Aibu over lady using my parking spaces.

We live in a housing estate and each house or flat has one or two spaces allocated to them. Most of the spaces are directly outside our houses except a few that are round the side that have garages. The spaces aren't numbered but everyone seems to know who's is whose. There's a new neighbour that has moved in next door to me (a corner house) and has a garage parking space round the back of her house, however she uses both my spaces as she parks in the middle of them. It's quite annoying when there's nowhere else to park as you have to park further down the road.

I went over today and introduced myself and poilitley told her the spaces were mine and hers was round the back but she was welcome to use our other space when we don't have guests but could she park to one side so I can fit my car next to hers. She looked at me with a blank expression, said no and shut the door on me! What do I do now!? I just stood there for a moment open mouthed and then went home.

Now I'm not sure if she has mobility problems as she's not exactly nimble anymore (about 65) but I am shocked at her one word reply!

Is there any room left on the delurkers bench? I've brought my own thermos...

Waves pom poms for nar

Purplehonesty · 17/02/2015 20:15

Brilliant parking by NAR. I agree tho that a wee picket fence up the middle of the two spaces should solve your problem. If the NAR hasn't buried her under them first!

CatsClaus · 17/02/2015 20:15

one of my finest moments was parking right up to some bint who had chosen to park badly in tesco...she had a big car, and could not park, I have a teeny one and can
She was on the line on her driver's side and I parked within the lines in my space.

She came bustling up as I hopped out, my passenger door was >< from her driver door and she said that I'd have to move as she could not get in to the driver's side.

I strolled pointedly to her passenger side where there was almost room for another car and gestured airily and said she'd have to scootch from the passenger side as she had so much room

When she realised i had no intention of moving she said "well, you're not a very nice person are you?" I said "no, I am not, but at least i can park!"

:o :o

SirChenjin · 17/02/2015 20:16

Ooohhh - this gets better and better!!

Could your NAR be talked into coming onto MN so that we can all meet him in person and tell him how much we admire his work, please?

DidoTheDodo · 17/02/2015 20:16

Ooh hurrah for nar and narsmate. I'm greatly enjoying this saga.

fairgame · 17/02/2015 20:17

This is the parking thread that keeps on giving not at all marking place

NAR rocks!

glenthebattleostrich · 17/02/2015 20:18

We have a house on a managed estate. Took out managing agent 3 bloody weeks to write to our NDN to tell them to stop parking on our drive. They finally stopped after friends of theirs parked there whilst we were out and we blocked them in. This was a Friday afternoon and strangely we couldn't find the car keys until 7 am Monday morning. Very careless of us too loose them like that.

I hope your neighbour is as stroppy as we are Grin

KissMyFatArse · 17/02/2015 20:18

Blatant place marking, what an entitled cow! Good on your neighbour!

ladygracie · 17/02/2015 20:18

CSIJanner · 17/02/2015 20:35

If only I had this thread and Mumsnet many moons ago when I lived wi piss taking of allocated parking spaces...

Trufflethewuffle · 17/02/2015 20:36

Years ago I had a house with a space outside which was mine but I also had a separate garage with enough parking for two cars at the front of it. It was the middle of three garages and the outside ones were owned by the owners of the houses next to them.

I came home from work one evening to find someone parked in front of my garage. I checked with the neighbours but it wasn't one of their visitors, they would have asked first anyway. So I parked right up tight behind the car and caught the bus to work for the next couple of days.

No one ever came and asked me to move. I had to use my car after a couple of days and the invader had moved when I got back. I never found out who had done it and no one did it again either!

WhenSheWasBadSheWasHorrid · 17/02/2015 20:37

no I'm not (a nice person) but at least I can park Grin

Delurking to declare my love for NAR

Pico2 · 17/02/2015 20:37

I'm not sure if it has been suggested already, but messages on her windscreen written on stickers are meant to be a good deterrent as they are a pain to get off.

TendonQueen · 17/02/2015 20:39

Go round to NAR now and offer him a lift to and from work tomorrow so he doesn't have to move his car Grin Or say you'll chip in for a limo taxi.
