she would not find a publisher who would take on a book she intended to give the full contents of away on the internet, and although she could afford to vanity publish, she wouldn't be able to come up with a product comparable to a main publishing house book, so no one would buy it, or seek out one among a million green web sites. And even if she is fabulously rich, I don't think being green and trying to make money out of it are contradictory.

tigermoth · 15/06/2008 08:58

But as the book has already been published surely she could have some sort of website presence/discussion forum linked to it?

Enid · 15/06/2008 10:01

they have no heating because they are never there

only at weekends and then they do lunch a lot

MrsBadger · 15/06/2008 10:10

and lots of Agas have a back boiler-type thing that heats water for radiators too

Boco · 15/06/2008 10:35

I grew up in an old farm with only an aga for heating. Well we eventually got heating, but only after several winters with ice on the inside of the windows in the morning. [hardened and weathered]

Judy1234 · 15/06/2008 11:27

I think she's lovely.
The only question most people would like to ask is how do you learn to live with past alleged adultery of a husband which is an issue so very many mumsnetters have to deal with. How can you continue as before? How do you rebuild trust? How does it affect the power within your relationship etc.... if the stories were true.

I would ask Sherry (can I call her Sherry?) if she could lend me a couple of grand, as my summerhouse urgently needs new bunting and gingham curtains. Thanks in advance.
