We're very pleased to say that Russell Brand is joining us on Wednesday 12 November between 1 and 2pm.

For those who don't know, Russell Brand is a comedian, actor and author.

His latest book, Revolution, sets out his views for political change - because, he says, "democracy has been taken away from us".

You might have caught his recent interview on Newsnight, which was widely discussed on the boards.

This is his third book, following My Booky Wook and Booky Wook 2: This Time It's Personal and has just published the first in a new series of children's books Russell Brand's Trickster Tales: The Pied Piper of Hamelin, written by Russell and illustrated by Chris Riddell.

Please do join us on Wednesday - or if you can't, feel free to post questions in advance, here.

(Reminder that we only allow one question and one follow-up per user, so make sure to use yours wisely Smile)

Hello Russell,

i believe that this is a good opportunity to tell the people about the school system and that government uses schools to educate every single individual so that everybody is in one and the same mindset… no more individuals… just a mass of half-sleeping somethings made to follow!!! :( the parents should raise and teach their children! not the government!!

lots of love to everybody

longjane · 12/11/2014 10:49

Dear Russell
Would you be be come an MP . And if so who you stand against .

Lots of new members on this thread!
MNHQ must be delighted. Good news for their advertisers!
Gotta love the way capitalism appropriates revolutionary politics.

Russell, why have you not had Noel Fielding on the Trews yet? Is there any chance of Noel being on the Trews?

timef0rchange · 12/11/2014 10:50

Russell,

Here are some other links to information regarding my question.

I was wondering if you had any further remarks regarding the venus project or the Zeitgeist Movement. Also i left a few links covering some of the basics of what these groups or projects are about.

Ooh Noel Fielding.

SarahV100 · 12/11/2014 10:54

Hi Russell, Massive fan of you and The Trews. One thing I have been wondering for a while though.... Why do you ignore the Green Party? I have heard you say that you would vote if there was someone worth voting for. I may be wrong but don't they share nearly all your views? I know it's a long shot getting them into power but probably no harder than starting a revolution. You could really help them and beat the other parties at their own game x

ElonerRigby · 12/11/2014 10:56

Hello ?? I would like to know if you ever saw Wendy again or know what happened to her after she was on RE Brand. " My old Tart" & What do you reckon about Councils Cutting Meals on Wheels for the elderly? Paying into a system years & that system not being gracious enough to look after you at the end of that transaction... I know what I think but I Would love to hear your thoughts. Lots of Love Xxxx E

JocelynIsAwesome · 12/11/2014 10:57

Hi Russell,

I think what you are doing by trying to get people thinking for themselves and taking notice of the political world around them is fantastic.

I would love your take on what you think of countries which offer a more left-wing way of life. For example, Scandinavian coutries. Are their citizens lives better than that of right-wing countries such as America, do you think moving further to the left and using these countriesas models, would be a good place to start making changes, in a way that would be less dramatic and perhaps offensive to the sceptics out there that aren't ready for the full blown revolution you speak of?

Beau65 · 12/11/2014 10:59

Russell, friend.

Thanks, for waking up my mind. Next step? How can I persuade everyone else to open their eyes ???

(I think my mind was stirring, you just gave it that final shove)

Hello Russell my Man. Do you find it easy being a vegetarian? Also, what goes into the green health drink I often see you slurp? Have a great Christmas. Peace and Love, Jx

KatherinaMinola · 12/11/2014 11:04

Oh wow, I just got deleted. MNHQ, how about addressing the very real concerns that many of us have about you inviting this person onto Mumsnet (and plastering his image all over the home page)?

Does his record of serious (and illegal) misogynistic acts and not bother you at all?

How do you square this with your commitment to family friendly workplaces, for example? (We all know the story of RB bullying a wardrobe assistant into stripping for him, don't we?)

Or have I just lost my sense of humour Hmm

kasia3 · 12/11/2014 11:06

Trully impressed by the recovery. Wishing it would stay that way.

Taniel · 12/11/2014 11:08

Have you heard anything about Estonia's singing revolution? It was a type of a peaceful protest that my parents generation did when the soviet union collapsed

NatashaMistry · 12/11/2014 11:10

Hi Russell,

Our educational systems and our society has conditioned us to live "in the mind. The mind thinks in duality, and can be easily manipulated. I guess it acts like a radio antenna that picks up on all the frequencies out there, and we are bombarded! I know that meditation can filter out these frequencies and bring us back to ourselves - but how do we get people back to living "in the heart." The heart thinks in unity, is the most intelligent organ in the body and emits the frequency of love - which is all there really is.

choccyp1g · 12/11/2014 11:12

Have you considered joining the SWP ?

Jophipps1 · 12/11/2014 11:13

Hi Russell,
I love the Trews and think you have a lot to say. My question is, if there is revolution of true democracy how do we stop greed and power going to people's heads and keep it so the system works for all??

ceciliawootz · 12/11/2014 11:14

Hi Russell, I do believe we can and will change this destructive system of ours and that you are spot on about the ways to do it. I do however struggle sometimes to keep faith in our ability to bring about change. Do you ever feel doubt and how do you cope with it? Thank you for speaking your truth, Namaste, Cecilia

KatherinaMinola · 12/11/2014 11:16

Very good, choccyp1g

OTheHugeManatee · 12/11/2014 11:17

Hi Russell

My question is: how do you like being a perfect example of the way left-wing movements are consistently let down by their exponents' nasty misogyny?

Sparklingbrook · 12/11/2014 11:17

Poor Russell he's only got an hour to read and reply to all these questions.

zerotolerancezone · 12/11/2014 11:20

Hi Russell. What's your favourite restaurant in London? Are you a foodie?

Ledkr · 12/11/2014 11:22

I have never voted, not because of the Che Guevara in me, which remains repressed, but because I can't be arsed; politics is boring, politicians are false, and the raucous rosy cheeked charade played out in the House of Commons leaves a bad taste ..if the current big parties don't offer anything that could make society fairer or to improve impending ecological doom then wouldn't it better to vote Green or make a protest vote because not voting may just be chalked down to apathy (like mine) and no one will ever be able to gauge the rejection of money making rules all politics.
