We're very pleased to say that Russell Brand is joining us on Wednesday 12 November between 1 and 2pm.

For those who don't know, Russell Brand is a comedian, actor and author.

His latest book, Revolution, sets out his views for political change - because, he says, "democracy has been taken away from us".

You might have caught his recent interview on Newsnight, which was widely discussed on the boards.

This is his third book, following My Booky Wook and Booky Wook 2: This Time It's Personal and has just published the first in a new series of children's books Russell Brand's Trickster Tales: The Pied Piper of Hamelin, written by Russell and illustrated by Chris Riddell.

Please do join us on Wednesday - or if you can't, feel free to post questions in advance, here.

(Reminder that we only allow one question and one follow-up per user, so make sure to use yours wisely Smile)

Why are you giving him the oxygen of publicity?

Oh my word. All my birthdays have come at once.'Citing!

SagaNorensLeatherTrousers · 10/11/2014 15:58

Hi Russell,

How would you respond to criticism that you're just a tool Grin the current government is using to engage non-voters and take the limelight off UKIP? I've heard it been said you're a walking, talking distraction device.

Hullygully · 10/11/2014 16:05

I think you're great. My friend has a son who is the DEAD SPIT of you, so if you need a double to lure the raincoats away, tip me the wink.

PeteCampbellsRecedingHairline · 10/11/2014 16:06

Oooh. Looking forward to this.

PetiteRaleuse · 10/11/2014 16:07

I agree with quite a lot of what you say, and really respect you for giving up drinking and drugs (and love what you have written and said on this topic).

However, I don't understand why you have told people that they shouldn't vote. Voting is a democratic right that was fought for over centuries, and a privelige.

Can you explain why you say that not voting is an effective form of protest?

Hullygully · 10/11/2014 16:07

Oh, I forgot my question. Who goes up against the wall first? In a being taken out and shot sense, you understand.

JazzAnnNonMouse · 10/11/2014 16:11

Hi Russel,
I really enjoy your trews and stance on most things (particularly the Venus project etc) but lets be honest here; the capitalist society we live in has been good financially for you - I was wondering what you plan to do with your millions?

Hullygully · 10/11/2014 16:13

That is a zeugma. Good show.

A question/request - please stop telling people not to vote. No it's not perfect but I'd rather not have a UKIP MP and that's exactly what will happen here if all the fed-up people don't bother voting.

Hullygully · 10/11/2014 16:17

In the light of the last few posts, do you find that being a sex object detracts from your political mission?

Goodness, that is terribly strict. That being the case, please ignore the first question, Mr Brand, as I think the second more interesting. Thank you so much.

DreamsOfFreddieInTheNight · 10/11/2014 16:27

Russell, do you feel that it's hard to get your message across because people focus on how you look rather that what you say?

LadyHattOfSodor · 10/11/2014 16:29

Hi I am 6 years clean and find your recovery inspiring. Would you like to do a share at my NA homegroup on a Tuesday Night in Barnstaple? In Love and Fellowship.

I know - soz - but I've a feeling this one's going to be busy...

Political parties don't listen to people or causes that won't win them votes, so saying 'don't vote' is giving politicians to ignore the will of those people.

If your target audience is young people (which I assume it is) they will continue to get shafted by the main parties, surely?

Also. Parklife.

Webchat questions usually come easily to me, this time I'm a little distracted Blush.

Themonopolydog · 10/11/2014 16:56

Ignores dirty thoughts
First of all I just wanted to say that as a daughter of an addict I find your recovery and the work you do for addicts inspiring.
Secondly, you tell people not to vote as a form of protest, however what do you actually hope to achieve by people not voting?

Hullygully · 10/11/2014 16:59

This is a question, but of others on the thread. Didn't he say somewhere that he had reviewed the don't vote thing and on second thoughts etc?

ExitPursuedByABear · 10/11/2014 17:00

I think he did backtrack on that one..............
