I’ve name changed for this. I am due in hospital tomorrow for a colposcopy because of periods being all over the place. Just decided to do a pregnancy test just to be on the safe side.
DH and I were told earlier this year it was very unlikely we could conceive due to my age and low AMH levels.

Was not expecting this. I’m not going nuts am I? Is this positive? Is there any way it could be wrong?

DH is at work & I can’t talk to him for a couple of hours. Am shaking.

Is this positive?!

I just came back to reread this thread because it has made us all so happy! Such wonderful news! Just remember the older you are the more likely you may release more than one egg! Grin

Just in case it helps anyone or at least gives hope, I’ve dug out the letter the NHS fertility clinic sent to us and our doctor back in June after our consultation.

It actually says “I have discussed with the couple the rationale for ovarian reserve testing and the role of AMH and antral follicle count.
The couple understand AMH is poorly reflective of one’s ability to conceive naturally.
Unfortunately we cannot offer them any treatment, NHS or self funded with an AMH level of under 3 pmol-L”

My AMH was 2.1.
They said it was very unlikely we would naturally get pregnant, although he did say “there is always a chance” Smile
That clinic would not even take our money to try IVF with such low chances of success.
We were advised to find an IVF clinic that focused on older mothers and or low AMH.

This suprises me. Most clinics will try with that reading. You had low

That’s why people have ivf

But You beat the odds naturally

You HAVE to have an early scan for all us mn aunties 😂😂

@Blondeshavemorefun I was a bit shocked that we weren't entitled to even the one go at NHS IVF. I'd naively assumed we would probably get that. To also be told they wouldn't take us on privately we figured there was barely any point in trying IVF.
It's a London hospital IVF clinic which does NHS and private patients. Maybe they have particularly strict guidelines to try to preserve success stats or something?

To be honest we didn't look into other IVF clinics in much detail.
We have had quite a few friends go through countless rounds of IVF. I've seen them put their lives on hold for months and then years. It's affected their physical and mental health and their marriages in some cases.
One of my friends (who is much richer than us!) did IVF on and off for six years and racked up about 100k in bills before managing to have a child. Ultimately we decided that it wasn't for us. I wouldn't change that decision, but I guess it's easy to say that now.

DH is happy for me to make a decision on an early scan. I may do one before Christmas.

I'm so excited and happy for you OP. What an amazing thing to happen! Flowers Smile

Blondeshavemorefun · 03/12/2021 11:30

Different area say diff things some over 40 won’t have nhs ivf

But unusual to not take you on privately

Took 5 private ivf to get our one bfp - she is now 4.5. Our miracle

Def book a scan !!

Lavender24 · 03/12/2021 11:37

Congrats and don't worry about the alcohol. I drank loads over the Christmas before I found out I was pregnant with DD at four and a half weeks and she was fine. I just stopped as as soon as I found out Smile
