Live webchat with Holly Willoughby and her sister Kelly, Wednesday 19 June, 2-3pm

RachelMumsnet · 17/06/2013 08:57

Holly Willoughby and sister Kelly are joining us for a webchat on Wednesday 19th June at 2-3pm. Holly and Kelly always dreamt of writing a story together since their childhood when they would make up stories and dress up and perform for their parents. Their dream has come true as their first book School for Stars: First Term at L'etoile is being published on 20th June. Set in a performing arts boarding school, the story is a perfect mix ofGlee and X Factor but with all the classic charm of Ballet Shoes and Malory Towers; full of midnight feasts, makeovers, dares, drama and dance.

Holly is best known for presenting ITV1's flagship daytime programme This Morning as well as prime-time shows Surprise Surprise and The Voice. She won a Children's BAFTA award for best presenter in 2006. Kelly has always dreamt of being an author and is delighted to be realising her dream with her sister.

Come and chat to Holly and Kelly on Weds 19th at 2pm, but if you're unable to join us at that time, post your question in advance to this thread.

Holly and Kelly will also be signing copies of their new book after school next Thursday 20th June at 4.15pm in Harrods Toy Kingdom. Find out more.

Who actually writes the l'etoile books? Which of you is the better writer?

Bonsoir · 19/06/2013 07:47

scottishmummy - you don't want aging female presenters like in France. The older generation needs to make way for the new.

Spottybanana I thought you were rude but EliotNess really pushes it Hmm.

Lovely interview in the You magazine this week. I could answer most questions Grin.

spottybanana · 19/06/2013 07:59

Quite, EliotNess - still, I'm sure that the 'authors' can just concentrate on the first few comments posted here and then the suspicious other soft lobs that will come their way when they arrive Wink.

spottybanana · 19/06/2013 08:03

MissStrawberry - that's funny, because, at first I thought you were going to do a windup with your comments (daughter reads 10 books a weekend but she'll love these ha ha ha), thanking the 'normal and friendly' Holly for writing the books, detailed questions pretending you're interested in whatever guff the ghost writer has come up with while tearing their hair out . . . but are you actually a real person?

Maybe you could ask the normal and friendly Holly about her frocks?

YoungBritishPissArtist · 19/06/2013 08:42

RachelMumsnet Can you please change the thread title? Kelly's name in brackets is disrespectful.

NotAQueef · 19/06/2013 08:45

Shock just Shock at how some people crawl out of the woodwork with their thinly veiled attempts at rudeness "hard-hitting questions"!

DeskPlanner · 19/06/2013 08:58

MNHQ, please don't put Kelly's name in brackets, it makes her look less important. Its just rude and they wrote the book together. Please amend before she sees it.

spottybanana · 19/06/2013 09:01

She is less important! They only got the deal on the basis of HW's profile - why not argue for the ghost's name to be there if you're that bothered about attributing credit?

LineRunner · 19/06/2013 09:03

Dear Kelly and Holly,
What do think about recent proposals for a Financial Transaction Tax?

landofsoapandglory · 19/06/2013 09:10

Did some of you mean to be so rude?

ShadeofViolet · 19/06/2013 09:41

I wonder if they will actually do the web chat.

spottybanana · 19/06/2013 09:45

Well, they don't need to for sales - it's already number ten on the children's fiction list and it hasn't even been released yet Sad

AmyFarrahFowlerCooper · 19/06/2013 09:49

Have people dropped out of webchats before once the questions have started being posted?

ShadeofViolet · 19/06/2013 09:51

Actually I did feel a bit mean writing my question up thread, which was echoed by JustGiveMeFiveMinutes

However reading the books listing on amazon, it says that ''Holly is a celebrity who is also a role model.''

A role model to who?

ShadeofViolet · 19/06/2013 09:51

Sharon Sheherazade did.

spottybanana · 19/06/2013 09:56

You shouldn't feel mean at all, it's a very valid questionShade.

There will be those who say that kids shouldn't be watching CJ anyway, but those boundaries simply don't exist for many - Keith Lemon was on 'Let's Dance for Comic Relief' quite a few times, which makes children wonder who he is, they see pix of him and Holly, and the lines are blurred. I would also be very interested to see her address this topic - if she is presenting herself as a role model to the age group who will be drawn to this type of book, questions should be asked.

For those who say that even raising these points is rude or disrespectful, aren't you the ones assuming that HW won't be able to tackle them?

EliotNess · 19/06/2013 10:02

I would like the pair of them to publicly deny they used a ghost.

LaRegina · 19/06/2013 10:05

Just - maybe children who have read the books wouldn't be allowed to watch CJ because it's on way after they've gone to bed; them being children and everything Hmm

But anyway! Holly and Kelly - welcome to the nest of vipers! Grin

My Q to Holly is - just how sick do you get of some women assuming you've only got where you have in life because you're obviously attractive, and not because of your (IMO quite clear) talent for the job you do? Smile

Happens to me all the time BTW Grin

spottybanana · 19/06/2013 10:05

They could deny it though Eliot - sometimes the editorial team just do it without hiring a ghost specifically, especially for something as bog standard as this where it will just get done by someone on staff Sad

LaRegina · 19/06/2013 10:06

Yes Eliot, preferably whilst in the stocks I suppose? Hmm

ParadiseChick · 19/06/2013 10:13

Holly, any signs of you maintaining some credibility and distancing yourself from the awful Celebrity Juice? Sometimes I enjoy this you present and you're lovely then I remember you are also on this terrible show.

LineRunner · 19/06/2013 10:24

They are businesswomen. Why not ask them how they feel about a Financial Transaction Tax?

Bob Geldof is one of the people proposing it. I'm fairly sure HW has met him.

JustGiveMeFiveMinutes · 19/06/2013 10:28

Le Regina

What about the children who google HW and watch the CJ Youtube clip? Then there's Sky plus, iplayer, etc. Not to mention the children who have tvs in their bedrooms and whose parents may not realise what they're watching.
