....is the question DH and I always ask each other when we don't want to something yucky. However my real question is is there any chance of a slipped disc friendly shred?

TooExtraImmatureCheddar · 12/03/2016 08:07

Martyr, I have bought and lost 2 Shred DVDs. Now I do it on YouTube - sorry, Jillian!

ThreadyPants · 12/03/2016 08:55

I'd like to ask about the DVDs. I love them (love the shred) but my knees struggle, so I end up stopping after about 10 days.

Which workout is kinder on dodgy knees, but gives awesome results?

Thanks so much.

keylimepieplease · 12/03/2016 09:11

Knee friendly with awesome results

Jaimx86 · 12/03/2016 11:18

In your book Master your Metabolism, you discuss the harm of drinking from plastic bottles. I do this daily (2 litre bottle at work and 500ml at the gym) and worry about the effect of this.

Can you recommend any 2litre alternatives? Or tell me what material I should be storing water in? There are so many metal bottles out there, I don't know where to start!

Hi Jillian, I really want to get fit and lose weight but I find it hard to get motivated and wanted your advice on what to do.

I work full time. I leave the house at 7 and come back at 7. Add to this raising a child, making meals, housework and so forth I'm simply too tired to exercise.

How can I fit exercise into my busy day and also enjoy it, as it feels like another chore.

lavenderhoney · 12/03/2016 18:57

Giliian, just to say the shred was awesome for me after the babies. Now I do t25 and insanity - and actually my question is about your hair. We have the same party hair. Spill with products:) I have no plans to marry again (!) even to a fabulous hairdresser so stay sensible.

I'm also a bit flaky and tend to try and imagine you following me about nagging but often you fall out with my guardian angel who frankly is a bit crap and only good for making sure I always get a good parking space. I think she is patsy from Ab Fab) and sometimes you give in and moan about how crap I am whilst patsy fills your glass and offers you fags:)

MrsFlorrick · 12/03/2016 20:36

Jillian!! You're fantastic!! Definitely my girl crush Smile

Your 30 day shred and six week six pack saved me.

You cannot even imagine how. I put on massive amounts of weight after having the children and I struggled with it. I struggled with everything. It was all pretty awful really.

I struggled to fit in any kind of exercise until I found your workouts (via MN of course).

They are brilliant. I have them on my iPad and iPhone. When the children were tiny I would put the tv on for them and in the same room do one of your workouts.

You helped put me back together again and I seriously love you!!

I don't have a question btw I just want to tell you that you helped to save me. Smile

TooExtraImmatureCheddar · 12/03/2016 21:01

I Shredded today!

Oh and Obs, firstly, don't be so bloody rude and secondly, Jillian is HOT. I'll have her body any day.

Twinkie1 · 12/03/2016 21:16

Hi Jillian, I think your fab and your body is amazing. Muscles are the way to go.

I just want to know what to do to get rid of a baby belly without resorting to surgery. After 3 kids I fear that's going to be the only way to get a truly flat tummy!

I've done nearly all of your DVDs and got back to having a flat tummy after my middle child but the last one I fear has meant I forever will have to tuck in my tummy each morning. Blush

Thanking you in anticipation. Xxx

whitershadeofpale · 13/03/2016 00:35

Hi Jillian,

Good to have you back Smile. I broke my foot really badly last year. I spent a week in hospital and 5 months in a cast/ airboot. It's still healing but I rally want to start getting back into shape. I can't swim due to the hours I work. Do you have any other suggestions for how to exercise without putting pressure on my foot?

Thanks

Obs2016 · 13/03/2016 06:20

Cheddar, what I said was my opinion and I'm allowed to voice that. Some people find certain men attractive and others don't. That's allowed.
I find some of the fitness instructors, particularly the women over developed, and the muscle demotion is too much for my liking. It gives and very structured and definite shape and I don't find it shapely, curvy and feminine, but more male like, like a man and I think many women who exercise need to be careful of slipping into that step too far.
So please jog on about me expressing an opinion.

StealthPolarBear · 13/03/2016 07:16

Well just done it for the first time in a week or so. It's amazing how tough it is at the beginning but gets easier so quickly, and how effective it is. This time I am going to keep it up

TooExtraImmatureCheddar · 13/03/2016 07:40

Obs, your opinion is yours to keep forever. But do you not think it's rude to say, on a thread that Jillian will read, that you think her body is too muscly and you find it unattractive? If this was your average MN thread discussing Shredding or Jillian, then I might have disagreed but I wouldn't have told you you were being rude. I think it is rude to make derogatory remarks about someone's appearance when you know they will read them.

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeG0es · 13/03/2016 08:22

Obs - I think your post is incredibly rude too.

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeG0es · 13/03/2016 08:27

Anyway, a question for Jillian. I've been aware of your DVDs for years and did try the Shred briefly, but I have prolapses and felt it was putting far too much pressure on my pelvic floor. I see this new DVD is intended for new mums and I am wondering if pelvic floor safety has specifically been considered in the making of it?

TheWildRumpyPumpus · 13/03/2016 08:54

Jillian, thanks for coming again! I found your last we chat very inspiring and love the programs.

I've had a copy of the Beginner Shred sat in my house for a couple of months untouched, I also have a gym membership that I never use. Can you give a fat girl some motivation to peel of the packaging and get going?

I've already started eating cleaner and losing weight but the exercise portion just isn't coming easily to me. I have plenty of time to exercise so no good excuse there either!

PirateSmile · 13/03/2016 09:41

I won't be able to make the web chat but I would like to ask Jillian the following question.

My problem with following an exercise programme like The Shred is that I just can't ever see myself having a good body. i am completely resigned to being a stone or two over my ideal weight. I cannot see myself as looking like a woman who is anything other than a bit 'mumsy.' This is why I find it difficult to diet and to exercise. I have felt like this for pretty much all my life. When I see women like you and the others who exercise alongside you, the idea of having a body like yours seems as unlikely to me as me landing on the moon.
Do you have any advice for me?
Thank you.

SmaDizietSma · 13/03/2016 10:01

Love Just Jillian and 30 Day Shred. Like a previous poster, getting up early to do this makes a difference to my entire day.

I'm in work tomorrow Angry so my question is about star jumps. I have to wear a bra and sports bra - is there a less bouncy alternative exercise please? Help a woman out. Flowers

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 13/03/2016 13:37

Jillian - what advice would you give me on how to start getting fit?

I am very overweight (around 20 stone) and due to this, have all sorts of issues with my joints and back, so I can't walk very far at all - even to the point of struggling with the walk from the car park to the gym.

I also suffer from depression, so find it very hard to like myself enough to want to care for myself (either by eating healthily or taking any exercise). At the moment my depression is not as bad as it has been, but I still find that voice at the back of my head telling me that, if my weight caused me to drop dead tomorrow, it wouldn't be a bad thing.

Is there anything gentle I could do at home, that would be a tiny step in the right direction - something I can realistically achieve each day that would give me a small sense of achievement on which I could build?

I don't want to be an unhappy, broken waste of space all my life.

StealthPolarBear · 13/03/2016 15:36

Of course commenting on someone's body when they're bound to read or hear it is rude. It's pretty much the definition of rude.
I find it sad that muscles and strength are considered unfeminine. Do we need to be weak and feeble in order to be considered true women? (I'm pretty weak and lacking in muscles but if I could wave a magic wand to change that I would). I'll be encouraging dd and ds to be as fit, healthy and stron as they can be throughout their lives.

StealthPolarBear · 13/03/2016 15:37

Oh sdtg just read your post in full :(
if you dropped dead tomorrow it would be awful. Mn at he very least would miss you, that's before we get started on rl.
