My child has a badge that sees ghosts?

Lighthearted!

DS 4, has a badge he calls “birdie friend.” I may post a photo later! It’s a badge with a bird on.

Birdie Friend seems to have the gift of the “sight!” “Birdie Friend says Bob and Rose are here mummy, they like to have tea with us. Bob and Rose are DH’s grandparents who died many years ago.

“Birdie Friend says the men who lived upstairs looked like you mummy when their faces burned off.” We used to live in a former military hospital and I had a sheet mash on my face! The ward upstairs had indeed been a burns/plastics ward!

“Mummy, Birdie Friend says the end is coming soon.”

😂😱😨

The Queen

My dd was 3 when she said 'I was following you around for ages mummy waiting to be in your tummy'

DD took 4 yrs to conceive.
She didn't know this.

This level of imaginative play is quite normal in 4 year olds

said Ted Bundy's mum.

@thesunwillout

It's creepy isn't it lol but really nice!

I'd like to think she picked me Grin

Oh, and after being told he couldn’t have a toy car when shopping DS we called into a hospital and ds sat with a young staff member while I did what I had to do. When we left he told me he knew the lottery numbers so could he have the car please. Apparently an old woman had told him at the hospital. No one else had been in the room and the lottery wasn’t discussed (I checked later!) Unfortunately he only knew 3 numbers as that’s all she’d said, but I bought a ticket on the off chance and won enough for the car plus one for his brother.

@TheFormidableMrsC would be interesting to find out if there’s any record of ghost sightings in the building from WWII, someone’s letters or diary or something, no idea how you’d find out though! Just thinking how strange a woman in modern clothes/hairstyle/etc would look to someone then

PlomBear · 19/01/2020 10:46

Maybe I’ll take BF to mass?

Everything feels a lot calmer with no BF here, a few hours of peace and quiet.

None of this is frightening me apart from the “end” which is definitely giving me the heebeegeebees.
I once asked a tiny dd2 where she was before she was in my tummy, (after reading something about a small boy who talked about a past life). She thought for a minute and said “ i was in a bed” but that was all.

BemidjiMinnesota · 19/01/2020 10:59

Please take Birdie Friend for a bath in the nearest holy water font. Shock

SirVixofVixHall · 19/01/2020 11:00

I thought time slip with Formidable too. You sound both equally startled to have seen each other.
Anyone read The Victorian Chaise-Longue ?

Heismyopendoor · 19/01/2020 11:10

The ad whilst I was reading this thread 😂

OP, I agree about getting someone in. It doesn’t sound to me like innocent child imagination. Personally I do believe in ghosts, but I don’t believe they are good. Any of them.

Wow, this quickly escalated to an exorcism!!! Well done mnetters

PlomBear · 19/01/2020 11:28

Heard a bang from downstairs, a picture on the wall has just fallen off! I’m sure it’s a coincidence.

I'm imagining BF disappearing in a vile green FIZZ accompanied by a slowly fading scream.

SirVixofVixHall · 19/01/2020 11:43

Unless it has tiny beak marks...

FizzyIce · 19/01/2020 11:47

@SirVixofVixHall my dd always says she was living with Father Christmas before she chose us as her parents .

MaisWeee · 19/01/2020 11:48

BF doesn't relish the prospect of being dunked in holy water I suspect.

MaisWeee · 19/01/2020 11:49

He must have heard you discussing the Messiah or something.

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 19/01/2020 11:53

I have had quite a lot to do with this sort of thing one way and another, and I would be interested to know: has anyone on this thread got any actual, first-hand experience of something Other (ghost, elemental, haunting of any kind) which did any person or animal any actual physical harm, as opposed to frightening them?

I ask because I have never come across anything of the kind in fifty+ years. There was a ghost who opened a door in the wrong direction, breaking off the hinges, at a cousin of mine -- but she was not hit by the door, just inconvenienced by having to get it fixed; poltergeist phenomena have always thrown things about without hitting anyone who was present; noises that keep you awake might I suppose make you end up so tired that you fell asleep at the wheel or something but I have never come across a case of that happening; and so on.

So do these manifestations ever do anything physical? Outside of the movies?

PlomBear · 19/01/2020 11:56

I do have a theory that the more you read about the supernatural, the more something in you opens to ghosts/spirits etc. Or perhaps one comes more suggestible to the idea.

Surely if ghosts are real, the technology and dress has to update. Where are the ghosts of flappers, girls in miniskirts, and teddy boys?

Are future generations going to see the ghosts of MNers reading MN on their phones?

HoneysuckleSpeck · 19/01/2020 12:05

It’s obvious he’s overheard some bits of The Messiah.

Turn your TV down or he could end up being very frightened.

PlomBear · 19/01/2020 12:07

I don’t think he can have overheard. It’s a large house and I can’t hear the television in our bedroom which is above the living room. His bedroom is the other side of the house.

Aw, @OvenGlovesWillTearUsApart, if only your spelling was as fab as your humour. stake

OP this is wonderful. Your DS sounds like a treasure.

PlomBear · 19/01/2020 12:11

DH has Whatsapped me. DS has been cuddling SiLs dog very lovingly and saying “Me and Birdie Friend love you, you’ll feel better soon when you go bye bye to Devon, you’ll be ended soon.”

SiS told DH after that DDog is actually very poorly with cancer and not expected to live very long...
