My child has a badge that sees ghosts?

Lighthearted!

DS 4, has a badge he calls “birdie friend.” I may post a photo later! It’s a badge with a bird on.

Birdie Friend seems to have the gift of the “sight!” “Birdie Friend says Bob and Rose are here mummy, they like to have tea with us. Bob and Rose are DH’s grandparents who died many years ago.

“Birdie Friend says the men who lived upstairs looked like you mummy when their faces burned off.” We used to live in a former military hospital and I had a sheet mash on my face! The ward upstairs had indeed been a burns/plastics ward!

“Mummy, Birdie Friend says the end is coming soon.”

😂😱😨

TBH, I feel like I'm reading a different thread to everyone else, because it's really not that creepy.

Dollars to doughnuts, he's far more perceptive than anyone gave him credit for, and he is hearing fragments of adult conversation and putting them together.

He feels more comfortable expressing some thoughts through an intermediary, because if it turns out that it was the wrong thing to say, it wasn't him who said it. Equally he thinks that if he asks for something he wants through Birdie Friend, he's got two votes in: him and Birdie Friend. Grin

It's all very normal and he sounds amazing.

TheSheepofWallSt · 18/01/2020 20:46

I wouldn’t worry.

Anything short of full demonic possession is probably something you can tell yourself is “typical toddler bollox” and easily forgotten with enough wine.

I’d only worry if he started speaking tongues tbh

MaButterface · 18/01/2020 20:50

I want details on "messy" as well please, and your DS sounds mischiveously cool!

Southmouth · 18/01/2020 20:55

Why do I read these things at night when I’m on my own! That badge would be long gone in my house Grin

PlomBear · 18/01/2020 21:11

Can anybody “feel” anything from the photos of Birdie Friend?

I feel quite attached to him now!

“I feel quite attached to him now!“

He’s got you too 😱😨

ironicname · 18/01/2020 21:26

DD is always talking about her old family, but the details change so it's not creepy.

ShoesandmoreShoes · 18/01/2020 21:35

DS told me Birdie Friend wanted to snuggle me when he went to bed. So I’m currently sitting here watching television with a badge...

Oh Crickey! He knows you've started a post about him and is keeping a close eye on you now!! Be afraid OP. Be very afraid.

If you look really really closely you can just make out the beast of the apocolypes in the small of his left eye. Other than that, no it just looks like a bird and his friends on a badge.

When DD was young we inherited exH's grandmother's house. We lived there for a while while we were renovating it to sell. DD would often babble about 'nana on the ceiling'.

Nana on the ceiling told DD stories, sang to her and made her feel better when she was sad. She would sing us songs that nana on the ceiling sang and tell us stories about when nana on the ceiling was a little girl. Nana on the ceiling was sad that we were selling the house. EX H started questioning whether he should keep it or sell it at a massive discount to a family member so he didn't upset his nana.

My sister asked DD to show her where nana on the ceiling. She sagely led her to her bedroom and pointed to....

A Hannah Montana sticker above her bed Grin

I am non-woo but do find all this stuff fascinating.
I’m visiting Zak Bagans museum in Vegas this August .
Maybe if there’s some staff around I can chat to I’ll ask them about this ,the museum is full off “haunted objects”

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 18/01/2020 22:19

I am a bit woo, and am very intrigued by Birdie Friend.

TooManyPaws · 18/01/2020 22:42

The Haunted Barracks thread on ARRSE is also pretty scary - lots of stories about barracks and MQs at Dachau amongst them.

BunnytheBlueWhale · 18/01/2020 22:46

I think I’m a bit woo too. Not a lot, I’m b level headed for the most part, but I have had some experiences...

NewMe2020 · 18/01/2020 23:09

@PlomBear your son doesn't have a tricycle he rides around the house on does he?

KatyCarrCan · 18/01/2020 23:27

@FAQs I have a funny feeling I shouldn't watch it on my own at night Grin but I'll try it tomorrow.

Scatterlit · 18/01/2020 23:48

This one’s really not going to transfer well to Hollywood, OP. Haunted houses, possessed dolls, cursed clocks — fine. But a scary, Welsh-speaking entity that resides in a demonic youth hostel badge? 👎

Glitterblue · 18/01/2020 23:49

DD used to talk quite matter of factly about "the first time she was born" and a lot of other very creepy things that are too outing to share!

BunnytheBlueWhale · 18/01/2020 23:51

My brother used to say “I want to go home” when he was quite young. Sometimes he’d cry and sob saying it. This was when he was home with me and my parents. We always thought it was odd.

TheFormidableMrsC · 19/01/2020 00:19

I can’t find the post to tag the writer, but it was about hearing voices that stopped when they realised they could be heard. I had a very disturbing experience staying at a large house that had been used as a field hospital during the WWII. I saw a ghost, a man, who rushed through the room but saw me and realised I could see him and was absolutely startled, he looked horrified that I could actually see him and carried on through a dresser and disappeared. It was a very frightening experience and one of many that the occupier had had. I am quite receptive and have had a lot of odd experiences since early childhood.

OP, I think I would leave your DS be with this. It will stop eventually. However, I do understand it’s disturbing 😬

BunnytheBlueWhale · 19/01/2020 00:23

That’s very spooky @TheFormidableMrsC

I don’t know why I read these threads at night. I’m waiting in the bedroom for DH to come to bed and had to switch the lamp on 🙈

mokapot · 19/01/2020 00:25

Does birdie-friend know the numbers to the lotto for this week?

mokapot · 19/01/2020 00:28

#findyourepicdemon is what that hashtag should be

TheFormidableMrsC · 19/01/2020 00:28

@BunnytheBlueWhale Sorry! I am not usually frightened at all but that was definitely a bit different because of the ‘interaction’ for want of a better description. I don’t think for a moment there was any harm, it was just startling. Don’t be afraid, I believe there are lots of things we can’t explain but also suspect time slips or something like that are often responsible for such things.

PixieDustt · 19/01/2020 00:35

Omg that badge needs a blessing or to be burnt before it burns down your house 🥴
