Aibu over lady using my parking spaces.

We live in a housing estate and each house or flat has one or two spaces allocated to them. Most of the spaces are directly outside our houses except a few that are round the side that have garages. The spaces aren't numbered but everyone seems to know who's is whose. There's a new neighbour that has moved in next door to me (a corner house) and has a garage parking space round the back of her house, however she uses both my spaces as she parks in the middle of them. It's quite annoying when there's nowhere else to park as you have to park further down the road.

I went over today and introduced myself and poilitley told her the spaces were mine and hers was round the back but she was welcome to use our other space when we don't have guests but could she park to one side so I can fit my car next to hers. She looked at me with a blank expression, said no and shut the door on me! What do I do now!? I just stood there for a moment open mouthed and then went home.

Now I'm not sure if she has mobility problems as she's not exactly nimble anymore (about 65) but I am shocked at her one word reply!

Gutted we haven't got an update before bed! have been surreptitiously checking my phone all day! Grin

op keep those curtains twitching

balletgirlmum · 18/02/2015 22:23

Ok a sort of semi serious suggestion now OP.

Is there anywhere that you can put up a sign.

We had problems at work when we moved into new premises. The building had been empty & people from the adjoining businesses had been parking on my works property both on the actual car park & the driveway which looks more like a turning area.

One ladyfrom the shop next door had been told by her landlord that she had two allocated spaces in our turning area (confirmed with solicitors no such agreement had ever been in place & land registry showed the land as our companies.

Anyway we looked into things & it turned out that if you put the proper signs up with the correct legal wording & took photos of offending cars a parking management company would send out fine notices a bit like parking eye).

MrsReiver · 18/02/2015 22:59

SirChenjin if it turns out all of this is going down in the Central Belt you need to pick me up on your way to the parking stake-out. We can pop into The Big Asda for pom bears and savoury mini eggs and I have nearly all of my data allowance for the month left on my mobile.

I live on a tiny street, dead end with a wall opposite the line of houses.one space per house. A neighbour agreed to let his ndn park his wife's car on his drive instead of against the wall while he worked away for 3 months. Mutually beneficial for them. However 2 years later and this car hasn't moved once and the man now has 4 cars. Neighbour kept putting off asking him to move it and now doesn't dare. it would be funny if it wasn't so annoying.

Morning fellow car parking watchers. Anyone else having mn problems. I kept getting an error message. Ok op WAKE UP. Morning. (Passes op a cup of tea). Whats the car situation like. You not working today are you?

takeitonthegin · 19/02/2015 07:32

It's taken me ages to get back on this thread. Getting error messages, it was a real state of emergency. I was about to start a thread about this thread just so I could be updated. Grin

Today will be the day that there will be a resolution or a showdown. I can feel it in my bones.

Thumbwitch · 19/02/2015 07:36

I was under the impression that the 2 parking spaces are surrounded by kerb and grass/pavement, as that's how I've seen them in newer estates - so both NAR and FONAR's cars would be partly in the parking space and partly on the verge.

I do like the treacle idea. But she might be too clever for that and put down a plastic bag or something :(

OP I think you should phone the management people again...

youarekiddingme · 19/02/2015 07:49

I imagined the same set up thumb purely because on my estate there are numbered spaces and some houses don't have numbered spaces but we know who they belong too because they don't have numbered elsewhere iyswim?! But there is road parking too. There are also people that have garage spaces and some spaces marked V for visitors.
On my 'driveway' for my flat of 4 flats there's 4 spaces. Only 2 of us have cars and people have cottoned onto this and started parking on my NDN space. It's very annoying, I don't think he cares, but it's where my visitors park (which my NDN agreed to!).

bubalou · 19/02/2015 07:51

Place marking Smile

Have been reading thread but MN is playing up and it's taking me ages.

I can't see an update from after OP going out and the windscreen letter from neighbour not stopping the old bag! Shock

SirChenjin · 19/02/2015 07:57

Mrsreiver - it's a deal. Not only that, but I have unlimited texts and phone calls on my mobile so we are good to go. Would we have time for a quick look round George?

Roussette · 19/02/2015 08:02

MN playing up for me too, keep posting twice! (And can't keep my mind off treacle tart because someone has mentioned treacle, and that really isn't in the spirit of the thread. I should be focussed on parking and NAR and FONAR and the other bloke whose name I can't remember!)

MrsReiver · 19/02/2015 08:17

There's always time for a look in George!

TheDailyWail · 19/02/2015 08:57

I love this thread!

FrancesNiadova · 19/02/2015 09:08

Any NEEEEWWWWWS! (Bouncing up & down in excitement!)

bubalou · 19/02/2015 09:11

Haha.

What I wouldn't give to have a live video feed of that car park and it's going ons.

OP you could make a fortune! Charge everyone £1 a day to watch. Wink

Rosieliveson · 19/02/2015 09:11

First thing I do once baby and I are up and dressed?
Check for updates Grin

APotNoodleandaTommy · 19/02/2015 09:14

Devastated that there's no update! I can't believe I've been sucked into a parking thread
Wake up, OP!

DidoTheDodo · 19/02/2015 09:20

I am now imagining the major players on this thread wearing black or white cowboy outfits in the style of old Westerns, so we can see at a glance who is a goodie or a baddie.

(They may have actually bought them from George)

Momagain1 · 19/02/2015 09:40

I would definitely watch this, I was one of those who pointlessly watched the Abbey Road crossing camera for days. I need a life.

BeansMrSeanAndHeinz · 19/02/2015 09:41

Yes dido exactly! Do George do cowboy hats then? I hope so

nilbyname · 19/02/2015 09:47

Come on!

I feel like a kid at school about to chant- fight fight fight!
