Hello all,
Piers Morgan, former Editor of the Daily Mirror and News of the World, and now Executive Editor of First News, a weekly newspaper aimed at 9-12 year olds, is coming to Mumsnet for an online chat on Tuesday 10th October at 12.30pm. So make sure you make a note in your diary to log on and post a question. If you can't make the actual event do post your question in advance here. Whilst he can't promise to answer every one he'll do what he can (and we reckon he should be able to type quite fast being a journo and all that).
Best,
MNHQ

oh very good dodgy wizard!

slug · 10/10/2006 13:18

Oooh, avoiding the issue Piers. What are these girls stories then? Ponies and lipstick? Girls like pretty drsses so here are some for you to look at? A problem page that advises girls (in picture form, wearing underwear) not to let boys think you are brighter than them because they don't like it then they won't go out with you and everyone will think you're a lesbian?

Is your editorial policy about the portrayal of women any different in your childrens' paper than in your adult paper? If not, how can you justify that?

ElleMacpherson · 10/10/2006 13:18

Mr Morgan, do any your kids drink Fruit Shoots ever? And have you ever fed them grapes from the trolly as you walked round Asda? (Or similar.. Waitrose I imagine.. )

And I like Cherie. I met her and she was lovely.

hunkermunster · 10/10/2006 13:19

Nothing fluffy about hair slides, MP?

JessaJackOLantern · 10/10/2006 13:19

moaningpaper · 10/10/2006 13:19

Mellowmonsta DO keep up.

Read his Wikipedia entry

TutterIckOrTreat · 10/10/2006 13:19

i have a feeling that "girl-related issues" will be a MN fave phrase for some time to come...

Greensleeves · 10/10/2006 13:20

Are we a "girl-related issue" Piers?

GhoulsToo · 10/10/2006 13:20

Piers - did you know we had a media celeb amongst our number.

Her headline hit more newspapers and news programmes than probably any of your ever did I'll warrant!

moaningpaper · 10/10/2006 13:20

is this a "girl-related" website?

we DO talk about menstruation a lot

PiersMorgan · 10/10/2006 13:20

Dear Enid,

First News is the only proper kids paper out there, and we are very confident that it will grow and grow into a major publishing force in this country. Everyone who sees it loves it.

hunkermunster · 10/10/2006 13:20

[made of sugar and spice]

[lying through teeth]

MellowMonsta · 10/10/2006 13:21

Gosh You have been busy since I used to watch you on This Morning. Thanks mp

bundle · 10/10/2006 13:21

Piers, one of the other former hostages, John McCarthy said that listening to programmes on the BBC World Service (former Outlook presenter, Barbara Myers, had a special mention ) helped to keep him sane and alive when he was chained to a radiator.

Who would you like to inspire you on the radio if you were similarly trapped?

hunkermunster · 10/10/2006 13:21

Would you ever strap a baby to a rocket and fire it into Lebanon?

Greensleeves · 10/10/2006 13:21

What's your take on female circumcision, Piers?

TwigTwoolett · 10/10/2006 13:21

oh ROFLMAO ledodgywizardrobespierre .. yes Piers see the penguin, feel the penguin, BE the penguin

JessaJackOLantern · 10/10/2006 13:21

Do the "girl-related" issues feature on a page with pink edges? Boys could be camoflage (urban or desert).

earlgrey · 10/10/2006 13:22

I'm going to get my headteacher's hat on (not, of course, that I am one).

How can you justify what was in the Telegraph the other day? Do you really believe it's OK to feed junk food through school gates?

NOMurDErousPLUME · 10/10/2006 13:22

"Everyone who sees it, loves it"

Is this not a tiny sweeping generalisation, Piers ?!

SherlockLGJ · 10/10/2006 13:22

Piers

Now the question is...........could you spot a mooncup at 40 paces or is it too "girl-related" for you ???
