Let Girls be Girls- When are the companies signed up to it actually going to act?

I've seen load of stuff in the last few days that would fall under the catergory of inappropriate. Some of the shops involved are signed up to it (not sure about all).

So what are they doing apart from saying Yes to MN?

Agree with you about stuff in the shops, they'll probably use the excuse that "ranges are planned months in advance" and "it'll take time to get into the shops". Half of them will expect MN to go away and forget about it in the meantime (there are always going to be people who buy the crap). But for now they are giving us lip service and we trust them still so they aren't losing customers and their share prices aren't affected.
I really don't think that the shops are going to do anything!

i went into m&s the other day specifically to try and find a one-piece costume for my 5year old dd. apparently m&s have signed up to this mn campaign - yet, what do i see? a ludicrously teeny bikini for her age group. barely enought to cover anything

excuse me? i am not being a 'poof' as you so eloquently put it. i happen to think that young girls should not be paraded on clothes that barely cover their chests! i also happen to think that letting young girls wear bikinis that are so tiny happens to pre-sexualise them - surely the whole point of the campaign???

Bikinis are in my mind not sexual. its a piece of clothing. there is no difference between that and a once piece. are girls stomachs indecent or something?

I think there is a fine line between age appropriate clothing and wrapping woman up in case we " tempt" men

oh fgs....a bikini has been around for years. we all wore them,we're all ok,we lived,it didnt turn us into monsters!!

this whole 'let girls be girls' campaign is losing perspective i think

actually no, i know quite a few women that never wore bikinis as girls and we all agree about that too.

i also happen to think it is losing perspective in that there are people who think that it is too strict and the whole campaign should be watered down!

what one person perceives as wrong,then another see's no harm in ....so yes,is in danger of losing all credibility really

a bikini has been around for ages...at the end of the day its parental choice what you put your own kid in,you shouldnt be worrying about what others choose to put their kids in

i dont htink there should be " approved clothes" and not approved.
if a one piece suit had nipple tassles on it, i might think it wasnt ok.. for eg

and what about us with tall/long bodied girls?? my eldest dd had to wear bikinis as no swimsuit was right fit

now she's 16 she has the option of the tall section for one piece suits,but at age 5 she didnt!!

have you thought about that???

i just have happy memories of wearing a bikini and dont see why anyone should not have one too, in case some freak finds them sexually attractive, which is more his prob than mine

WP - that's the trouble though, the freaks that find them sexually attractive surely?

The main point is that retailers are using this to increase profit.

Tankinis and the like are ok I think.

Don't see the point of the bikini top myself. It suggests there's something to cover up on top. Rather see little girls in one pieces or bikini bottoms.....

I'm wondering why Next has kitten heel sandals at size 7/8 children's size. My 2 year old is not bothered about making her legs look longer with a heel, and I thought flats were better for foot development? I think these are from summer stock, as I can't find a picture on their website.
